  1. Yeah I saw that on the website, but it's quite vague IMO since they don't mention any country and they don't mention Canadian Resident. I already send an e-mail to USPA after I wrote here, since I maybe could have a good reply on the subject *crossfingers* Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  2. Before I begin, I try doing a search on the subject and didn't find anything so sorry if this was mentioned before. Hey Guys, This weekend someone was comparing CSPA and USPA. The biggest difference came to liability. It was mention that a USPA member who is a resident of Canada and only jump on Canadian Soil (or other country outside of the US) were not covert by the USPA Liability since it's only accountable if you jumped on US soil while needed the Liability. Is that true? If so, why is this hidden from people that sign up on a USPA membership instead of CSPA? Thanks. Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!

  4. On the subject of relationship on drop zone. I see way to many drama from day one with couple that break up and they are stuck with their Ex on the drop zone. For that main reason I don't want anything to do with a Skydiver. None at all! Skydiving for me is work (packer) and a release of life and just have fun. I don't want to go to a drop zone and be in a bad mood because of past relationship. But then again, hard to start a relationship when you spend every weekend at the drop zone 6 months a year. Still worth it! ;) Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!

  7. I wish that had happen. But I think most of us would agree that we want to transfer our patient to our kids. I don't have kids at the moment but if I do have some, I'll make them jump! Tunnel when they are young and then jump when at the proper age. Just scared that you get the classic scenario of "My dad does it ... not that cool". Tho I have 2 very close friends, whuffos, that I will kidnap their kids one sunday afternoon and make them jump! I'll be "that" uncle! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  8. My story goes like this... Ever since that Canada Day celebration weekend where I first saw someone under canopy, about age 9-10, I wanted to be a skydiver. Sadly enough, school and social life always put that idea aside. Last year, May 2011, I come "home" and tell my mom that I'll finally going to go skydive a few weeks later... Before I tell you her reaction, I wanna say that our relation between her and I was always, always positive. From my first experience with Alcohol and Bar (never got into drugs *high five*) she always took it as "Live your life because I didn't". She was the oldest of 7 kids so she was always a 2nd mother her whole teens life. So I come home, tell her and she flip the F out! I mean cursing and being angry and everything! I was very, very surprised. Did not expect such a reaction from the calm, positive mother I grew up with. After her little tantrum, she finally go away and come back 30 sec later with a card. I had my graduation ceremony a few weeks after (3 days after my tandem was schedule). She give it to me and tell me to open it. "Dear son, I am very proud of you for all your hard work finally paying off. It was a dream of mine to see you graduating and to thank you for making my dream come true, I will make yours come true. You will finally going to experience skydiving. (...)" My mom flipped out because I ruined her surprise. So let's just say that I got my tandem paid for ;) Sadly she didn't know it was the beginning of a whole new chapter in my life. But she is very happy for me that I found one hell of a passion. Love ya mom! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  9. Exactly! Most of them have barely their A so seeing the sky and the ground coming up is not a great video! Thanks for the Report ! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  10. Any chance I could have these DSE Report linked? Could use that as a heavy argument against it. But yeah I get what you mean I saw the display in a few shops and I always rolled my eyes at them! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  11. Hey Ladies and Gents! I was having multiple discussion over the summer with some people that are really rushing to jump with a camera. My main drop zone doesn't let you jump with a camera before 200 jumps, and I believe I was told that this is a USPA thing (if that is wrong let me know). But I saw other drop zone that doesn't really care. I have a hard time believing that is the correct thing to do (let a newbie jump with a camera). Am I the only one that has that train of thoughts? And what is with the big rush of jumping with a camera? Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  12. Yeah as soon as I wrote the last replied, I got a reply from them already asking for my address so the issue is pretty much fixed... I'll just have to wait. For next weekend trip to the sky I'll try the pledge trick! Thanks everyone! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  13. Wow you are right! It's a G2 Visor!!!! Thanks! A lot!!! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!

