    Pilot

    Hi have put about 6 jumps on my brand new ZPX Pilot. I am very impressed with this canopy and for a 168' it is more than I expected and am happy that I didnt downsize to 150' !! I have a about 1.1 loading. Even on my first canopy (150') this 168' easily out-performs it in turn responsiveness and in the landing. it seems to have decent forward speed and was jumping in 18kt winds. for a new canopy, it is reasonably easy to pack (still slippery) but from memory even ZP used canopies were only slightly easier. I can see myself definately sticking with Pilot for a long time! Do yourself a favour and test jump one or just buy it! The ZPX seems to pack a little smaller, but I would have thought 17% would be hugely noticable, but I am sure that this will improve after breaking in a little (ie.50-100 jumps).....and also when my packing technique improves also ;-) I can see why all the reviews are mostly positive for this canopy! Blue Skies!
  2. I just got my new wings from Para-service(rigs & things). I am happy that the wait is over due delay on zpx fabric. I would say get a wings, its only 200 bucks, and since your spending a large amount anyways it really isnt much. I am very impressed with my rig, cant wait to jump it. Sunrise (rick) is awesome and happy to answer all your questions and so are Roy and Anne from para-service. Just compare the options you want and the final price, then make a decision. see my post here with pics: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4313658#4313658 Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  3. Hell Yeah New Rig is finally in my hands!!!! Check out the attachments Thanks to: Sunrise Manufacturing!   4. Thanks good info; I just spoke with Aerodyne and they advised that although they had, along with other manufacturers, a quality/supply problem; it has now gone back to business as usual! 10 weeks for all canopies now :-) Yahoo! will be jumping Dubai and Qatar in no time! Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  5. I emailed Aerodyne and recieved an ordinary response. There was NO mention of problems, just call your store for info on delivery dates! Very uninformative! I was told from my "store" maybe Mid to late April 2012 for a ZPX that was ordered very early January '12; And that they keep extending delivery dates. Mainly due to the Q.C of the fabric.... which I gues means the supply of fabric to standard! In saying that it is not just Aerodynes problem, its happening to everyone...e.g PD etc. Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  6. Hi, Placed an order in January for a complete rig, and have an Aerodyne Pilot 168 ZPX custom colour, and Smart Reserve. As far as I know it aint been started yet due to ZPX fabric quality probs OR Supply Probs..... Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!
  7. haha, I meant no chin cup looking thing ;-) [/cool] but yes, something to hold it onto my nogin would be fantasic! Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  8. Hi everyone; Was wondering if anyone could reccomend a helmet that can be a great comfortable jumping helmet (Gopro adaptable) with the ability to be used for Kitesurfing (water) as well? Prefer no chin strap and open face if I can. Cheers! Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  9. Ah crap, I ordered a new 168' Pilot ZPX and will be jumping it in Dubai (desert). So now I will have to take extra special attention to the wear? I think it should be fine as they would not place a canopy fabric out into the market with unsubstantiated claims and poor performance characteristics! A sure fire way to go broke. So chances are the canopy will be fine and live up to its expectations. Ps - It also gets humid in the desert! Just depends on the time of year. Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  10. http://www.flyaerodyne.com/zpx.asp Dont know the answer to the jumps question; But I have ordered a Pilot Zpx 168' and the delivery time is crazy, approz 12 - 14 weeks! So I kinda screwed up as my jumping season will be close to an end before I get my rig! Boooo ;-) I will do a review on the Zpx when I get it, before and after a few jumps. But will have to wait untill at least May for that! I called them about Zpx and they said the same as the above link. But they added that its self healing so if you poke a pencil though it that it will close up on its own! Also it packs about 1 size smaller than a standard z.p. Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  11. Update to the Low profile Reserve Handles: Spoke to Rick and he sent me some pics to clarify the sizes based on the MLW (Main Lift Web) size. Two Photos attached. One is of the Medium/Large and the Sml/XtraSml MLW and their respective Standard reserve handles. Second is the Medium/Large and the Sml/XtraSml MLW and the respective Low Profile Handles. I should be a small MLW so will have the low-prof-reserve handle on the right .... which I like best anyways. Ps - Rick is an awesome help. He just thought I was going to buy a reserve handle and went to all that trouble! +A1 customer service, Thanks Sunrise! Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  12. Thanks for the Pics! I have been trying to call Rick, but no contact. I imagine if I speak to him in the next week it will be ok to change if it is ridiculously small. I will also mention to him to maybe put images of the options on the website so we can see roughly what the effect will be before order ;-) Attached is my rig Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  13. Thanks, I was not aware that the D handle will change size with different rigs as I thought that most were the same ball park. Dam, hopefullt it wont be a problem. I will call Rick and ask. However, some that I asked say they like their low profile handles?? Do you mind if you attach a pic of your rig d handle and your hand next to it?? Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  14. Thanks Guys, Rig is now ordered! Unfortunately, the container will be ready before the ZPX main! Dam..... In hindsight, Zero-p canopy would have been 200 cheaper but I will review the ZPX main for others benifit :-) Rick at Sunrise was great, and Cut-in's are free this month (Jan 12) so I took the option. Apart from that, its Hurry up and wait!...... slowly Standby for pic's..... Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
  15. Thanks for the reply mate. I plan on jumping in warmer climates most of the time and dont have massive hands, so getting a thumb into the slim reserve handle may be achievable! ;-) Yeah, I am going with teh 168 zpx main which aparently is packed about the size of a 150'...... I dont plan on going much smaller than this for a fair while! I may just leave it as the standard loop option. Have you ever heard about the cut-in-laterals being a problem with anyone jumping a wings? Wings container; Main: 168' ZPX Pilot; Reserve: Smart 160'; Cypres 2;
