Any good suggestions for camera flier exits from a 182 for recording outside vid? Right now we've been experimenting with dive outs, or being the 4th man on the step, outside (essentially a toe on the step, hanging from the strut). The dive outs are okay, but it's tricky getting the action on the hill, and we end up pretty high on the exit. 4th man, we just haven't mastered flying the hill from that contortion. When I started jumping I wondered why people in this day and age would decide to jump at Cessna DZ when there are so many turbines available. Then I went there... This is what skydiving is supposed to be all about! It's good people falling from the sky, hanging out, packing up and doing it again. I've jumped throughout New England and other places around North America, and you just can't beat the vibe at Danielson. Anyone who walks up is greeted, and taken interest in. No one gets left out of the conversation, including tandems and wofos. I can jump at three different turbine DZs, and I choose to make the drive to a Cessna DZ because I know I'll always be happy I went. No waiting around to find 9 or 10 other people to fill a load either. Just grab a couple or three friends, and you are on your way to altitude. Two planes running at the time of this review and a third on it's way means you get to pack and jump. Don't worry if you make a mistake or two, you won't be made to feel like dirt. Peeps on the ground will ask you what was up, and help you get your learn on without making a big deal of it. The only thing I'd say about cliques is; walk onto the DZ, and your already in the only one that exists there. Go jump and Danielson. You'll have a great day!

I've seen a hip mounted altimeter here and there on other jumpers, but have not gotten a chance to ask where/how they did it (not the kind of thing you talk about waiting on rear float). So... anyone have this mod? They are both great drop zones. It's like asking should you go somewhere good, or somewhere good. I did AFF at Pep, so that makes it my home DZ. The crew that is teaching there now is really committed. They'll teach you good stuff. Pepperell is actually a physically larger, easy to land DZ with more outs, though you seldom need the outs. They are flying 7 days a week most weeks. The wind is a bit of a PIA there, because it's squirrelly, so you'll watch while others jump many days. The vibe at SNE can't be beat. They are really friendly, mindful and easy to be around. I think they treat people with great respect, and there's a lot to be said for that. The landing area is a little rough, and you'll learn to land crosswind since the DZ is north/south oriented, and the wind is often from the west. No big deal, you learn it pretty quickly. Camping there is comfy with good showers and such. So bust out to Pep if it's a sneaky week day thing, and do SNE when you can go up and stay. You can do a little of each. Hey there, I'd like to get into CReW this year, but I have a container concern. I have a Reflex with a pop top reserve. I've noticed that from time to time on landing I would get a line from my canopy caught under the reserve pilot chute. With my last repack this didn't seem to happen, since the rigger got the pop top snuggled down extra firm. Anyway, what's your experience. Is it safe to CReW with a pop top? I have a passive vacume system that does fine. I have augmented it with a stirrup to be sure the leg lands with me. I would be concern about the harmony system because of the weight. The harmony system only helps the leg suspension with when it is being activated by walking on it. Soooo, in free fall, the system is no great help. If it's the most recent version, it's not as heavy, so it wouldn't hurt I guess. Hey Billy, Ya, thanks, I have looked for Pieces of 8. "Loose group" describes it well, double entendre and all. They exist as a group when more than one is talking to another. Beyond that, there's an early website from when Al Gore was still building the internet. That's about it. I've yet to figure out a way to connect with them. Hey, as a relatively new to the sport amputee, I noticed a certain lack of info in the world as well. Actually, when I had my amputation (below knee) in 2003, finding amp info in general seemed difficult! Whaooo! I just bought my first rig! I should get to jump it next week when the Vigil come in and gets installed. (yes, I demo'd the main & love it) Now, what do people typically do in terms of insuring rigs for damage, loss or theft?
