The more we ban all this high risk fringe activity in the sport, the more safe it will be, and the less public pressure there will be to attack us. If we can just get everyone to do only 4-way and style-and-accuracy, then we won't have anything to worry about any more. That should be enough to keep anyone entertained. A work placement is part of the course structure (work experience) many many training institutions organise them. They are usually unpaid as they are still part of the course structure. Industry training is supposed to be provided. Thanks for that straight answer. When people like that poster play word games like that, instead of just answering a direct question, it makes me real suspicious.

Once you've stopped being dragged and are back on your feet, walk around in an arc until you are downwind from the parachute. Then back up to pull all the lines taut once again, including that brake line you reeled in. The parachute won't reinflate this way, and you'll have all the lines back straight. Then gather them up as normal.

Heck, everyone knows that the producers manufacture fake drama for those shows to make them interesting. They'll fake having experienced jumpers pretend to snub junior jumpers, they'll have pretend junior jumpers doing stupid things beyond their abilities. Pretend students will fake going out of control and pulling low. They'll show actors pretending to be jumpers who drink too much, party too hard, and have loose morals. They'll highlight tattoo freaks with orange mohawk hair-do's. Women body-double "jumpers" will flash their boobies to the pilot. And stunt pilots will be brought in to do high-speed low passes. And we all know that none of that kind of stuff actually happens on any drop zone. Next thing you know, the general public will have a totally false image of what skydiving is like. Hollywood, hrumph!

Cool stuff. Now get about three experienced jumpers together and tell them you want to do a "pull out".

And then that produces additional problems. For one, you have to remember to set it to fast-refresh mode. And if you forget to do that, then the altitude reading is lagging behind, and may cause incorrect higher-than-actual information. Second, if you forget to turn fast-refresh back off after every jump to preserve the battery, then the battery might go dead on you in the middle of a skydive, giving you no altitude info at all. Gee, I think I'll just stick with my old-fashioned mechanical altimeter that doesn't have any of these problems, and just always works, no matter what.

Heck, why stick to just one place. With a whole month, you can visit numerous drop zones in the area, from Miami and Clewiston in the south all the way up to Palatka in the north. Jump the full-time DZ's on Monday through Friday, and then head for some weekend-only DZ's on the weekends. That way you can get a taste of about 8 drop zones, and get a really good feel for the Florida jump scene.

No, don't do it! You'll make everyone else extremely jealous, and they'll hate you for it. So it's a really bad idea. Give your 15-minutes to someone else, and feel the love.

Theres been a bunch of threads about people wondering what the best gear is, down to the most stupid minute detail, like gloves, goggles, gear bags, helmets, audibles, altimeters, and so on. Sheesh, can't anyone make a friggin decision any more without asking others? Man up and make your own choices! But what no one has ever addressed before, far as I can tell, is one of the most important gear decisions of all: UNDERWEAR! That's right, underwear. What's more important than your balls and your dick? Nothing! And if you're wearing boxers and one of your balls or your dick slips underneath a leg strap just before opening shock, then you're really gonna regret it. And you don't wanna be squirmin while tracking trying to dig a ball out from where it shouldn't be just before pull time. Know what I mean? So what do you guys wear to protect your family jewels and keep them out of harm's way? Screw all this talk about sissy stuff like gear bags and altimeter pillows. Let's get down to IMPORTANT business here!

Paraphrasing from someone-in-the-know: Ryan went missing three months ago. Skelatal remains have been found in the mountains of San Bernardino, CA, less than 300 yards from where his vehicle was found after he was reported missing. Next to the remains was a Beretta 9mm handgun which matches the firearm stolen from his Houston roommate. The ammo in the handgun also matches the roommate's. So, while the remains have not been positively identified yet by the coroner, the coincidences of location and the gun would indicate that this is Ryan Adams. So what's the story here, folks? I just saw and spoke with him about two months ago at a Houston drop zone. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at that time. Is he off on a drinking binge? Did he run away with a woman? What's going on?

Ryan Adams Missing Since October 11th, 2011 Houston, Texas Age: 33 Height: 6' 1" Hair Color: Brown Eye Color: Brown Weight: 175 lbs Ryan Adams was last known to be living in Cypress, Texas. Ryan is an avid skydiver and because of this, it's believed that he spent a great deal of time at Skydive Houston, a skydiving center in Eagle Lake. He's been in the United States for approximately 3 years and is from the United Kingdom and a veteran from their Army Armed Forces. Ryan works on oil rigs with the OCS Group. There are conflicting stories as the whether Ryan was at work as usual on Monday October 10th. One of which is stating he was and one stating he wasn't. The last known correspondence from Ryan's work email was sent somewhere around 2am Tuesday morning. It's also believed that Ryan may have been out in local clubs this same Monday night prior to that email being sent. He has no wallet, no ID, no cards, no passports or anything. His truck was found in Hesperia, San Bernardino county on Friday, October 14th without reason for being there. It's not know if he's previously worked in that area or may have friends there. It's a possibility that something may have happened to Ryan and if so, his truck was taken there and left. There's been no phone activity, facebook, myspace, or any such online status updates from him. Ryan's mobile phone charger and laptop are at home and all his clothes plus his photos of our daughter too. No-one has heard or seen anything since Monday night the 11th and we're worried knowing he can't survive without money, he spends what he makes and doesn't save although is truck has recently been paid off.
