  1. Hey Guys and Gals, We are planning a vacation for Florida in July/August for 4 weeks. I have spent a fair bit of time in Deland
  2. Wow - what a great thread. Keep it coming (Sorry OP Doc I am in the UK and its a long way to come for the course !)
  3. Can this be viewed outside the US of A for us foreign peasants
  4. Thanks everyone for the information. Off to fire some emails to make this happen next year
  5. Highly recommend Deland in Fl. Nice folks (like Skymama) and a great DZ.
  6. One of them opens above and about 200 yards from us. John. Did you give him words of advice afterwards ?
  7. Hello Brothers and Sisters, I'd like to fly to the US and jump from a B24 or B25 as my father was a WW2 pilot and these his 2 main bombers. Does any body know where this is a possibility ?
  8. The crash was less than a mile from my home in our local village. The airshow is the highlight of the calendar for the locals and the thousands that visit to watch - its a charitable event that has raised more than 1.6mUSD for former pilots (including my late father) One of the deceased was a former Paratrooper who spent his retirement driving wedding cars and was on his way to pick up the bride and groom. Blue Skies from a very sombre Shoreham in the UK.
  9. Crossing the runway on base leg is NOT a good idea if you want to stay alive in this sport.
  10. Caiise, Welcome to skydiving ! Well done on doing your first jump :-D Congratulations on: Getting to the DZ Getting through ground school Getting kitted up Getting in the plane Taking off and Being the only girl Checking your rig Listening to your instructor Exiting the plane Arching Carryout out drills Watching your Altitude Flying your canopy Landing Ok, so you didn't pull and were a little freaked out. This is the sport. I didn't pull on Level 2. Simple. If your coach said ""What happened? You screwed that one up royally!" then he needs to learn some people skills. What happened is all of the big list above and yea- there's room for improvement - but its the same whether you have 1, 100, 1000 or 10,000 jumps. AFF is not about passing/failing. Every jump is a huge learning curve and leap of faith. You just jumped out of a plane and survived. Be proud. Be happy and get back in the SKY. Emotions go very up and down when you start jumping - don't get too high with the highs and don't get to low with the lows.
  11. So to answer the OP its equivalent to one down size.
  12. It's approx 16% less so my 188zpx is about the same size as my new 168zp
  13. Wow. Thanks very much for all the superb replies. Lots of stuff I never thought about. Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply with such thorough responses.
  14. My friends. I have my first helicopter jump coming up from a Bell 206 I think it is equipped with double skids to enable us to hang on for dear life ..... We hope to get 5500ft. Jumping at a busy DZ that I am familiar with. What should I take into account when planning the jump (except for having fun and pulling &
  15. Yes you are reading too much into it. No it's not her.
  16. Bzyg7 I think there's been some great advice here. Here's a little trick. When your feeling discouraged about how some people treat you remember that: You jump out of planes. To your kids you are their hero. You were their hero anyway, but the fact that you skydive makes you AWESOME
