  1. Interesting thread on what seems to be a great aircraft. I was impressed with the quality of build with it and it should be a tuff strong airframe for many years. When i first saw the Kodiak at Airventure in '08 the first thing i noticed was the wing. I have seen it before fitted to several amphib Beavers in the Whitsundays Australia way back in 2001. The Beavers had extended fuse and seated 10 pax and performed much better with the new wing but limited to the old tired radials. Looking forward to seeing the Kodiak being used here in Oz. only chance for me tho is winning the 50million on thursday night. More reports from DZ operators as they log more hours would be nice to read. cheers robes
  2. rwcat, Small world, i know Ken although i haven't seen him for a few years. Cheers
  3. One on jump number 15. hand deployed front mount then chopped the cheapo as it was occillating pretty bad and srewing up the 24 footer. turned out i jumped a field packed cheapo. still had a couple of daisy chains in the lines when picked up. 2nd was when the right riser was somehow disconnected in freefall, R3? type cutaway system. pitched to find only half a PC, completed the other side and onto a tri con round reserve. PA Trim Pig rig. no problems since. good gear and consistant packing.
  4. The live jump recently on the Seven network a couple of days ago had two feeds to the ground below one from camera flyer and one from a wristmount go pro on the tandem. Both feeds were bounced straight to satelite and into the studio in Sydney then around the country. The jump is on You tube under 'Grant goes Skydiving''.
  5. The team behind Grant are specialsits in 'live feed'. Many of his weather presentations have been from some of the most isolated areas in Australia. Not very often do they miss the half hourly presentations between 6 and 9 am. The Seven network has been developing remote cameras for motor sports since the late seventies. What you see in your Nascar in car footage is from equipment developed by them. Grant also races V8 Supercars, Holden (GM) vs Ford. Any one in the USA ever heard of the Bathust 1000? A 1000klm race around public road on a mountain. Have a look on you tube for some of the most spectacular road racing ever done. If the mountain don't get you the kangaroos will.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njZZPvIZ1jY 'Grant goes skydiving' It's up on you tube. Channel 7 Sunrise is touting this as a world first real time feed. Sorry to tell them it had been done before with an Aussie called Daryl Somers on what used to be a very popular show called "Hey hey it's Saturday". They did a live feed jump out of Darwin some 20 years ago. Over all Grant's jump was great and did a lot to promote the Aussie nationals being held over Easter. Grant is a bit of a thrillseeker and gets all types of crazy dares to do whilst reading the weather.
  7. Our club, NSPC in Oz, has a member that just turned 78 last Sunday. He started 6 years ago and now has over 1200 jumps. flat fly, wingsuit, base jumps. no keeping the old bugger down. he even still packs his new ZP faster than most of the rest of us. Only thing we can't get him to do right is track in a straight line.

Love it but no one wants to pack it. Can it be flat packed?
  9. So that's the story behind the photo of the blue DC3 sitting on the trailer in Andy Keech's "Skies Call 2" book. I have stared at that photo many times over the years looking at the damage and that prop chop, wondering if any one got nailed by it. Robes
  10. I was setting up my new Go Pro on the weekend and just did not feel 100% on the helmet mount contact area etc. I have decided to go with a helmet mount from Cookie Helmets. Bolts to the helmet at 4 points. Adjust 360 degs. Low profile. Waiting for it now.
