  1. To all of you guys/gals who can jump and look cool doing it, I have a question. I have 12 jumps and need to know what type of progression I should be looking at. What I mean is what is the next thing I should be working on? I can exit and level out quick, I enjoy working on canopy control, but I need to know what freefall techniques I should be working on, in order. For example, I can do my 360's and stop on heading and flips, should I start working on back-flying, sit-flying, etc. I would like to get something else to make it interesting, so please give me some feedback. Thanks. Blue skies! Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  2. Very true. I actually have a great, not-partial Army doc, a good VA team, and was actually out-sources to one of Cali's leading Neuro-surgeons for my surgery. A second surgery was discussed, but as of now has been discounted. I'm looking at nerve abilations and continued physical therapy/meds (however I began refusing meds a while ago, not good for ya). 3. I'm also younger- 27, but I had a cervical diskectomy and fusion thanks to a combat injury from Iraq. My recovery went terrible and it turns out my spinal canal isn't as wide as it used to be, therefore causing inflammation to my nerve foramen. Also, I have degenerative disk disease (arthritis) pretty bad. I found that as long as I workout regularly, do yoga, and stretch in general prior to jumping, I feel great! I am in pain 99 percent of the time, but skydiving does nothing to hurt my injury further (yet). I'm sure if I couldn't convince either chute' to open it may cause further damage to my neck- but that's just a guess. Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  4. They only asked for a few hours resupply? You would think people would plan for a few days alone. Just strap up a kep and ride it in... mission accomplished and cool points. Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  5. I am proud to have been able to serve my country. There are brave men and women doing so right now- let's remember them. Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  6. I'm in the U.S. Army awaiting my undesired medical retirement due to combat injuries. I have performed such missions in both theatres of war. I believe I have exhausted that option. Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  7. Thank you. I'm planning on getting it as soon as the weather/holiday season allows. My one regret was waiting so long to get it done. Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  8. Ok, I apologize. That is a different website than the one I was looking at. The other one had RAM as a support element apparently. Thank you. Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  9. I checked the website and it said they filed for 'dissolution' and were giving thanks to all of the volunteers. Am I missing something? Could be the case. Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  10. Since Remote Air Medical no longer operates, does anyone know of an organizations that does similar operations- train to jump into natural disaster remote areas to provide medical help to the local populace? If so please let me know, thanks. If not, does anyone want to start up a small humanitarian assistance mission like such?? Curious..... 11. Yeah, I met a guy the other day who jumps at Elsinore and talks highly of it and I'm dying to jump from Perris' DC9- that's just awesome and comfortable. Come out to Cali and jump with us! Mike "If we don't know life, how can we know death?" - Confucius
  12. The 'renting' discussion is skewed by society! There are two separate societal norms at work here- Social norms (consensual, non-paid-for sex) and Market norms (paid-for-sex). It's like asking a buddy to help you move your furniture, as opposed to offering $20 to do it. He/she is more likely to offer the 'favor' scenario (social norm) as opposed to the cash scenario (market norm). This fact is where the problem in 'renting' happens- some women (and some men) associate receiving money for intimacy as degrading and inappropriate due to the social norms society has set up- religion labels it as deviant, law enforcement/government does the same, therefore, society as a whole does (surprise huh). If one researched the cave-man era, one would realize that relationships- just like the rest of civilization- was primitive. Sex/intimacy began as a survival of the fittest quality to ensure our species procreated, but as we evolved as a species/society, sex became an object of pleasure. Have you ever thought about 'why' our bodies naturally feel good during the act?? We're groomed that way by nature; it ensures our desire to continue procreation. All in all, I do not see why it is stigmatized by society- some people (whether women or men) enjoy said occupation: some are capitalists and have to do what they must (male homeless beg for money, whereas female homeless earn it), while others can have a graduate degree yet choose the opportunistic path of a 6 figure life. Ladies (notice the word usage) continue life with/without 'renting' and forget what others say/think because they are not in your shoes. 13. AFF is behind me and I have began the journey to the coveted "A" license (dramatic music plays). Next jump is #10- too much fun. After being in Iraq and Afghanistan, I needed to find my 'center' and finally, I did! Skydive Hollister (Hollister, CA) has great instructors and a great community. Live on!
