  1. My youth, and I don't mean my twenties, I mean my thirties. Certainly not my teens! Those sucked Well, maybe, my twenties, because (only knowing what I know now, and if I knew then...) I could look forward to my thirties. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  2. just giggling! Oh wait, we are changing the world. I take that back. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  3. It only works if he never finds out you did the slashing! Edited to add: he is probably following this and every other thing you are posting wherever. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  4. It's a tough call for me to make from a distance, but I'd be tempted to get the new tires and say "Happy Birthday, don't expect no cake and candles this year." Taking away the cake is just plain mean. It's your kid! The candles are negotiable, however lisa p.s. I like the slashing idea; it proves a point, keeps the kid off the road in an unsafe situation, offer to pay for new tires with the expectation of repayment. Just follow up or it is for naught (as a lesson)! lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  5. This is my chorizo recipe. Everything is "to taste", which is the way I cook. I never measure.
  6. Not all quantity is volume, sometimes it is count. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  7. On purpose? lisa No but it was all good. I finally got stable subterminal, progressed to terminal and then specialised in flat spins for another 20 jumps. All I can say is yippieeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Round and Round and round and rounddd and rooooundddd and woooohl round? Puke Puuke Puuuuuuuukke. Nice start! lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  8. I think a lot of people quit due to fear in the static line days. There was a lot to learn and a lot to remember. With the invent of the tandem, there isn't a lot to learn or do on the first few jumps. And for those who go on their initial fear of the unknown has also diminished. I had 5 takeoffs in an aircraft before I ever had a landing in any aircraft . I had never been in an airplane before my first jump. I got scared and rode it down (what would have been jump #5) . He (Billy Reed) made me do two more static line jumps (I guess to prove the point I was serious?) and then "mmmm, freefall :-)" lisa edit to say this was 1978 lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  9. Unless you have 505 hp at your disposal, you sir, are an asshole . If you do, when the cop in the left lane who saw you do this at 85 mph, comes up, and when he passes you, shakes his finger at you , you just count yourself very lucky
  10. " got to terminal it was all good thought." Only good thoughts at that point, otherwise the bad thoughts screw up the skydive! lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  11. Also, don't be surprised if they can stay just where they are.
  12. Q. What do wear under your kilt? A. Shoes and socks. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  13. I didn't go from the time I was 15 til I was over 40 (scaredy-cat-me). Before you all say "gross", I was religious about brushing. When I screwed up enough courage to finally go, I figured I would be in the chair forever and get a full dressing-down. It amounted to about 5 minutes of poking/checking, 5 minutes of "scraping" and the polishing.
  14. Bin ~drinkin' champagne! Boilermaker (you know ...drop a shot glass of tourbon into a mug of beerd) +1 lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  15. But I'm enough of a language geek that I think it's fun to try. I learned a new one this weekend, thanks to The Economist. The phrase "just deserts" (as in, you got what was coming to you) is spelled just as I spelled it. The magazine used it several times in a single article, and since they usually get stuff right, I found myself looking it up and learning something new. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/just-deserts.html http://www.snopes.com/language/notthink/deserts.asp That just goes to show you that every rule in English has an exception. I was always taught the way to remember which way to spell desert/dessert is: deSert= Sand / deSSert= Strawberry Shortcake. Go figure lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  16. Please feel free to pick this post apart. It seems flawless to me, but I am sure that there is something out of place. lisa Proper names are usually capitalized.
