  1. Frank Knapp taught me to skydive at Eagleville in the early 80's. Nothing but good memories of him and many fun weekends. Seems like forever ago now. I was sad to hear of his passing. I reconnected with him last year. I know he was at peace with God and man. There are some good - old - videos from those days on the 'Eagleville Fantasy Airport' facebook page. Blue Skies Frank.
  2. Notta, 6, 5 First jump on my new rig, first jump at a new DZ, first jump out of a CASA, first "horny gorrilla", first sitfly attempt.
  3. I jumped here while visiting the Raleigh-Durham area for the weekend. The DZO and staff were very friendly making me feel immediately welcome. Manifest was very efficient, managing a large number of students and upjumpers on 12 loads in a CASA in one day. Although there was some local aircraft traffic to watch out for, the landing area is large and a short walk into the hangar used for packing. There were no load organizers, and I had to introduce myself around and kind of look for others that appeared not to be on a team or in a group. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely recommend this DZ.
  4. I agree that you have been given a gift. Unlike many other skydivers with lots of jumps, you KNOW you are not going to wig out if you have a problem. Basically, the same thing happened to me in 1984 with only 15 jumps. I had a total malfunction (hard pull) while demo jumping a used rig that a rigger had packed for me. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed in him. But, took it back, repacked everything with some modifications to the deployment system and jumped it again. Ended up buying it. Point is: Get back on the horse!
  5. I going to be at Perris tomorrow and I'd be happy to jump with you. I have about 215 jumps but getting back into the sport after a long absence. I need all the RW practice I can get. Green "Life is Good" T-shirt. See Ya!!
  6. Interesting comments. I'm 4 years divorced and have 1 more year of alimony left. I CAN'T WAIT! There is going to be a serious party somewhere! Although my overall net worth is probably less post-divorce, I think my potential to build future wealth is much better than it was. Besides that, what is the value of freedom? I do not hate or despise my ex-wife. In many ways she made me a better man. At the time, I loved being married. But when I see her now, I mostly just notice the things I didn't like about her. My two cents.
  7. I'm returning to the sport after a 25 year break! Why? Women. I'll let you figure that one out. Anyway, been jumping in warmer climates this winter, but I'm looking forward to going over to Waverly in a couple of months. I jumped this past weekend at the Atlanta Skydiving Center and it was a GREAT time! I would recommend that DZ to anyone. They are jumping a King Air, 13000' in about 10 minutes! Not only do they have great rental gear and facilities, they are some really friendly folks. I was made welcome right away and introduced around. If anyone is interested in carpooling down there on a weekend, send me an email. I also have access to an airplane to fly down, which would be very reasonable if three of us split it. I hope to hear from some Nashville jumpers.
