ROFL Um, no thanks. 1. I haven't been drunk enough to pull a stunt like that in over a decade. 2. I DO have to get up in the morning to write those reports, which I would never do if I did get that drunk. 3. I already have someone to inspect my goods. But thanks for the idea. In case something does change, like winning a snowball fight with a flamethrower. Sincerely, Kevin

No one chose this one?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zO69d-FY4c These guys are pretty funny. IMO, of course. Sincerely, Kevin

What a complete puss. He deserved to be yanked out of that vehicle and rolled up. I hope he is out of the military by now. He has clearly never worked a checkpoint in his young life. Sincerely, Kevin

It's Friday night. I have four reports due on Monday (I'm in a military school for those who aren't tracking). Instead of typing, I'm sitting at my laptop with a bottle of Guinness in front of me watching skydiving videos on youtube and reading DZ.com forums while they load. Why? Well, because the SIM I printed out and had spiral-bound at Staples is in the car. Otherwise, I'd be reading it. I can't wait to get to Hawaii and get this AFF thing underway!! EDIT: I just had another interesting thought. If I had a container, I could put it on and do practice touches/pulls while lying on the coffee table. Buuutt, I don't have a container. Sincerely, Kevin

Saturday 22 Jan at Eloy (nothing impressive, just talk)

And apparently I misused some terminology. With a drop zone being the larger area, I suppose I should have said that there were two LA's or landing areas. The "main" one, directly to the north of the spectator area and then the alternate (?) to the south east of the spectator area. Sorry if that confused anyone. Sincerely, Kevin -

Funny how that works, isn't it? -

Hi all, I decided to blow off some steam and had some time, so I rode up from Sierra Vista to Eloy yesterday. The intent was to try to get some unscheduled tunnel time, but I couldn't swing it. They had an opening at 4:00, but I had to get back to do some work before that, so it couldn't happen. There were a couple of teams there. I saw Arizona Arsenal and a team from China. That's all I remember, but there may have been others. I was going to try to get the AA on video coming in. I was digging the synchronized landings, but I had to bail before they went back up. I hung out around the riggers watching them pack. I have watched several videos on youtube on packing and then seeing it in person made it make more sense. I spoke with one of the riggers (Sam) for about an hour. Good guy. He seemed talkative, and I'm inquisitive, so it worked out. But all of them (there were two girls and three guys, one on a unicycle -
Yeah, not so much. I am in a pretty good place right now and, albeit unlikely, getting caught up in a copyright investigation would pretty much screw up the next ten years of my life. But, I do appreciate your input. Sincerely, Kevin

Hm. I will try that. Thanks. Sincerely, Kevin

Oh I didn't add a soundtrack. It's whatever the DZ edited into the video. I don't see how to remove it on this software, either. I appreciate the input, though. Sincerely, Kevin

Well, I'm praying for a smooth procedure and fast recovery. Sincerely, Kevin

My daughter expressed interest in Sony Movie Studio. I don't know if she ever bought it. I'll play with it some more and see what I can do. I tried to upload what I had to youtube last night, but it said that video was copyright protected and not viewable in the US. So much for that. Not sure how I feel about buying a 5-minute video for a hundred bones and not being able to use it as I see fit, but I guess that's like buying a DVD for $20 and not being able to upload it. Sincerely, Kevin

Any updates. I came into this a bit late. Sincerely, Kevin

I appreciate the input, however if I were to consider dropping enough on this to buy a new system altogether, I'd buy software for what I already have. I'm not knocking Apple. One of my very good friends has one and loves it. I'm just not willing to invest very much to solve this little irritation. Sincerely, Kevin

Not anime porn. I think that's called hentai. aye Sincerely, Kevin

LOL Yeah, um, no professional software for me, thanks. I will never need that. My daughter (who makes a hobby of creating videos based on her favorite anime movies) found something that was less than $100, but even that isn't worth what I'll use it for. Thanks for the input. Sincerely, Kevin

Hi all, So I'm playing with Windows Live Movie Maker in Win 7. The video of my daughter's tandem jump was split into a few different clips. I loaded them all and saved it, but the transitions are still apparent, even in the single video that resulted. Does anyone know how to merge videos with this program? I looked online and didn't get anywhere, but one user suggested installing an earlier version (such as the WMM for XP). Is there no other way? Thanks! Sincerely, Kevin

I just set my 4-minute reservation for Skyventure Arizona for Monday at 10:00. Whoohoo!! Gonna try to get some turns in this time without face-planting the wall. Haha Sincerely, Kevin

Well, I have been commended on being "coachable and teachable," especially in areas in which I am ignorant. If Ernie Els tells me to hold a club differently to facilitate better contact with a golf ball, I'm gonna listen. If an AFF coach tells me to move my hand a half-inch to the left to facilitate more stable free fall, I'm gonna move it. There are very few things in which I have enough comfort to take advice with a grain of salt. I assure you that skydiving is not one of them.

Well, I don't drink beer very much, so when I do, I usually drink A (as in one) Guinness or Young's (Double Chocolate Stout is outstanding). However, when I get on the ground, I will make sure I have a couple of cases of piss, I mean more economical examples, on hand. Just joking. I wouldn't do that to anyone. At least some Sam Adams, but maybe not in cases. I am really looking forward to it! I'm telling you, when I said "aggressively pursuing," that wasn't an understatement. If it can be done, I plan on having the AFF complete in a weekend, then hopefully my A License in my pocket three weeks after that. I ain't playin! haha Sincerely, Kevin

Aloha Arvil and HALO1!! The biggest question I have regarding PSD is that there are two different prices/packages. For instance, http://www.pacific-skydiving.com/aff_pricing.htm has two tandems and four student-piloted for $990 and http://www.pacific-skydiving.com/students.htm has two tandems and three student-piloted for $1234. Now, in the grand scheme, the difference isn't a show-stopper, but for planning purposes, which should I reference? Each states that I'm required three coached jumps within the remainder to get my license. What would be the cost of those coached jumps. Also, what could I consider a range for gear rental? Money will not be an issue, per se, but is always a consideration, and I need an idea of what to earmark. Lastly, as I have seen on youtube, that there are videos taken of many AFF jumps at all levels. Is that the case and, if so, are those videos made available to the student? Mahalo!! (I'm practicing my Hawaiian phrases

I appreciate the input. The reason I had decided on PSD was because the SDH website doesn't seem to be as clear-cut regarding their student program and I can't get any clarification via email. The default response is "drop by the DZ when you get here." I understand that they are probably busy, but it takes only a few minutes to send some better info. Maybe someone who is up to speed on both will chime in and help with comparisons and general info. Thanks again. Sincerely, Kevin

Hi all, As I have mentioned, I'm going to be stationed in Hawaii with arrival in May. At that point, I am going to aggressively pursue my license at the mentioned DZ. Is anyone here a regular there? Thanks Sincerely, Kevin
