Based on the shooter's father's comments, the mass murderer simply hated gay people. Blame islam for that if you want, but hatred for gays is as equally christian as it is in islam. To me, it's just simple religious hatred for fellow humans.

    Nope. it's ISIS.

Yet another page reporting the same:

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2016/06/isis-announced-florida-attack-three-days-ago/

"UPDATE: Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) said the killer has links to ISIS."

  2. I've used Curv Z sunglasses for a long time now. $20-25, some have foam padding which helps with wind (used for motorcycles) and you can put an adjustable cord on them as well to keep them on your head better if you want. I generally don't wear them with my full face, but I do with my open.

  3. What really helped me was jumping as many coach jumps as I could and pounding out the tunnel. Once spin stops and roll overs are down, general belly flying in the tunnel is a huge help.

If we see a guy throw a Molotov cocktail, we now blame that on climate change. That's where the debate is.

In your head, yes, that's where the debate is. That's where "whatsupwSiththat.com" wants you to think that's where the debate is. But you know that's not really where the debate is.

I'm sure he's in reference to things like this: http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/study-climate-change-will-caus/25310658

"The study, published in the "Journal of Environmental Economics and Management," showed that climate change will cause an additional 22,000 murders, 180,000 cases of rape, 1.2 million aggravated assaults, 2.3 million simple assaults, 260,000 robberies, 1.3 million burglaries, 2.2 million cases of larceny and 580,000 cases of vehicle theft in the United States between 2010 and 2099."

You should go read O'reilly's talking points for today. He puts out hard evidence from CBS no less that basically blows this smear job out of the water.

MJ is crap, and anyone that takes them seriously needs to do a little self-examination IMHO.

  6. For the sake of the hypothetical set up, if confronted with an omnipotent being that literally created everything we know, sees all of the past and the future, etc. I'll put my money on Byrne not being nearly as brave and flippant as he'd like to pretend he'd be--especially if God is as wrathful as he likes to assert he is. He'd probably cower in a puddle of pee.

In fact, if God does exist, the idea that He's not tormenting Byrne already in total agony really defeats Byrne's own supposition that God is some sort of total monster (if exists) since said, crazy, stupid, angry, vengeful god would be tearing into Byrne for such remarks (ala the old Greek and Roman gods who did so all the time).

Ok multiple things going on here. The choke hold unless it caused trauma probably did not kill that guy. I think it was probably positional asphyxiation.

    ...

A famed forensics expert hired by the family of police chokehold victim Eric Garner said Friday the city medical examiner’s autopsy was spot on.

Dr. Michael Baden — after reviewing case files, photographs and X-rays — said he agreed with the ruling that the 43-year-old Staten Island man died from compression of the neck. The medical examiner “did an excellent autopsy,” Baden said outside the ME’s office on First Ave. at E. 30th St."

  10. I have a GSW, left ankle, all three bones fractured. By some miracle it was a clean break (nothing shifted) and the surgeon who looked at it for eval said I should by a lottery ticket. That being said, it was a couple of months before I was putting any pressure on it (crutches prior) with a walker cast. I can't imagine jumping on it only 4 months later. It gave me problems for about a year with any amount of high impact, and still flares up this day from time to time. Take it easy would be my advice (as others have said) and let it heal, especially if you are just barely walking as of now.

So I had a weird situation occur on two jumps today, both exactly the same way. On both jumps, I was part of a 3-way belly group. We broke off and tracked away at 5K, and I deployed at 3.5K. Upon deployment, I saw the canopy snivel for a couple of seconds, and then I was sent into a sharp right turn that resulted in 7-8 line twists on the first jump and 5-6 on the second jump. The canopy was at maybe a 35-40 degree angle from normal, and I was seriously ready to cut away. However, I eventually managed to kick out of the line twists. After kicking out of the line twists, I looked up and noticed that I had a right end cell closure, which I fixed by pumping the brakes. After I dealt with the above, I was around 1,500 feet and landed without incident.

I'm not sure why the above occurred, and two times in a row. I pack for myself and have never had this happen. In fact, I was extra careful packing on the second jump since I wanted to avoid any potential packing errors that may have caused the first incident.

I guess I was hoping I might get some input from the DZ.com crowd, either explanations or advice. Thanks in advance!

1,500 is really low for not having a canopy you know you can land. Was that the first time you looked at your alti during all of this? Do you know when you came out of the line twists?

