  1. I can confirm that this rigger lost his riggers license one year ago and his is not operational as a rigger anymore. We also know that the rigger was using packing tools - a packing device with a T-bar - and this makes it possible to use a lot more force then recommended to close the container. We also know that he did not follow the manual and this is the case for at least three other rapported cases in Norway (the same rigger). So RTFM people And to "melathechamp": Your new rigger is absolutly trustworthy
  2. I have been jumping Xaos-21 and Xaos-27 the last 2-3 years and have never experienced any problem like this during flight. I have pushed both canopies realy hard both on fronts and harness, and even after flying in deep breaks going to hard front riser turns. Both canopies have been nice to me. After i learn how to fly them, they dont give me any surprises. I had som problems with my Xaos-27 (118 sqfeet)in the opening in the beginning. The endcells opend first and the end cells touch togehter in front of the center cells. When i pulled down the rears the canopy started flying like normal. When we modified the steeringlines and changed the breaksetting (2 inches deeper setting/shorter lines) it never happend again. Since that the Xaos-27 have been giving me the sweetest openings you can imaging.
  3. Wrong!! The smallest known commercial available parachute is probably the Xaos-27 58 sqf from Precision Aerodynamic. There are also several other manufactures with canopies smaller then the VX 69. High Performance Research are one of them (Blade).
  4. Brian - where can we get the book. Can't find it om Your homepage. We would like some copies in Norway too.
  5. I belive that Heath would have won with either canopies. When it comes to his level its all in the pilot. He could probably beat most swoopers even with a regular elliptical 9-cell like the Catana. Heath is the best swooper - thats way he won. When it comes to canopies I think the best canopy are the canopy You preform the best with. For me that is the Xaos-27, for others it might be the VX or Velocity. The difference in performance for these canopies are not very big.
  6. The Xaos is the best opening canopy i have ever jumped. I used to do camera jumping a Stiletto, and it worked all right. But the Xaos is a cameramans dream. The Xaos-21 has the slowest opening and they are onheading almost on every jump. Perfect for camera. The Xaos-27 has a little shorter snivel, but not hard in any way, and gives me a off heading opening more often (but its not a problem - just get used to it). The Xaos-27 is also a more seeking canopy and its very touchy on harness and rearrisers input during the deployment. Testjump one. Start with the Xaos-21 and move on to the Xaos-27. If you are looking for nice openings you will love the Xaos.
  7. Brain Germain introduced me to a very nice expresion: DGIT = Dead Guy In Training Eveerybody on the dropzone can see them og just know that it just has to happen except for the DGIT - he/her cant get it. Steel is just one of them - he will not get it before its to late.
  8. Hey Allan - three out of six are norwegian. The two first ones are Belly (Leif Arne) and the last one Dag (from the PST Advanced in Voss). By the way - very nice pictures. I spesially liked the one over the hangar roof where you can see the shadow. Who is that by the way - cant tell by the picture.
  9. Its probably a reason why PA have changed the lower control lines to 400 p Dacron. If You have an "older" PGZ canopy with lower control lines of HMA and believe they will brake. Change them. Its an easy job and PA will send you new one in a short time. Better safe then sorry.
  10. Here is a link to High Performance Research - the comapny that makes the Blade and the Nitro ("same" canopie as the Nitron from PA). I hope you all understand German!! http://www.hipercanopies.de I dont know why i posted this on the Demon issue. Probably just mixed up some canopies. There are several new and interesting canopies in Europe right now.

  12. Well when you take a closer look at the picture of the Onyx on your webpage Dan, you can tell that this is not the final version. I really hope You have balanced the riser pressure better. On the picture of the Onyx there is now pressure on the C and D lines (take a closer look at the lines). I guess this is changed on the final version, or i hope? If not, the front riser pressure must be really high??
  13. Is there anyone out there who is surprised that downsizing from a 150 to 100 sqf canopy can end up in a crash??? As a rule you should never downsize more than 10 % (give or take a little) in one step, and you should not downsize and change type of canopy at the same time.
  14. If I had to choose between the three canopies you listed - i would go for a XF2 (but I have not jumped the Nitron - sorry PA). The XF2 is a good choice and the flare is really good. But the Samurai from BAS are the best 9-cell I have jumped so far. Its very responsive, the lines are really short and it makes the canopy fun to fly. Its also easy to recover fast if you have to, but because of really low front reiser pressure you can keep it in a dive for a long time. The flare its amazing. It keeps going when other 9-cell are out of air (because of the airlocks) and the bottom end are really nice. The only thing thats not so good are the openings. The Samurai opens straight on heading, but the snivel are a little short, and it felt hard (but again I am used to the Xaos that opens really soft andwith a long snivel). If the openings are hard Brain Germain can make it with a bigger slider that makes it snivel more. You should try it. You will be surprised how nice it is.
  15. It's not possible to swoop a Sabre??? What kind of bullshit is that. What do you think people used to swoop with in the early 90's??? I have seen Rickster Powell an other PD jumpers swoop their Sabre better then most people can swoop any canopy. Does anybody know what "the circle of death" is?? Its have been done with a Sabre.
