    Tablet Laptops

Motion are used by nearly all the aviation software companies - pretty sturdy, but not easily upgraded. Dell stamps their name on them too - we used several of them in our company for a while until we had issues with some software incompatibilities. For most users, they are a cool toy. Hope that helps. edit: added link for shopping Z-Flock 8 Discotec Rodriguez Too bad weapons grade stupidity doesn't lead to sterility.
  3. I think Matt's got a little truth there - at Z-hills at least, a WS is expected to get back from any spot (a reputation we got from highly experienced WS fliers there). Now that we have been experimenting with the acrobatics, there have been a few experienced WS fliers getting verbal abuse from the other jumpers for not being able to make it back - they just see the WS and have no idea we are not just flocking back to the DZ. With repetition, this may be exaggerated by the non-WS jumpers and begin to influence future WS jumpers' expectations to the point where it's mistakenly believed, "if you fly a WS, you're going to land out alot"... ...or he could be talking about something completely different, but I could see this happening too. Back to the thread topic: You go on a FF jump with friends, track away at breakoff and click your heels together ! 5. Wow - just incredible pictures! You've got a real eye with the camera...I just found my new desktop wallpaper . Z-Flock 8 Discotec Rodriguez Too bad weapons grade stupidity doesn't lead to sterility.

  7. Michelle's V1 is neon green with magenta accents (similar to watermelon) - I haven't got a photo of the V1 to post, but her GTI is nearly the same colors (attached). By the way, Michelle is my wife; we just don't wear rings while jumping. Z-Flock 8 Discotec Rodriguez Too bad weapons grade stupidity doesn't lead to sterility.
  8. It's going to be a Total hoot ! The weather is perfect today, and should be the same all weekend.

  10. It depends upon several things: other aircraft on jump run, air traffic (non jumper), weather, air space and in general what's waiting for the pilot - if there's several loads to go, you want to drop and get down for the next one... Usually most pilots will set up for 4500' to 5900' at Z-hills (at 6k you have to work with Tampa)...but it's the exit that's the really cool part anyway! Got to get the ride while you can - we've missed the helicopter at the WFFC every time we go because we couldn't stay the entire time - the only other thing that's close is the balloon (and then you are almost always landing off). 11. The Alouette helicopter has just been added to the fleet of aircraft on hand for the beginning of the Easter Boogie for one day only!
  12. More details on the helicopter: Tickets are on sale NOW if you previously jumped at Z-hills (and are in the computer) - Otherwise you will need to purchase them at check-in. Purchasing them at $46 (same as last time he was there) gets your name on the load sheet and the money remains on on account until ticket is issued. Call manifest to purchase as many as you think you want for Friday (if enough are sold or weather on Friday is bad he may come back for loads Sunday) - ticket is refundable if weather shuts down both days. This will be listed in the Events forum by tomorrow, but as it's a wingsuit event, it's only fair we get first shot, right? QuoteMay as well keep the list up to date... corrections 1-Voodew1 (TX) 2-Professor (TX) 3-FlyinBob (TX) 4-Buried (IL) 5-The111 (LOCAL!) 6-Skyflyingbecca (FL) 7-Moonglo (TX) 8-Luminous (TX) 9-unclecharlie95 (ITALIA) 10-Base733 (UT) 11-nathaniel(IL) 12-HELMUT (Tatooween) 13-OmarPR (LOCAL) 14-RobertPecnik(CROATIA) 15-Purple Mike(Earth) 16-Costyn (NL) (very likely) 17-Matt (GA) 18-Joni (NE) 19-Yuri (Russia-USA) 20-badenhop (Lodi) 21-Mike Steen (UT) 22-EmLo (Local) 23-DaMan (Local) 24- Rob Jones (Local) 25-Scott Bland (Local) 26-Chris Ware (Local) 27-Scotty Burns (Local) 28-Jeff Nebelkopf (Local) 29-Mike (Local) 30-Paul Mazillo (Local) 31-Scary Perry (Local) 32-Mark (normiss) Cochran (Local) 33-Manny (Local) 34-Lurch? 13. For anyone who hasn't already jumped at Z-hills... Complete the waiver online (paperwork for the DZ) from the Skydive City website here and save yourself some time once you arrive. See ya there! Z-Flock 8 Discotec Rodriguez Too bad weapons grade stupidity doesn't lead to sterility.
  14. I spoke with Eric (helicopter pilot) yesterday about best times to be onsite (and not screw up the big way loads). He's planning on being there Friday (or Sunday if the weather looks bad for Friday...). I think they will be selling helicopter tickets in advance, but the details are still fuzzy - check with manifest a couple of days before the weekend if you intend to jump the helicopter as slots go quickly. 15. There are already 3 otters on site and the CASA is on standby (for the moment - all 3 otters have to be full to get the CASA for sure)...and the helicopter will be there for one or two days. If you haven't signed up, get to it!!! If we have enough to fill all 3 otters, they have to get the CASA for the event for sure!!! Can't wait! 16. Agreed - balloon (if I knew I was always going to have an LZ) is great, but... Other: Helicopter -
  17. According to another pilot who flew at the Keys Boogie, they were charging $65 per jump (and getting it without complaints) - so now everyone's thinking that they may be undercharging at $4x and $5x might be better (for them) . There's a huge overhead with helicopter maintenance - turbines, like the Alouette are even higher; it just doesn't pay to spend the time flying to the event (or transporting the helicopter), removing the doors, removing the left seat controls, and maybe fly a couple of hours, reinstall the controls & doors, pack up, and so on... . However, if he can fly a couple of hours of back to back loads, it makes it worth his time - remember it's his business - he can make a lot more money with a lot less concerns flying an executive around at $800+ per hour than flying jumpers... All this is one of the reasons it's so hard to get a helicopter to be at a boogie (insurance for parachute activities is another nightmare too). We are very fortunate that he lives close and likes jumpers - the last time he flew, it wasn't really worth his time at $45 per jump (the DZ gets a cut too you know)...if we can get him (and the DZ) to agree on a reasonable figure in the $50-$52 range and keep the loads going, we might be able to have a helicopter at more events in the future too. Whatever happens, it will still be a fun boogie for the WS fliers! Z-Flock 8 Discotec Rodriguez Too bad weapons grade stupidity doesn't lead to sterility.
  18. Well, it's official - we have at least one helicopter to jump from for the event!
  19. The SA318 (Alouette) is a great helicopter to jump with WS - you can fit 4 big birds in there! I was talking about the one I fly (Robinson 22/44). You can jump from them, but the skid height makes it tough for stepping down in a WS. Still working out the details for the Alouette - See everyone there! Z-Flock 8 Discotec Rodriguez Too bad weapons grade stupidity doesn't lead to sterility.
  20. First, I've got to tell you two words - Spell Check... Well, Michelle and I may come up in a helicopter, but it doesn't really work well for WS jumps - it's just too small a door & too low a skid to make it safe. I flew with Eric this past weekend (turbine transition for me

  22. Like SM1 said - looks like you are not flat...look at the 1st one and you can see how much more "hip high" you are compared to the 2nd. As far as the extending, you have to extend equally with arms and legs...maybe you are starting with the legs before the arms(?) 25. If the process for getting a demo reserve is the same as getting a main, it's not a hassle at all. I got a main from them last week and all I had to do was fill out the form online and reply to an email. They even included the return shipping label with it.