  15. Hey Guys! Having a big issue with my new, fresh out of the box, G3 Cookie Helmet. As soon as I put it on to make sure it fits and just to get a feel of it myself, I noticed some very strange reaction to it. At the exact place I was breathing on my visor, inside, something started to peel off. At first, I thought it was some protective plastic screen that you had to removed, but quickly realize it wasn't the case. As you can see on my picture, it was some kind of plastic melting. I took a soft cloth and some water, and gently started to clean it off... and it just made things worst... it spread all over my visor. Now before the "cancer", as I call it, invade all the inside of my visor, I touched it and it was very smooth, just like the outside. After the "cancer" was all over it and I gently and soft rubbed it off. the inside became rough. After an hour of clean, wipe and repeat I finally manage to get rid of most of it ... but it because clear that it was some fog protection that had the problem cause after 10 sec of my head inside it, it became very foggy, fast! I was wondering if you guys had any tips? I used the little anti-fog wipe they give you and it still didn't work. Someone told me Pledge was good for that. Or should I just wait for the Cookie people to reply to my email? Hoping this will help me out. Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  16. as a fairly new jumper (1 year in july) I would say this! Before jump ... take 3 deep breath to calm down! Some might be rolling their eyes ... but for me, it made every jump that much better since I relaxed myself before going that. And have fun! Oh and one guy told me "Worst that can happen ... it`s you'll fall!" ... think about it. Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  17. First: You should give us your general location so people can help you out to where you should jump with the best instructors in your region. 2nd: My first time (after tandem) was during my solo certification class. I did the 11 jumps slow progression program (the name of that escape my mind at the moment). It starts with a Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD), this first solo jump is from 3,500 feet. Now I did that out of a C-182. On Cessna planes have a bar that goes to the wing. Remember, first solo jump, on tandem, you get "pushed" out... Now they were asking me to go up the bar, let my feet go from the wheel and hang in there... at (what seems to be super high) 3500'. I was scared sh!tless!!!! Plus I was the first one to do it (curse of being the heaviest). When I got the head signal and had to let go, It seems to take all the energy from me! But everything went well ... till the 6th jump. That all happen in one day... new students (me included) want to get tru their solo in 1 weekend... Except, adrenaline rushes (when not used to it) take a lot of energy! I wanted to get tru it, with each jump I was more confident, everything went well... after jump #5 (first self opening) I wanted to call it quit for the day and get much needed rest. Sadly enough, they needed one more student to go up on that last load of the day... I've been there for 12 hrs now, tired and still in shock about the whole thing. I cave in and said yes. This was my first freefall jump, count to 3 and open. Easy enough. So here I am, hanging on the bar, getting the okay. I let go, annndddd looked down, instead of up. which made me de-arch (big no no when you are starting). That made me flip .... lost total control and in panic I open anyway ... I guess I did it at the perfect timing since the opening was good and landed carefully. Now that scare the shit out of me. I couldn't sleep that night... all I could see everytime I close my eyes were the flipping combination of sky and ground. It took me 8 days to get back to it. I didn't want to go back. But I decided to conquer my fear. And I went. Since then ... hooked and have a little smirk everytime I think about that jump. I learned a lot from it ... since then, before each jump, in the plane as the jump run approach, I take 3 deep breath and relax, and everything always goes well ... and I'm prepare with all the outcomes that come with a jump. Just like my first malfunction this past week where I had to cut away (BEEERRR!!!!) Don't let fear stop you... you'll miss out on the greatest thing in life. Cheers! 18. Ok so had a good suspicion on how to do that! Got my next jump planed out :D Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  19. Hey Y'all! Season started strong to my drop zone, already about 20 jump in 3 weeks, can't ask for more! Now I was thinking of different exit to do from the Kingair and one keep coming back, a backflip off the kingair. My question is simple, how does one do a backflip out of that little door? do I put my back to the door, chest to knees and just fall backward? Thanks and blue skies! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  20. Done! Somehow ;) And no we didn't learn about down cross winds. But then again, I didn't make the class. And I had multiple teachers but one that I stuck on the longest turned out to not be a very good teacher! Got a mentor now that is showing me the rope. But I am fully aware that I need a lot of experience before actually down sizing. I'm in no rush of doing so! I feel in love with the sport and will take all the time in the world to get good at it! Avikus - Packer and Jumper - Hate landing with the plane!
  21. Hey there! New here! Got my Solo certification a few days ago. Did 4 jump since. I'm proud to say I got an addiction to the sport! So I've talk to some people at my drop zone and a few of them said that I would have to start thinking about changing my gear from a student (270) to something better along my experience tru out the sport. So I was thinking that before I get a smaller canopy I would have to master the one I have right now right? So if I could get a few pointers on what I should master that would be appreciated. I've heard someone saying I had to learn to land front\cross\down wind. What does that mean? Cheers! -A
