  1. Say Bob Sinclair. Say Skydiving. Or Sport Parachuting as we preferred in those days wanting to gain respectability. Bob brought a renegade activity to the era of sport. He was such a great representative to the public and friend of Parachutists. I spent time with him at Elsinore and the Rumbleseat Bar at Elsinore. When he told a story of the old days, it was of the first days. I made a jump or two and he signed my logbook a few more times. Blueskys Bob, they are going to love that 28 foot TU, see you in the clouds. Bill Davis, scr97 Blueskys & Fairwinds .. grayeagle (bill davis) .... 1st jump 1961 ...... scr97
  2. Condolences Bunny, I knew and jumped with George at Elsinore in the '70s but hadn't heard from him or what he was up to in years. Another pioneer skydiver passes on... Blueskys George; Rest In Peace on that cloud set aside for us. Bill Davis, scr97 (also in my 70s)
  3. BSBD Warren from another oldtimer from Elsinore. Blueskys & Fairwinds .. grayeagle (bill davis) .... 1st jump 1961 ...... scr97
  4. It saddens me that Ed is gone although we knew the time was near. A truly fine man. An American hero. A man many called friend. He lived a life worthy of all the accolades one can give. A man's man, a honorable American and a forever a skydiver. I can't remember the man without a smile and a laugh to cheer you up. I was always drawn to him for his love of life. A humble man -- he was the best man and American I have personally known in my lifetime. Blueskys & Semper Fi, Bill Davis, scr97
  5. My hamster is loose on the keyboard and typing to you ... How do I say Thank You Pat for all the skydives, the inspiration, the friendship you gave me. The same for Betty (the boss). Our love to Lisa, Preston and Alana. Jerry and Barbi too. Blueskys, Fairwinds to an original Elsinore Skygod. . . . more later Bill & Betty Davis ps... enclosed is a picture of Pat taken through Jerry's arm at the Old Farts Meet in the desert; Oct 2004. 6. Thanks for the effort in putting together another memorial place on the internet for skydivers. It is important for all to remember those whose shoulders we all stand on. But remember everyone doesn't subscribe to Facebook or can't access it from every computer we use. Having said that, I followed the link and saw the initial entries -- as long as it remains a "public page" it will be an welcome addition to Dropzone(dot)com's ''Blue Skies'' forum. 7. I am so sad to hear this. Jim and I were great friends in Elsinore's "good old days". Jim is scr96; I'm scr97 -- we qualified on the same jump and went on to make many high quality skydives at Elsinore and elsewhere. As Ed Miller said, he was a natural at whatever he tried. He told the story many times, and it was true, of his first jump. He hung out at the Elsinore for a few weeks watching and listening, then bought a rig offsite, and showed up on the day he chose, walked up the the manifest and said "Give me a ticket to 7-5" He then proceeded to make a perfectly stable 30 sec delay ... the rest is history. Blueskys Jim, I am better for having known ya. Bill Davis, scr97
  8. Here is a picture I took of Kevin and the other 'pallbearers' at the ash dive for Joe Faulk on 9-26-09. One is a crop of just Kevin. Blueskys & Fairwinds .. grayeagle (bill davis) .... 1st jump 1961 ...... scr97
  9. OMG I don't believe it. I was just talking to him on the phone last week. He was going to buy another house in Verdi, near Reno, and invited me up to go fishing. What a shock. I first met Kevin, so long ago, at the Elsinore Rumbleseat one night when he came in with a cast on his leg roaring, "Does anybody have a hacksaw!" I cut his cast off and we proceeded to have few pitchers then jumped the next day. And for many years after. He made me a Pope. So long my friend, Blueskys & Fairwinds .. grayeagle (bill davis) .... 1st jump 1961 ...... scr97

  11. Gary Douris was my very good friend -- we made many jumps together at Elsinore. Shared many stories and made a few together. Here is a photo of us on a 28,000 ft oxygen jump over Elsinore. Fortunately we shared some of those stories a couple of weeks before he died. I miss him. Blueskys & Fairwinds .. grayeagle (bill davis) .... 1st jump 1961 ...... scr97
