  1. Things have moved along in the last 3 years and now we are evolving into more of a "demo" model. We are excited to have now added Squirrel wingsuits to our existing fleet.

Last season we added some R Bird Pro suits and now for 2018 we can meet more requests for demo suits, just drop us a line. The high-end race suits might be a challenge but if there is enough demand we will solve the problem.

Next project is a website refresh... :)

  2. I have been toying with jumping all 50 states since by accident I have a decent chunk. Then it occurred to me that all of mine have been wingsuit jumps. Has anyone wingsuited all 50 yet?

    Thanks!

  3. I have done all of the above in my R Bird Pro. XRW relies on an equal match of suit/pilot and canopy/pilot and that can make or break any suit but overall I find it has the float needed without too much speed.

We just added R Bird Pro to our rental mix so that people can give them a go.

  4. It normally happens if someone turns up to a PPC in a suit that isn't in the database, then the judge adds it.

By that logic you should jump a round reserve.

That just isn't realistic and since there are many times you won't be unconscious it makes sense to have something that you can land.

The point is that everyone thinks about what reserve they can "land" when there are scenarios, especially in wingsuiting, where you won't be in control. I personally know of 3 wingsuiters that had no part in landing their reserve.

His reserve WL is about 1.5, not really high by nowadays standards imo.

And that snivel truly isn't helping in situations like this, if ever...

It's not so great to be so highly loaded if you are unconscious and unable to control the canopy.

  7. It bugs me that any suit that won't do a front loop (fruity loop) is called "acro". Really we are just refering to suits that backfly and transition well, that isn't full acro. I think that's just me though. ;)

But I totally agree with the point that people are in big suits way too quickly. It's always been a problem but the marketing from manufacturers now more than ever seems to promote it.

On a brighter note, I am fairly new but know some of these people are still actively flying.

    Elana Cain
    Paul Cain
    Brian Caldwell (on DZ.com some)
    Scott Callantine (on DZ.com some)
    Simon Repton (on DZ.com some)
Michael Swearingen (Leading grid formation flocks)
    John Kallend
    Mark Krasinski
Dennis Sattler (recovering last year from an injury)
    Mark Harris
Matt Hoover (less WS and more FF)

    It's true!

Simon Repton - still Wingsuiting. Founded Wicked Wingsuits (wingsuit rentals) in 2010. USPT memember at first wingsuit World Cup. Won Gold at US Nationals in Acro and then Silver at the World Cup. Just moved to Deland, Fl to work for Aerodyne.

Have mostly great memories from the 68 way. Shame about Steve. To this day I hear wingsuiters swear that you you can't hit the tail of an Otter....

  9. The rules normally read something like the following. This is from the FAI Competiton Rules for Wingsuit Flying.

7.4.3 The camera must be fixed by a static mount to the helmet. No roll, pitch or yaw movements of the camera, mechanical and/or digital zoom adjustment, or any digital effects (excluding “steady shot” or other image stabilization feature) may be used during competition jumps. Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in a score of zero (0) points.

I think the part that everyone is forgetting about is if you are jumping enough to justify a wingsuit specific rig, you are more than likely a load organizer or a coach (or a sponsored athlete). That means you'll probably have at least two rigs to turn loads at a larger event (unless you pay for a really fast packer). Also if you want to do ANY other type of jumping, you would need to bring a normal container fit for all other disciplines. This means you will need at least 3 rigs at all times to keep up with loads as well as be able to jump something else other than wingsuits. Again this is only my opinion, but I feel that the market for a wingsuit specific rig is so small, I am curious why they even bothered in the first place.

The funny thing is I don't know any WS organizer that uses 2 rigs that way. We still have to wait for the group to pack, so what's the point?

When we were doing team training we didn't use 2 rigs either, because we still couldn't beat the plane down in the way that a non-ws team can. To even stand a chance we would have not only needed a second rig but also a second suit. $$$'s

I think this is specifically aimed at performance wingsuiters where a very small % of drag reduction can give a competitive advantage. We take off go pro mounts and remove chest mount alti's to reduce drag, so in theory a streamlined container could make a small difference.

Crap. I hope they get their act together. I have to fly out of Melbourne at the end of the month, with 2 rigs.. [:/]

The biggest problem I ever had with my rig was returning to the US thru Melbourne. The rig was too heavy for carry on and also not allowed because it was a parachute. They did let me check it after much dicussion. That was in 2010ish.

  13. I have forgotten once, that I know of. It was a typical story of being rushed and distracted and not completing a basic gear check.

I don't mind admitting it because we are all human. People that say they will NEVER forget to turn it on are the ones to worry about. It's kind of like the saying that pilots have about flying a retractable gear and landing gear up.

"There are those that have, and those who will"

K I'll do as many as I can with the FFC wingsuit. I spoke to Phoenix fly. Recommend 100 not 200.

    No jump number isn't correct.

It makes more sense not just for safety but also performance if you get your hands on an intermediate suit for logging those jumps.

***Flock 'n' Dock Announcement: In order to make the event as awesome as it possibly could be, we have decided to only hold it every other year. Don't miss Flock 'n' Dock 13 in 2017 because you won't get another chance until 2019!

    Hope I live that long.

Does that mean 13.5 will be in 2018?

Yes, we will do some sort of Wingsuit event and we are working on it being in an exotic location. There will be fun to be had it just won't be on the same full on scale of traditional Flock n Dock.

We really enjoy putting on the event and seeing everybody.

    hello guys,

didn't see any post on Storm VS Epicene.

ANy of you jumped both of them and want to share expericence pros and cons?

    Thank you.

I would also look at the Aerodyne Pilot7. I have over 800 jumps on a Storm and the Pilot7 really takes 7 cell to another level. Good openings, fun responses and surprisingly a glide like a 9 cell.
