The way I see it, is that everyone always crys for help and then no one wants to say thank you. America is a super power (possibly the last one...except maybe China) and is doing its best to do what is right (don't get me wrong... politicians are the lowest life form next to lawyers (which most politicians started out as) ). You can't please all the people or all of the world all of the time. Steve! Glad to hear that the Vid landing was good... that would suck to have to show the family... "Ummm... yeah that's me skidding across the ground. No, I don't usually land that way." I didn't get any closer to ya today on jumps... but I did get a couple in. They were good jumps and the last one was much better than a lot of my previous ones. I am becoming one with the box man . Thanks for the input and suggestions... I still have a lot of learning to do with landing this crazy thing. I haven't stood one up yet... close but no cigar. On the upside, the landings haven't been bad enough to cause any injury (yet...knock on wood). I enjoy the canopy and almost as importantly, it's saving me a bucket load of money... especially for the price I picked it up for. Anyone out there with experience on a Main like this? I bought a rig and that is the main that came with it. It's in excellent shape and has low jumps on it ( I know everyone says that ). My rigger says it has a lot of life in it... it was just sitting for a long time with no one to play with it. Is there anything I shouldn't do when flying this canopy? Any known issues I might want to think about. I jumped it once already and was pretty conservative with it, but I would appreciate any input in the matter. Thanks in advance! Ahhh... were to begin? Lets see: 1. New Rig (1st rig) 2. 1st time jumping new rig 3. 1st time getting line twist 4. 1st time going out of the plane last 5. 1st time pulling at altitude... almost forgot 6. 1st time jumping a rig this size (190). I need to invest in a brewery... maybe start a micro brewery eh? Not a bad day considering I felt sick as a dog when I got up this morning. I recently purchased a rig though the classifieds here on Dropzone. The seller however was more than happy to have a rigger inspect it 1st ( I had to pay for the inspection and repack (even if I didn't keep it) which seemed ok to me). If they won't let you see it 1st or have it inspected... pass on. Against popular opinion... I love Survivor. Just finished watching the 1st episode... had to tape it because the scheduled Water training tonight at the same time. Bite the bullet and move in with them. You will never get a better chance than now. Not to make it sound bad, but you are only getting older and the longer you put it off the harder it gets. So if you do it now, you will be finished that much sooner. My only advice about living with the parents is to make sure all rules and expectations are clearly stated BEFORE you make any descision. If you tolorate the rules and expectations... then go for it. When it does get bad, just remember it's not forever and there is a reason you are doing it. Oh God! Your going to be a dispatcher Kidding... I did it for 6 years and loved it a lot. Its has it's moments to be sure. By the time you get hired at most S.O.'s or P.D.'s you feel like your life has been looked over with a microscope. The psych test are always fun... questions like "Do you enjoy your bowel movements?", "Do you ever hear voices in your head that are not your own?", And the nice vague questions that have more inuendo than sense written into them. You won't feel sane after taking those damn things. Good Luck and have fun if you get it... it can be rewarding and stressfull all at the same time. Man this is a major peeve of mine!!! Let's see... I can't take a pair of finger clippers on board because of the tiny nail file attached, but I can carry a heavy brass ball point pen with no problem. Show of hands... who wants to be stabbed with the pen and who wants the tiny nail file? Recently, my nephew was going through security and had one of those eye glass repair kits that his optomotrist had just given him earlier that day because he had screw that kept coming out of the frame, now we are talking the SSSSMMMAAALLLL kit, but there is a screw driver inside... they opened the damn kit (it was still sealed) and took out the mini screw driver because "screwdrivers" are on the banned list. Everyone was sooooo upset (rightfully so) by 9/11 because it took away the sense of security that we had (guess what, it was an illusion to begin with). So our big solution is to pass laws and give up freedoms in the name of making us safer. Do I feel safer because Gomer Pyle is confiscating tiny screw drivers, nail files, and anything he doesn't know what to do with? Hell no! Do I feel safer because the FBI and anyother government agency can dance around the 4th amendment in the name of national security (considering they had the freaking info on the terrorist to begin with, but did nothing with it and wouldn't play nice and share with other agencies)? Hell no! The government is doing its best to lull us back into feeling secure with all the dorkey security meausures which accomplish nothing but wasting money and time. I'll take my chances that Granny isn't packing if it means I get through security quicker. Thanks and beers to ya all... I did level 6 & 7 today... what an experience. I was feeling pretty anxious about the jumps, but I really wanted to do them too! So...
