  1. I was 19 when I started working at the manifest as a freelancer (2 to 8 days a month) one and a half year ago, age wasn't that much of a problem for me. It took some of the older skydivers a couple of weeks to start taking me seriously but my young age also meant that I became proficient in working with the software pretty fast. The hard part is that it can be a very stressful job and everyone blames you for everything that goes wrong (be it long waiting time because it's busy or a weather hold), including your friends. So far I haven't lost any friends over it though, I like doing it and it makes for enough money to at least pay for most of my jumping. :) "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... 2. there you go, clicky it is :) oh and this: [inline CapsLocksmall.jpg] Edited to add: "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump
  3. Have a look at Rsuits, Ruta made me a really nice freefly suit, and it was ridiculously cheap (and fast!). She can make almost anything you want, you can even design your suit yourself if you'd like. I haven't used mine in the tunnel much yet (45 mins or so), but apart from the fact that my zipper sometimes comes down a bit, it flies nice. I think she fixed the zipper thing in her newer designs by the way. http://www.facebook.com/rutkinsuits [inline Image21-edit2.jpg] "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... 4. yes, but only the plug part of it, I don't wanna buy a whole new switch. "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump
  5. Just when I finally thought I'd found one: "Out-of-Stock We're sorry; this product (N90AD) is currently unavailable." So.. any idea where I can find one of those angled plugs elsewhere? PS: Yes, Saskia, I already broke mine, and yes I know you warned me, and yes, I should've listened ;). "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... 6. It is the most awesome boogie I have been to so far, super cheap jumps, great vibe and great organizers. I can only comment on the FF part of it, as I didn't go along on any belly jumps, but the FF organizing was really nice :). So far they already confirmed Mike Wittenburg, Ellis and Kai Kai from the Dubai crew for this year, I think it's gonna be a nice one again. You can just put your tent down on the dz (for free!) and they have enough toilets and showers on site, I never had to wait. They had a big party going on every single night, so if you really want your beauty sleep you might want to reconsiders sleeping at dz, but theres enough hotels in cities nearby I think. In the cities nearby you can also go out to restaurants as they do have nice food at the dz, but restaurants over there can be really cheap and pretty good. During the day they also sell sandwiches and stuff at the dz bar. The jumping was nice, although last year some days I did have to wait quite a while to get on a load, but I think this year they're flying in some more planes. You can check out the fb event for more updates here: http://www.facebook.com/events/521568787873769/, and you can find last years dayvideos here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_gHCWyQAss http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WM2dYLprWc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmwjlIlzWb0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RworMW1_M-M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8kvdKfioLg "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... 8. If you follow the 2-way in the video you can see them in frame on the rights side for quite a while, so as far as I can see the two (!!!) skydivers below him are not the ones from the 2-way you see at the beginning. 9. About the canopy size I just wanted to mentioned that, apart from the scales not being linear*, you should also add any extra weight you'll be wearing into the equation. Have your canopies (not just the main, also the reserve) sized for the 'worst case scenario', for example, the days where you jump with the heavy guys and take a bit of (extra) lead along. I weigh 120 lbs myself, and downsized to a 150 at 90 jumps, and to a 135 at about 150 jumps. I never really got to know all about the 150, and looking back I might have downsized to the 135 a little too soon. I never wear any lead, but I can tell you, a 135 is a sporty canopy, and definitely not much forgiving, even at a very low wingloading! Renting a 150 while you have a 135 laying around might make you downsize (way) too soon, especially if the 150 is a 'tight fit' in your javelin. My advice would be to buy a 150 or a 170, and maybe even sell the 135 if you need the money. You can almost always sell a canopy again without losing as much money on it as renting one would have cost you (sometimes you can even make a little profit!), and there will always be a nice 135 for sale when you're ready for it. Having it laying might just trick you into making the wrong decisions. I am no instructor, nor am I very experienced, I just know what it's like to load a relatively smaller canopy lightly, so take my advice for what it's worth. Before you make any kind of decisions, discuss it with your instructors, they can give you the most adequate advise. * For example, a 135 with a wingloading of 1:1 will fly more aggressive than a 190 with the same wingload. If you don't know why that is, you should ask your instructors. "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump

