  1. Not only is she apparently a moron for moving in next to an airport and then having a problem with the noise, she's also apparently loopier than a roller coaster park (which she'd probably also hate, since she seems to have about as much tolerance for fun as the wicked witch of the west has for water). cavete terrae.
  2. Much better video: http://denver.cbslocal.com/2015/04/13/longmont-resident-in-lawsuit-calls-skydiving-plane-penetrating-debilitating/ I appear twice (briefly) in it. Oh, and the reporter is a *babe*, who looks much better in person! I'm trying to take notes of it all, but hell, I could write an article just on the first day. Glad to see there are supporters there for the DZ. Ingrid Moore is an interesting person. Her house was built in 2001, 5-6 years after the DZ opened there, yet she complains about it? Also interesting that she lives less than a mile from the airport but complains about airplane noise. The left side of the bell curve is well-represented in their complaints. cavete terrae.
  3. It's just like a sport you don't like. Right when the championship is over and you think "Thank fuck, no more news about that shit for a while", they start talking about preseason crap. cavete terrae.
  4. Don't necessarily disagree. Unfortunately it seems she's still the best of a bad bunch on both sides of the aisle. That's like saying "I'd rather be raped with a chainsaw than with a tunnel borer" cavete terrae.
  5. Further review of the video MAY indicate that the cop's taser got used against him. Viewing the video in HD appears to show the barb and lead coming out of his shirt, and the cartridge tangled around the victim's leg as he runs. However, that could have happened a few ways. If the taser was used against the cop, it's still in my opinion an unjustified shooting since the guy was running away, but that's a lot less clear cut. I'm man enough to admit I may have jumped to a few conclusions here! cavete terrae.

  8. Police aren't even top ten for risky jobs in the US, it's not like they're engaged in fucking trench warfare in WWI. They need to quit with the histrionics about it and stop pretending that if they don't blast every darkie who looks crosseyed at them, they won't make it home at night. If you can't handle the (not all that significant) risk, go work in a library. I'm surprised you can lift that brush that high. Isn't it heavy? Bro I lift. cavete terrae.

  10. The majority of cops are probably not violent criminals. The majority of citizens are probably not violent criminals. Each side assumes otherwise when it comes to interactions. It's not good, but it's the world we've made for ourselves. The police stopped being part of the community, and the community stopped trusting the police. cavete terrae.
  11. I think it makes perfect sense. If it wasn't then prosecution would have to prove the actual act took place. It would make prosecution of possession of child pornography significantly harder. Censoring computer generated, life like child pornography makes perfect sense. So we should make more things illegal to make the job of cops and prosecutors easier? Gonna have to go ahead and disagree with ya there, Bob. Better make apple juice illegal for minors to drink. Looks too much like beer. Strawman. I didn't say that. You said it didn't make any rational sense. I outlined how it does make rational sense. Touché. It's a terrible rationalization that I completely disagree with, but then again, people rationalize believing in all sorts of silly shit. cavete terrae.
  12. I'm curious what in the leadup not recorded on video could possibly have justified what happened there. That appeared to be a Judge Dredd moment, and that cop just not only killed an unarmed man who was at that moment no threat to him (even if he was before), but just wasted what will likely end up being several million taxpayer dollars. cavete terrae.
  13. I'd say that in terms of appropriate use of taxpayer dollars, the poor are probably pretty low in terms of priorities for smacking around. cavete terrae.

  15. Except that simulated child pornography is illegal as well, so that argument isn't valid in this case. My point remains that those who attempt censorship are nowhere near the absolute worst of humanity. I think that simulated child pornography being illegal makes no rational sense, and don't understand why they bothered. Your point is, like mine, a matter of opinion. Censorship is a truly horrible, evil thing as far as I'm concerned and not much is likely to change that belief. cavete terrae.
  16. No country allows everything to be printed. What's your point? Every country is run by assholes? Yes, I agree. I'd like to minimize the assholery, personally. Perhaps you can start by telling Feinstein's grandchildren why you want their grammy to shoot herself to death with a shotgun. Sure. "Your grandmother has dedicated her life's work to making the country a worse place. She supports murder by the state, she supports censorship by the state, and she supports violation of civil liberties in general by the state. She does not care about the right to free speech, which is one of the most important principles upon which our society is based. I don't think she should be harmed or killed by others, but if she were to kill herself she would finally do something to make the country a better place." cavete terrae.
  17. No country allows everything to be printed. What's your point? Every country is run by assholes? Yes, I agree. I'd like to minimize the assholery, personally. My point is that every society should get to decide what they deem to be acceptable in their society. Labelling those who believe child pornography should not be widely and freely available as the "absolute worst of humanity" I don't think is very fair. I also doubt you hold that opinion in that case. Hence, we have likely already agreed that some level of censorship is acceptable. Other societies may believe that writings that call for the extermination of a race, or group should not be widely available. I also wouldn't label that as the absolute worst of humanity, though I fully understand the argument in favour of having it widely available. The creation of child pornography is an impingement on the life and liberty of a person without that person's consent, so it is justifiable to block it. Political protest books, how-to manuals (including those to help people commit suicide), and books about how terrible a given group are do not qualify, in my opinion. "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to my death your right to say it", etc. cavete terrae.

  19. Whoa. Steady as she goes there, pardner. Give yourself time to adjust to being back. People who attempt censorship are among the absolute worst of humanity. If I were gullible enough to believe in hell, it's the place I'd wish them to. Feinstein is consistently awful in plenty of ways, but this is… ugh. cavete terrae.
  20. What would killing them have improved? Nothing. It doesn't bring back the dead. It doesn't save money. It doesn't deter others. Hell, if you aren't religious (read as: gullible), you can even see it as an easy way out. A few minutes of fear and discomfort followed by nothingness, vs decades of life in a cage? I know which one of those sounds worse to me, and it ain't the one that has the quick way out. it is absolutely 100% useless from a logical standpoint. It only makes sense to people making decisions based on emotion, which is generally a stupid thing to do. cavete terrae.
  21. Feinstein should suck-start a shotgun and log out of the world of the living. She's not evil incarnate, but would still be doing the world a favor. Worse yet, she's so far removed from reality she couldn't find her own ass with shiva's arms and a GPS. cavete terrae.
  22. 10% of US states do not allow vehicle manufacturers to sell directly to customers, insisting they use a dealership system to increase prices and lower quality of service. The latest of these states had the bill put into play by someone who, surprise, owns car dealerships. http://arstechnica.com/cars/2015/04/west-virginia-is-the-latest-state-to-ban-tesla-direct-sales/ If I can go the rest of my life without buying through a franchise dealership, my life will be better for it. Hopefully Tesla has a smaller model out by the time I'm ready for my next new car. cavete terrae.
