Want to film tandems? A tandem rating is a good measure. AFF same thing. Hahaha, This is really off the mark. Sounds good, maybe, in the world of Internet skydiving instruction. But in real life skydiving tandem masters are most often the least skilled fliers on the DZ. 8 out of 10 couldn't film a tandem or even give a coach jump. Tandem masters filming skydiver would be a disaster. Some are current and talented in other disciplines but the majority are rote drogue chuckers who couldnt turn 2 points in a four way.

Mine is 7 grand. I think it's a bit conservative but reasonable. What's your lowest non emergency tandem exit?

Brian's course has some great information. In fact, 10% of it is downright invaluable. The other 90% is about Brian Germain. If you love Brian Germain as much as he does, you will love his course!

Why not take the guesswork out of it and just unzip the wingsuit to check leg straps normally? You don't have to take your rig off, nor your chest strap. It takes two seconds and you zip it back up. Feeling around through the jumpsuit seems ridiculous and unreliable. Why even bother if you're not going to give a real gear check?

Agreed. I know 4 recent SE tandem candidates who have been complaining about the same problem. They have bugged their evaluators and have been assured the paperwork is in. This thread is good because it has forced SE to respond. The op has done a service to others in the same boat.

Your view point is understandable. Affirmative action is a tough topic and very hard to explain as something other than reverse racism. But I support it. The following is my rationale. If you mug somebody, take all of their possessions and beat them up, is it enough to say " ok, i wont do that again", or should you give the person their stuff back? Is it fair to say, ok, you're now naked and own nothing, but we are now equal and have the same opportunities? No.. Through slavery and Jim Crow laws which lasted nearly 200 years, blacks were forced into situations of poverty and discrimination. We systematically took away their rights and opportunities. We abused them and put them at immense economic disadvantage and can now see the resulting disparities. People who beielve in affirmative action do not think its ok to simply say " we will stop abusing you now, we are equal" and wait 200 years for blacks to catch up. Basically, we are a mile ahead, and its not fair to restart the race with blacks back at the start line. Where groups do not willingly diversify to ensure equal treatment of all hires, affirmative action is justified and necessary.

Welcome to skydiving. You are experiencing and learning about a well known problem in our sport. It's called the "skygod". They are very good at skydiving and absolutely rude and counter productive at teaching skydiving. The problem has gotten better in recent years but still remains. The irony is you have come to the Skygod clubhouse to vent about it! Ha. Here is where skygods go to pat each other on the back, yell at students, claim superiority and drown puppies. This is not real. 99% of the people you will actually meet in skydiving are not like that. Laugh it off. At real DZs you will mostly meet really greet people.

You don't get it. We are talking about two different things. I was talking about "understanding" the risks. You are talking about skill level. We all take on our own desired levels of risk. The risk might have been great. But if that's their choice I support it. You will say student de facto cannot understand the risk. I disagree. And yes, if it were legal, as this jump was, and someone wanted to skydive on their own, their first jump, I would support that. What an awesome rush that would be! Good times.

Your colossal amount of arrogance astounds me. You have no idea what motivated these two adults. While you are on the Internet seeking your own attention by dogmatically denouncing these people, they are out there living their lives. Having fun. There are students who have engineering degrees or whatnot, who do their research and immediately understand this sport. Likewise, there are moron drooling caveman tandem instructors, who have 10,000 tandem jumps and can barely tie their shoes! .... let alone understand complex thought. I don't have much to say because your posts speak for themselves. It's obvious to everyone you are a typical trailer park sky god who can barely skydive other than throw a drogue.