  11. Thanks for the replies! I guess I´d want a wideangle cause I like to get pretty close. I also don´t wanna have to worry too much about framing for now, I use a GP2 on wide normally for video, and I actually like the wideangle a lot. The 10.5mm fisheye leaves me with no option to give me a smaller angle when I want it (also, it's almost impossible to find one second hand at a reasonable price), that's why I'm quite interested in the 10-20. I guess I'll just try some different ones once I have a good setup for it. I think my dad sold his 10.5mm a while ago (because he's now jumping his D800), but I can still try his 16mm and Saskia's 10-20mm. Oh how I (most of the time) love the fact that I have these photo-geeks at my dz ready to let me try/buy their stuff, thanks guys :D. "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... 12. Hmmn, that doesn't even sound like too bad a lens. Is it the f/3.5 or the f/4-5.6? Why don't you like/use yours? "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump
  13. Well, I know I would have to set the aperture and focus manually, but would I also not be able to use the aperture-priority-mode anymore with the zenitar? I don't regret selling the D300, I wasn't gonna jump that one anyway, I like my neck the way it is, not broken and such :P. I like the sigma 15mm but I just hate the fact that the price of a new one has gone up more than 100 euros since two years ago, and the nikon is even more expensive than that. I don't think I'd really need the autofocus on that one, I'd need to get really close to not have everything in focus on 'infinity', right? "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump
  14. So, I sold my Nikon D300 and bought a nice and lightweight D3100, cause the D300 is just too heavy for me to even think about jumping it. Now the next step for getting myself a nice camera to jump with is finding the right lens for the job. I know that there are some really good ones and also some really cheap ones out there, but I can't afford the really expensive ones and don't want a crappy ass lens either. So my question is, how bad is the zenitar 16mm fisheye for skydiving? And is there anything in between that one and the Nikon 16mm fisheye price- and qualitywise? Any other lenses I should seriously consider? "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump
  15. Okay, Pops and I want to know, what were these circumstances? Was it just a total malfunction or something crazy? I've jumped with and without AAD's, with and without RSL's. I prefer to have both.
  16. Holy crap, I feel like such an addict now. But at least it explains how I can do 175 jumps a year while still studying and having no fulltime job. I think I on average spend about half my money on skydiving.. If travel and accommodation at boogies and such count along maybe a little more than half... Ahh well, who needs a drivers license anyway, or a place to live big enough to own both a bed and a couch . "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... 18. I tried to send a reply to an ad and it gives me: "Error Oops, we had the following problem: Invalid email address... 19. i have to disagree, thats the funny thing about skydiving, you can get hurt on either side Yes, you can get hurt either way, but like I said, you won't get hurt from staying on the conservative side. I've never heard of an incident that would be prevented had the jumper been less conservative. "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump
  20. In Holland they're not only DZ rules, but they're national rules. These rules are the 'do not exceed'-limit, that means you might not be ready to be on the edge of what's allowed. Don't be an idiot, staying on the conservative side can never hurt you. http://parachute.nl/fileadmin/knvvlpa_upload/pdf/BVR_bijlage_B_versie_2011-07_juli.pdf It basically comes down to: I : wingload max 1,1; at least 170 sqft, can jump a student canopy II : >25 jumps total, >10 last 12 months: wingload max 1,1; at least 170 sqft, can jump a Pilot III : >100 jumps total, >25 last 12 months: wingload max 1,3; at least 150 sqft, can jump a Sabre2 IV : >400 jumps total, >50 last 12 months: wingload max 1,5; at least 135 sqft, can jump a Stiletto V : >700 jumps total, >100 last 12 months: wingload max 1,7, at least 120 sqft, can jump a Katana VI : >1000 jumps total, no restrictions If a canopy is not listed, it's automatically classified as catVI. 21. Since I only got one useful reply in the gear-section, let me ask this here as well: Well long story short, I only got the chance to do one demojump on a the PA Fusion I might be buying, and because of high winds and too short steeringlines I wasn't really capable of trying out everything I wanted to. So, I read a lot about openings and flare, and as far as the flare I can confirm, it's nice. On opening I had a togglefire, so couldn't really judge if the opening is any good :P, but all I read is that it's comparable if not better than a sabre2 on openings, and I'm happy with the openings on my sabre2 135. So the only thing that's still keeping me from buying this canopy is the fact that I'm a tiny girl with no muscles at all, and if the frontriserpressure on a fusion is higher than on a sabre2, I probably won't be able to use those frontrisers. So basically my question to you is: How is the frontriserpressure on a Fusion compared to that on a Sabre2? It would be a 120, which would bring my wingload to an astonishing 1.2. 22. Oh fuck you, we both know me working out is never gonna happen, I just don't have the time (read: I'm just too damn lazy). The fusion is Saskia's, but it's in my rig at the moment. It needs to have the steeringlines lengthened, If you get bored during the week, it's laying open in the hangar "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... 23. Thanks for the video!! awesome video haha... man I was smiling the whole time. Looks like it was a fun Season for you! What DZ is this? Most of it is at Teuge, the Netherlands, some of it was during the (awesome!) Flanders Boogie at Moorsele, Belgium. 24. Thanks! That's good to know. Anyone else with any experience comparing the two? Maybe on smaller sizes as well? "So I jump out, look up, and think 'Oh SHIT!... It's PINK!!!'" - army guy after his first staticline jump
