  1. what's everyones opinion on the camera flyer kind of assuming the role of AFFI in a way (giving pull sign, etc.)?
  2. I am not sure if this is a repost....if it is please point me to the thread I could not find it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQ6IYnoAxBs Instructor forgets to remove his tether.
  3. why did you leave? It seems you were comfortable there? Where are you going to be jumping most of the time?
  4. I understand you are a new jumper, but can you explain your thought process on why you would cut away? Was your leg through the risers as in, between the front and rear risers? Or suspension lines?
  5. and it appears to be over the chest strap somehow
  6. what were the reason for the cutaways? As in similar mals? Who was packing them?
  7. Vetran? That's what you consider yourself? That's actually quite laughable.
  8. Jesus H Christ, he pulls his reserve!!! My heart sank when I saw that, man-o-man. Is there a thread about this somewhere?
  9. May I ask what the hell you are talking about? Where do you get this information? Out of your ass doesn't count either. Are you also serious with this? You're just going to start "adding fuel" before you even have half a clue what the whole story is? Good on you... To the OP: Where did you buy the canopy? Was it from a retailer? You might have channels through them to get some attention, possibly even get a loaner from them. If you bought through your rigger/DZO, have you tried asking them for a loaner to put in your container? Maybe rent one at a cheaper price than an entire kit. Just a thought...
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=ck9--Vt4Nds&NR=1 you can skip to about :57 to see it...why do this?
  11. So what's your point? Nobody should ever jump anything > 0.7 WL? you can't be this ignorant...I mean do we really need to lay out the difference to you? The poster said "I feel safer under a higher wingloading" what do you think is "safer" (ie, less chance of smashing your limp body into the ground with no flare) if you happen to be incapacitated, a reserve with a 1.4:1 WL or around a 1:1? If you feel the need to argue this, then there is no hope for you. Of course I understand that. But what I am saying is that this argument is independent of experience. If you're saying that the reserve should be sized for an unconscious landing (which I don't agree with) then everyone should be jumping reserves at well under WL of 1.0 Ok you're right. To the poster about the higher wingloading: you say you feel safer with the toggle response of the higher loaded canopy. Do you have the same canopy for the main and reserve? If not you are aware I am sure that the flight characteristics are likely different. Also food for thought if you are willing to at least listen and think about changing your thinking, unlike some people. Finding yourself unconscious/incapacitated/paralyzed under a reserve is not that far out of the question. It has happend before, it will happen again, if it were you would you prefer to have a higher wing loading or lower? How about having to land out, with tight clearings? Do you want a high WL or low? Food for though, but listen to DocPop, he seems to have it all figured out :)

  13. This is one of the considerations, yes. Some feel that the main would act as a MARD, and all would be well. I'm not so sure, given the short length between the riser and the bridle attachment on the freebag, plus the RSL, Might have worked, might not have. Fortunately, we have a learning experience without an associated injury. my thougt was the reserve is pulled through the risers, then opens when the free bag is pulled off. now you have a 2 out but the reserve risers are passed through the main risers. If you are not aware what is going on, and you chop the main, it will travel up the reseve lines and possibly choke the reserve.
  14. talk to us when you are knocked out and cannot fly the canopy.
  15. What would be the appropriate response there? Hook knife to the rear main riser before cutting away? But just if you really have to cut away, I imagine it can be a side by side that can stay stable. I guess. I have a hook knife on my rig and I hope I would never ever have to use it. Chances are that I will ruin my shinny underwear if I have to . well my thought is if you don't realize that its through the riser and you cut away your main, your in for a world of hurt with nothing but chance left to save you. Cutaway main could choke the reserve as it travels up the lines.
  16. Highly unlikely, but can you imaine if the reserve stayed in the bag and went through the risers also? Then deploys and the jumper cuts away the main.
  17. So whats good for you must be good for everyone else? Who's "trolling" here? Stop giving out advice that you know nothing about. Good sir, which part of my reply insinuates advice of any sort? Perhaps a class in critical thinking and/or a bootcamp course in Logical Fallacies might serve you well before you start claiming I gave any advice. I put it in bold for you princess, people like you bring this sport down, know when to shut your mouth or better yet don't open it at all. Judging by your arrogant tone that comes across, chances are the world would be a better place if you did. Maybe you have little man's syndrome, based on your WL of under 1:1 on a 170??

  19. Hey OP don't worry, luckily not everyone is like this guy. Welcome to the sport, ask a lot of questions, do a lot of thinking and just take it all in!
  20. where did you find this little hot piece of data??
  21. Dave there is a 3rd option which unfortunately UNREASONABLE people choose frequently, it's they don't ask either and just figure it out on their own. You can't reason with an unreasonable person unfortunately, and when some of the most respected people in the hobby are telling you you're an idiot, and you don't listen, then you are a lost cause. Point blank, case closed. All you can do (and I am sure you know this more than a lot of people) is just stay the fuck away and warn others to do the same while you wait for the incident report.
  22. What does someones identity have to do with facts chief? Please tell me? Because I don't care to fill in some jump numbers that could/could not be real? You're not going to see my logbook...so whats that matter? It's just a stupid reason you use to avoid getting called out.
  23. It's humorous to me, and I am sure a few others, that you are even in a thread like this preaching ANYTHING. Don't forget where you were once chief, that's all that can be said.
