  1. I'll be with Winsor on that one. Not only the victim got himself killed, he risked the life of the pilot, and all the skydivers that were on board. It is awful, that he got killed, but it was his stupidity, not anybody else. I can not understand victim's family. Hope, they will lose in court.
  2. By....pisswater...you mean corona right?*** By pisswater I mean any beer, made with the high amount of adjuncts(=add junk)- rice, corn, maize. Those beers do not have a taste of either hops or maltiness. They include Corona, Bud, Miller, Coors, and some others.
  3. oh, please ! I'm talking about beer, not some pisswater
  4. Saw an analogous post about wines. My favourite are usually the ones I brew myself. After that are Belgian ales (Trapists, Abbeys, Lambics), German weizens, British bitters and pale ales, Irish stouts and doppelbocks. Oh, yeah, out of Americans I like Anchor steam beer and Alaskan smoked porter..
  5. i do not see a chechbox for flying !!!
  6. In reality you can do nothing about those scams. I was ripped off for $900 on Ebay. Went to FBI... They told me they can do nothing, unless I have lost 20 grand or more...
  7. May I ask you why ? I think Javs are great (even though I do not care for the main pin protection). But so undoubtely are Mirage, Wings, Infinity, Vector and others. There is no real leader btw them.
  8. Justin, Gun control will make it harder for law-abiding citizens to buy guns. Criminals, however, will not suffer. So, when citing the statistics please do not include in it the homicides committed by criminals with illegal guns. I was really dissapointed to find so many anti-gun people here, on dz.com. Based on your logic, general aviation should be banned, too. I come from Russia, where, after banning the guns, millions of people were murdered by the goverment. Exactly the same happenned in Germany, China, and in the rest of countries run by tyrants (except for Iraq, strangely). Switzeland has a culture of gun ownership - but so does USA - the second amendmend is the proof.
  9. Now there are two more things left for Bush to say out loud : that there were no WMDs and that the whole war was a bloody mistake... or even - crime.
  10. That was an advertising banner. I think it is some sort of hybrid para-skydiving
  11. Z1 is very robust. I've talked to a jumper, whose Z1 was ripped off by risers at 3K. He found it later on the ground. The only thing wrong with the helmet, was a small scratch. Both of his audibles were just fine. How's that ?

    Sony F717

Hi I have just bought myself a Sony 5mp camera. So far I'm very pleased with it. Have anybody used it for skydiving ? It has all necessary feautures - fast, manual focus, remote, etc. Any opinions will be appreciated.
  13. What some of us call "poor quality control" others call "own personality" Come on people, stop showing political correctness. Our lives depend on skydiving equipment, lets take it seriosly.
  14. Well, I understand that shit happens at every company. And it is normal. Name me at least one car company that did not have a recall at some point of time. But guess what - they are always paying for it ! Even for shipping ! But what I am also concerned with is the attitude of some manufacturers on this forum. I don't need to quote examples - you can probably remember whom I'm talking about. Even though I do not doubt that their product is superior, I will not buy anything from those guys.
  15. Well, do not you think it would be fair if all companies put the safety bulletins on their web sites ? So far I saw them on very few ones : Icarus, Altico, may be someone else as well.
  16. Sundevil, I won't do that, because I told in the beginning that I won't point my finger on anyone. Sorry. Vlad
  17. Hi, Kelly Thanks for replying. I think just the opposite way. If we hear from a manufacturer who tells us about cons in his products, and not his competitors', a majority of us, customers, would feel that this manufacturer is honest. Everybody knows, that every single system has it flaws. Being honest with customers will pay you. On the other hand, telling that your product is flawless as compared to others' will tell me that I won't get an honest answer from these guys. Everybody understands, that the more you wait, the better skydiving(and other) equipment will become. But, thinking like that, we won't buy parachutes, cars, computers, et cetera. We are happy, that the progress in skydiving equipment is not as fast, as in computer industry. I think I read somewhere, that in a year computers become twice as powerful, and 4 times cheaper. Imagine that with parachutes ! One more thing. If you are a manufacturer, please, please, do not say anything bad about others' products. Even if you are telling what you honestly beleive, it is hard for us to us to diffirentiate between those who do, and those who are just doing the marketing... Just my 2 cents.
  18. Hello, I know there are several manufactures here on the forum. I also noticed that they ( I won't point my finger) have a tendency of criticizing each others' products. Here is the question to you, guys. Can you honestly tell us about problems with YOUR OWN canopies/containers ? What don't you like about your current products, what would you rather change ? Come on, share with us
  19. Well, there I was in the theater, waiting for the "cool skydiving scene". What a disapointment !! The only jump in this movie was without doubt 100% computer generated. It did not look like a freefall at all. Why did director choose to use the computer animation (which sucked completely), if he could call a couple of us skydivers ?? No need to pay us - just give us a free jump !
  20. >>Jumping through clouds is a dangerous and >>stupid thing to do Well, that means that russian instructors and DZO's with thousands of jumps are stupid, because jumps through the clouds ARE permitted there, right ? May be pilots should really read the GPS manuals, because a GPS is a VERY exact thing. I would trust any GPS over ANY person's eyes, given that the pilot knows how to operate it.

Sometimes you DO need to turn it on. Example: if dropzone's altitude is differenent then the take off altitude (like in Hollister). In such case it is necessary to reset Cypres after each jump...
  22. >This is not to make fun of anyone this is a serious question >because people could and do get hurt with these attitudes. I do not agree. Rhino is just sharing his experience on the new canopy. He is neither recommending it for the beginners, nor suggesting, that Crossfire does not require canopy proffiecency. I found his reviews for both Crossfires pretty valuable..
  23. I think, Yuri Kuznetzov jumps a Stiletto..
