The trunk.... well... I'd say close it so a "bad guy" can't get into it and grab a weapon, no matter how slim the chance... I would say know that a lot of LEO's do not get that much weapons training or follow up training after they complete the "training" course. I say this being someone, who was at the end of a live glock, of an officer that did not know how to release a magazine from a very simular weapons system. But recoil isn't a factor for an AR15. And that stance just makes for a lot of wobble.
