AIG outrage...what about Fannie?!

Recommended Posts

I have my theories about why this is not in the media…but I was wondering who all caught that Fannie is going to pay out bonuses as well. No coverage on CNN or MSNBC (who have both been chastising AIG)

Where is the political posturing? Taxing 90%? Chances are you won’t see it even though Fannie is more to blame for this mess we are in than anyone. No outrage? Thick as thieves and the general public is swallowing it hook line and sinker. The real problem is that taking away bonuses that were promised by legitimate contract via the tax code is unconstitutional (right or wrong) in that it breaks the constitutional ban on bills of attainder and is an ex post facto law. Both are very dangerous. If they can do it to them, they can do it to anyone.

looking into fannie and freddie would open the doors to the REAL arcitechs of this mess, possibly even showing how many members of congress had their fingers in the cookie jar, and showing that the problem started before bush making the bush did it excuse not workable anymore.

No one said Bush did it. Gramm did it by deregulating the derivatives business.
