  1. Hey man! I'm new to the sport too. I live in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. What's your DZ?
  2. Hi Ron! I've just started this sport, and I have to say.. WOW! I wish I hadn't started too late in the year, because now I can't go. (Too cold in Chicago.) But have fun with it! Congratulations on the weight loss though! It's incredible what a goal/ something to look forward to can do! Keep with it!
  3. I think I saw this once. We got really in depth into adrenaline in my anthropology class. Really interesting stuff. I just hope I can gain control of it so I can start jumping on my own! Haha.
  4. Haha, well don't I feel like such a rookie now. Thanks!!
  5. After one jump, I'm hooked. I already know it. I'm going again before season's end, start my courses next year. I figured this would happen. And I think I'm able to say something that not alot of people can say: I'm addicted!!! AND PROUD OF IT! It's all that's been running through my head. I've been going through my next jump in my head so I can get it down. One more thing, how do I overcome the ear thing? Falling at 13500 feet kind of has an effect on your ears, and in my case, a pretty painful one. Does that cease over time? Thanks all!
  6. That was unbelievable! I've never felt such a feeling! I'm so glad I chose to do this! I never knew that human's could feel such an amazing feeling. As soon as I hit the ground, I wanted to do it again, and again, and again. I plan on doing it again soon. Wow. But I feel kind of embarrassed. For some reason, while I was in free fall, I couldn't move. I was having trouble doing the practice touches. My instructor had to force my hand back there. I didn't have a problem with composure so much, I was watching my altimeter and went for the ripcord at 5500, I couldn't find it. I don't know. Any ideas? Also, I was having just a little bit of trouble breathing. It took me a few seconds to get that first breathe through. Any Ideas to help me out next time? This was amazing. Props to Mike at Skydive Chicago! Thanks dude!
  7. Well, I have to say that comforted me alot! Haha. It's good to know that I'm jumping with some reliable people. Thanks for all your help!
  8. I heard that the accident rate there is twice as much as the rest of the country. But I just think that there's more jump traffic there, you're inevitable to have more accidents. I think they're reputable and I've heard really good things about their staff, so it will probably be where I go.
  9. Well, I was looking at Skydive Chicago, but I haven't been hearing too good of things about them lately. But then again, you have to take everything with a pinch/ grain of salt. So I'll probably go there.
  10. Ohhhhh, I think I've gotta good feeling about this.
  11. Hi! My name is Adam and I just graduated. Fresh out of the school system, I've realized that these next few years are the window of opportunity. I've got my goals laid out and this is one of them. I really want to become a skydiver. The sport excites me and really appeals to me. I just want some information before I take that leap. First: what got you into the sport? What made you come back again? Second: I don't know why, but this is my biggest concern. How do you land? Does the parachute just slow you down enough? I know! I feel like such a new guy. Haha. Third: What's the craziest thing you've done skydiving? I've seen people do all kinds of formations and things like "stuff jumps" and wingsuit flying." What's your experience? Fourth: Any advice? It'd be much appreciated! I look to take my first jump in March (I'd go tomorrow if I could, but I gotta get some cash!) Thanks everyone!