  12. Ah, the magical climatology scientist. A wonderful creature, far elevated and evolved from the realm of man, that is completely immune to politics, funding, pride, group-think, peer pressure, and basic psychology that's ruled all other men since the dawn of time. With a wave of its hand, it can show that constant failures in predictions throughout decades as actual successes. It can survive blows to dogma that would have proven mortal any other discipline long ago!

Hail to you, climatology scientist! Truly, you are a sight to behold and worthy of all praise.

My extensive google research says type III is rated against .308/7.62x51 whereas one level down is IIIa which is rated up to .44 mag. So basically they're drawing the line against body armor that protects against most rifle rounds.

    .30-06, .338, etc. not withstanding.

My cynical translation of this proposed bill is, "if you get shot by a rifle round it means it was by a cop and you deserve it."

Correct. IIIA is the light version (stops most handgun rounds) while III will stop most rifle rounds. IV is rated to stop at least one AP rifle round.

  14. My first suit was a body sport that I picked up from someone else. I happened to like it and it served me well for some time. As for exits, cannonballs are fun, especially right off AFF. You're coaching from here to your A will cover exits (dives w/ swoops to be specific), so you'll get that soon enough. That said, being able to present into the wind right after launch and be stable is a skill you can't develop too soon or refine too much IMHO as a good launch can make or break a group dive.

For fuck sake rush . . . we have changed the fucking climate.
    Humans . . .
    Get the fuck over it.

Now, how MUCH is the debate.

Alarmists say it is a LOT.

Deniers say it is nothing or less.

If the debate is ranging from no caused change to a lot of caused change, then you can't really say its settled that we have changed the climate. Your first 5 lines are at odd with itself.

  16. I find it strange that people believe if there's a god that this life proves said god is sadistic. He/she is actually pretty tame if you come to think about it. If god is powerful enough to create everything, s/he's kinda weak sauce on the whole "I'm gonna make you suffer!" department. There's plenty of people in the world not suffering, even ones that don't curse him/her daily. And the ones that are suffering, if you *really* think about it from an academic standpoint, barely have scratched the surface of what could be. Not to take away from anyone's suffering, but if you're really talking about an omnipotent being wanting to make people go through "hell" I doubt we could even come close to fathoming what unlimited, negative power could do in regard to torturing someone. So I'd say that at worst this life would point to a god/gods that are distant and hands off than actually sadistic.

If you've never been there, you have no right to call it chicken shit.

“The so-called ‘psychotically depressed’ person who tries to kill herself doesn’t do so out of quote ‘hopelessness’ or any abstract conviction that life’s assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire’s flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It’s not desiring the fall; it’s terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling ‘Don’t!’ and ‘Hang on!’, can understand the jump. Not really. You’d have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling.”

Uh... that cuts both ways (not too mention is purely speculative). Try this on.

    The original:
"The reason: To admit that climate change is at least partially caused by human behavior would require action to curtail greenhouse gases. And only government can enforce such action. But that approach flies in the face of an anti-government ideology that has permeated much of the Republican Party."

    vs:

"The reason [Democrats blindly follow man-made climate change theories] is to admit that climate change is at least partially caused by human behavior would require action to curtail greenhouse gases. And only government can enforce such action. [and] that approach [requires Big Government which Democrats love]."

Course, I'll still give the theory credence when the science actually measures up to actual science: Neat models that actually predict something.

***An atheist has faith that God does not exist.

Umm no. An atheist uses the lack of any FACTS or EVIDENCE of the existence of any deity as the basis for their logical decision, not faith.

The other major difference is were there actual proof of a deity, atheists and agnostics would be open to it, whereas as the religious would dispute any facts, such as they do evolution, the age of the earth, etc.

This is all a logic fallacy as the question should not have ever been "Prove (insert deity name here) does not exist" but should be "Prove (insert deity name here) does exist."

When you get right down to it (and you can look at lots of debates of notable atheists vs notable theists), almost all the arguments against God are usually morally centered, not evidence or lack thereof. They usually take the form of "This happened and God--if He existed--wouldn't allow that, therefore He doesn't exist."

To say God doesn't exist requires omniscience.

Then to be consistent it's equally logical that to say monsters don't exist under my bed requires omniscience.

    Which is to say: nonsense.

    With all due respect. ;)

No, because you can check under your bed to see if there are monsters. You can't check everywhere (other dimensions included) to see if there's a God/gods w/o being all knowing or all powerful.
