  1. Popsjumper, I get your point and it makes sense. Maybe I'm just too old and too conservative for these fast methods. Thanks for eyeopener.
  2. Bing, the dog of war who parachuted into France to become a D-Day hero http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2131034/Bing-World-War-Two-parachuting-dog.html
  3. Personally, I wouldn't like to be anywhere near a person that obtained A-license in just one week. I really wonder how do you combine jumping and learning a theoretical part of examination + folding a chute? And everything in one week? I'd really like to see it with my eyes. Especially to access the "proficiency" level of such person after he obtained his license. Entire story sounds like "become a tandem master in 500 jumps". Well, wish you a lot of success with that, but please dont manifest the same load with me.
  4. keep looking @ the plane (door), don't loose the plane from the site until you're under the canopy.
  5. I fell in love the moment she fell from the plane edit. i know htc sucks big time and i know this video sets a bad example for potential tandem jumpers. but still - this is such a masterpiece of art!
  6. ty Coreece, Norman Kent to the team: "This is just like skydiving in the weekend. Please just relax". imho this guy is a true artist & skydiver. Great!
  7. Hi Guys, I just saw this commercial and I'm amazed of how good it has been made. Does someone know the skydivers or DZ involved in making of this video? is this real? Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4lRxyHGTwM
  8. Dude 2 miles off would indicate, BAD GPS use and Lemming exits, neither indicate good training from either the jumpers or the pilot Dude, I jumped because I know that even a 10Km off landing would provide a fare landing area. Weather conditions overhere are so bad that we have regulary to wait weeks to get a chance to jump even through the clouds. That's the skydiving overhere. I won't comment on GPS thing since I don't know what exactly went wrong. Since this kind of things are done regularly (jumping through/from the clouds) one time it can and will go wrong...simply because nothing beats a physical DZ view and spotting.
  9. about 6 months ago we were dropped from 9000ft. Cloud base was around 4000ft and cloud top was above our exit level. We were within the cloud during the exit. I was under the canopy @ around 3000ft. Upon opening I realized we were dropped some 3km (1.8mi) far from the desired exit point. Since there was almost no wind even with fast sqare chutes we were not able to get back (not a one of 8 ppl). Non of us jumped with a mobile phone. Fortunately a huge area around our DZ is one BIG landing zone We have very good pilots & ground crew and very good equipment (including GPS) and we are very well trained but s* can happend no matter what and jumping through cloud cover remains a risk.
  10. You're getting it wrong Noddy. They want to say that some people are skydiving because they're obese. If you want to eat less skydive more.
  11. Can someone explain or post a link which explains how this 3 chutes system actually works? I used to jump with belly reserve, but that one was not possible to be cut-off. So I wonder if you have a classic sport rig with main and (non-cuttable) reserve in which way can you cut that (1st) reserve prior the deployment of the 2nd reserve, except with a knife? p.s. sorry if this is a bit off topic question.
  12. why didn't you provide an option "I don't use MARD" as an possible answer to this question? Edit: and you can place your opinion about my opinion whereever you want.
  13. Hereby my answer: I DON'T HAVE MARD AND I DON'T WANT IT. I think student's rigs should be kept clean from MARD/alike things.
  14. I recommend Haha Edit.
  15. We used to have the minimum set at 500. We had a fair number of incidents involving new TMs. We changed the minimum to 1000 jumps. We now have very few incidents involving new TMs. ty Dragon.
  16. here are some of the requirements for becoming a TM in the Netherlands: 1. at least 1000 free fall jumps 2. at least 3 years in sport 3. at least 1 EP 4. after obtaining TM-rating: at least 75 free fall jumps (including at least 35 tandem jumps) per year. I'd like to hear a reason for setting the minimum number of jumps to 1000 instead to USPA's 500.
  17. Shropshire, PC does not nessecerely colapse, if it's not a retractable pc there could be enough wind speed to create a drag. In my case, PC was fully loaded and had enough drag to create a V-shape in the middle of the nose of a canopy.
  18. i had this one on my student jump once. PC was not spring loaded. The canopy was about 220 sqft large and I‚m quite light-weighted. I was reading about this mal before and I could recall everything I knew during that jump. Than I did a usual controllability check and everything went fine and I landed the thing. What I've also heard is when this happens to smaller canopies it can significantly influence the controllability of the canopy and cut-away is the best, and most probably the only option.
  19. I thought it was a bridle with those sunglasses he could have not spot a sh* anyway. there is someone behind him holding his rig and helping him out? edit: ohh, I see it now, the guy tried to hold him back
  20. The guy has just revealed his true identity on Dutch national TV. He said he spent more then 8 months creating this hoax. He's profession is... Movie-maker. P.s. Honey cancel all meetings for the comming year I'm gonna create a hoax.
  21. IMHO his site was made to generate traffic and provide him some profit out of this hoax. Dutch state media reported the guy disappeared after publishing this video. There were several hoaxes previously published in the Netherlands, but all of them turn to be a product of marketing & video editing skills and indeed no-brains, no-engineering at all. Windsurfing is very popular sport overhere and this “device” looks to me like modified windsurfing sail.
  22. why wouldn't you put your hands through the toggles all the way to the wrist so the chance of dropping the toggle are significantly reduced? I don't say I'm doing it, but I've heard from some ppl always use toggles in this way.
  23. drunken skwrl :) thank you for posting! I didn't read all 'lessons learned' from your video. It was just a first thing popped into my mind after seeing this vid and your comment on learning how to fly a wingsuit. Edit: at least there is one positive thing about that camera gear: the f* up is saved to be learned from. Next time a new skydivers underestimate the evil powers of cams we can point to this one
