I just watced that interview with him. And the reason he's not going to raise spending is because you're already meeting your obligations. And he had a lot of nice things to say about Trump and his leadership. And he supported his meeting with Putin coming up! Got you got to hate that don't you?

Well, it's nice that you decided to believe Trudeau's spin. Maybe Trump will too. Canada seems to have a leader who understands diplomacy.

Canada does not spend 2% of his GDP on military. Nor should it.

Why not? I don't mean that as an attack, I'm just curious.

There is no public support in Canada for more military spending. Every new weapons system is debated endlessly. Current spending is 1.23% of GDP and regardless of promises to increase it to 2%. Its not likely to happen. Canadians will have a free national drug program long before defense spending is 2% of GDP.

Canadians support peacekeeping and NATO operations like the current deployments to Latvia. Canada has additional training and support operations to Ukraine. Which is also supported.

The conservative party(like republicans)of the last government could not write the check for a new F-35 purchase. So the current liberal (like dems) Trudeau government bought the castoff F-18's of the Australian air force.

Part of that calculation was Boeing's trade dispute filing on the CS300 jet built by Bombardier.

I'm still trying to figure out why we are. If the other NATO members don't want to, fine. But why sould the US, which arguably has the least to gain from NATO, keep paying the full 2%?

It doesn't, the US spends about 3.5% of GDP on defense.

We're still fighting an enemy that dissolved nearly thirty years ago.

It may be hard for me to keep my mouth shut when I'm screaming lol Is it really that easy to keep your mouth shut when it's your first time?

How difficult is it to take them out for the jump? Or is it a problem? I can see how it might be, but I'm lucky enough to not need them so I don't know. At least not yet.

And how many people will boycott all of the other Texas DZs, thinking they are the same one?

Yep. On the internet nobody knows when you're talking out of your ass. We've created the ultimate "punish them all!!" machine.

So, point by point what do you mean? I realize that is too much work. Hell it's too much work for me as well. So, pick one thing you disagree with. One point.

I don't buy rap or hip hop. I avoid hearing it if I can, I'm just not into it, but does that mean I shouldn't be indignant when one person may lose her job because someone heard her singing along to one? Because she enjoyed the song. Or in another case when a singer invited a young woman up onto stage to sing along then stops, on cue when she gets to "that word" and the has the entire audience turn on her?
Is it important to me, maybe not. But that doesn't mean it isn't very bad. And I don't understand how you couldn't see that. Or that the underlying point is to stir up hatred.
As far as the Starbuck's thing if you really interpret the situation the way you say I don't even know where to start. "sees a need" Are you under the impression that this started when the CEO of Starbucks said "hey, you know what, we're gonna let anyone come in and pee."? Which would be fine and it would be strange if I was upset about that but it's about as far from reality as you can get. One ignorant employee out of 179,000, an ex-employee at that, did something wrong and stupid and Starbucks is now being labeled a racist business.
    You don't think that's problematic?
We've created a system where anyone, anywhere at anytime can basically shout fire in a crowded theater. And people are.

***I think social media has given us as consumers so much power that it's getting weird. If someone posts about the founder of a pizza company using a word that he'd declared not allowed to use then the victims' outrage can shut the place down, so off with his head. If one ignorant employee mistreats a couple of customers than an entire coffee chain has to shut its doors for "retraining." and become a public restroom provider.
Black self-appointed leaders proclaim that white people can listen to their music and buy their music, in fact they're kind of hoping they do, but if the catch you singing along the music stops and the outrage starts because "I can say that word but you can't neener neener neener."
So now white people know they can't say that word but is the fact that so many who normally wouldn't are now thinking it part of the plan? After all, if your entire thing is being a victim then what happens if the hatred dies down.
And whoever told the Democrats that being smug and calling anyone who disagrees with you ignorant was a key to success must have been a well placed Republican troll.

Ya, poor white people. They are so downtrodden. What a pile of.....you know, but I shouldn't say the word. The times are still a 'changin it seems.

Social media is just a part of the communication revolution that is changing the world. It takes information and organization out of the hands of the established powers and re-distributes it to everyone. That is why governments like China's work so hard to keep a lid on it.

Black "self appointed leaders"? WTF are you talking about? Everyone is a leader if they choose to lead. Everyone is a follower if they choose to follow. Why are you so resentful? No one makes you buy anyone's music. You have a choice and so does everyone else. If the leader of Starbucks sees a need to open their bathrooms to the public why do you object? Starbucks will either thrive or not. They are a private company and they decide on their best policies to their own advantage.

Consumers have the power because they spend the money. Social media is making a difference. It is opening up the curtains and shining the blinding light on previously dark corners of society. It is an extension of fifth estate. You are using it right now.

I admire your agility. I could never be limber enough to get my head far enough my own rear end to believe the things you seem to believe.

******Newest bad news: The portion of the cave they are trapped in is running out of oxygen.

If they do come up with a system for getting them out one at a time I wonder if they'll even bother bringing out the coach. He'll have a short life in there, but maybe a longer one than if the parents get their hands on him.

Where are you getting the idea that the coach is being blamed by anyone (parents, authorities, ect). I haven't seen that anywhere.

You definitely called this one correctly. I'd have never believed this sort of attitude still existed in the world. Almost gives you hope, doesn't it?

What amazes me is how a smug asshole like Trump can become President because his opponents are even worse smug assholes.
This Country desperately needs a third party. If we don't get a successful challenger to the Democrat and Republican lock out of the last election then nothing will ever do it.

we currently have the best president that we've ever had in your and my lifetime.

I just can't get behind that. I don't disagree with everything he does simply because he's doing it, but I think the only reason he's president is because of the bizarre crap the DNC pulled to run the only person in the world he could beat.
We've been smiling at people while they piss on us for far too long and he knows that. So he's going to get a few right, at least I hope, but unless he pulls some real surprises I don't think I'll ever see him as being qualified to be President, let alone best. On the other hand, at the rate the DNC is going it looks like he might have an extra four years to practice, so who knows?
I still still think a used car salesman from Ashland Kentucky who just got off parole for setting back odometers could have beat either of them. I just hope I live long enough to read an accurate book about what really happened to put HRC up as candidate.

I guess you were right Bob. Getting out ahead works! Motorboat rides are legal if you don't do them in the same OH club regularly. Or something like that.

Finding logic in a law that tries to control what consenting adults do inside a strip club is a futile quest, imo. If you're going to allow strip clubs then the only laws I can think of is "no minors" and "keep it inside".

  12. I can't figure out what bad thing will happen to the US if NATO folds. This seems to be the ultimate case of once the government starts a program they never let it go.
It was incredibly valuable when it was doing its sole mission, containing the Soviet Union. But it worked, it's done. Thanks to NATO and other assets the Soviet Union dissolved nearly thirty years ago and is no longer a threat to the US.

  13. Mastermind is at great game for two. If the original five colors gets too easy you can add things like popcorn and dry beans. Rumicube is another good game for two and in this case it's two playing against each other. Mastermind is more one playing and the other overseeing then swap.

Disregarding Clifford's account while taking the cops' accounts at face value is ridiculously biased. Both are "but we were there" accounts.

I particularly like the part were they accuse her of "forcing herself" upon them! That Stormy, so aggressive. That's probably how Trump got in trouble with that "bad girl".

And how long did they spend "gathering evidence" before they told her to stop? "I'll give you twenty minutes to stop what you're doing immediately!"

First ever charges under that law. Three undercover cops just happened to be policing her act. Three misdemeanor charges. Can you spell h-a-r-a-s-s-m-e-n-t? Getting out ahead? Why bother. She just scored several million more dollars of free publicity for her nationwide stripper show. No doubt she is extremely worried about the small fine she will face.

Personally I have a hard time worrying about what goes on in a strip club filled with adults, but I thought the differences in the articles were interesting. It does seem like a textbook case of "getting out ahead of something" and why a lawyer on speed dial can be a good investment.

  16. On NYPD Blue they always talked about "getting out ahead of this." What they really meant was confess so we can all go home but there are times when this actually works.

    Compare and contrast.

***Does anyone here know what actually happened to the diver who died? Did it just take much longer to exit the flooded parts than he'd expected? Or gear trouble?

Nothing official, and unless an autopsy can show a medical reason anything else will be speculation. If he was wearing a dive computer there may be some data there that can clear it up from 'totally black' to 'heavily murky.'

Thanks, I was wondering if they'd announced anything and I'd just missed it.

  19. ">Let's not forget the inevitable "why did we run stories about it constantly?"

Simple answer - because people read them. Look at the attention this thread has gotten. "

Yes, we know. That's my point. Now they're going to explain this to us, like we're too stupid to already know. Anything to fill those annoying gaps between commercials.
