  2. i really like your post donohue, but don´t you have some editing to do?? hahaha You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  3. i´ll keep thumbs pressed for you my friends, may the weather god be with you! i can´t believe i am missing the fun but sometimes you gotta make some bucks.... well iFly singapur will hopefully help me getting over it haha! keep results and pictures coming!
  4. Thanks everybody for the jumps in sebastian last week! http://vimeo.com/39185754
  5. If you ask Scott Callantine to judge your skills during FnD his opinion will be heard by the head organizers of the Bigway in Perris. Only they can send out invites for the record if the qualification requirements on the website are met: http://wingsuitworldrecord.com/node/38 For all questions regarding the Bigway i suggest getting in touch with them directly through the Website, since most Skydivers don´t really follow Dropzone.com. that aside, enjoy flock and dock, i wish i could be there this year. Great lineup of organizers and a lot of friends getting together...
  6. and on top he is one of the best wingsuit coaches out there. for shure a good idea to get in touch with him!
  7. for what its worth, here in eloy there is a skydiver right now who lost his legs and he freeflys and swoops like most of the skydivers with no disabilities only wish they could. i have seen handicaped people do amazing things in all kind of sports and extrem sports. every individual chooses his limitations himself to a certain degree. people are often capable of way more than they think. you thought your eyes would stop you from becoming a pilot, but the cockpits of all the major airlines are full of people that use technology (lenses and glasses) to compensate for their handicap of not having normal vision. sometimes we just see limits where there are none... 8. as much fun as it is to be super kryptic about tailstrikes and stuff or answering questions with questions...sometimes it can be entertaining too to just look at the beauty of our sport, to watch what some of the best wingsuiters make possible out there in the real world. just amazing.... http://raisethesky.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Jeff-IMG_22841.jpg http://raisethesky.org/2012/02/project-xrw-dubai-3d/ You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  9. aaah i understand, thats why you don´t wear a helmet while wingsuiting in groups in your videos, to inspire the youtube generation...
  10. justin now is officially part of WE! You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  11. your were asked what point you are trying to make. WE were wondering what point that could be. WE is for the group of wingsuiters that was just having a skype conversation when scott showed us you brought this here up: WE is obviously also simon for example or did you have the impression he was getting your point? so again, without arguing, without what the fuck....what is the point of or WE might have all missunderstood your point. please help us to understand you correctly. You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  12. that is exactly the point. you could also claim that nick is jumping without underwear, since it can´t be seen it´s hard to prove you are wrong. (as well as you can´t really prove it) i wrote nick a mail asking if his escape sleeve works or not. lets see what he says. he is the only one who knows, the video doesn´t tell much if your are honest, thats why we don´t understand why you picked this one to claim the escape sleeve doesn´t work. You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  13. we are all wondering what point you are trying to make here spott. the right arm? the one that reaches up to the brakes at 0:15 of the video? please explain... You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  14. sounds like they were unable to aquire a signal as long as they were not outside under clear sky.normally its not a problem to aquire a signal in a plane.of course there are different qualitys in gps. while my cheap garmin car gps never gets a signal in any building my better (and more expensive) one which is used for climbing and hiking in mountains easily picks up a signal in my house. thats why i am thinking (and its just a guess) that there are maybe more reliable gps out there for the job. they might have worked on previous events, but they , lets put it this way, were obviously at least "involved" in this disaster. so where are you at right now with the troubleshooting? whats your guess what happened? final results and ranking coming up soon on the ppc webpage? You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  15. Yes let´s take this opportunity and figure out what could help preventing this major problems on further events. I checked the RAIM Status Reports (forecasts and actualls) for that day that our airline uses and there was no issues with the sattelites reported. so the problems must have been somewhere else. on most of the competitions i have competed in wintec gps were used and we experienced barely any problems. maybe its flysight related? @lurch: sorry i said jarno was third in speed. i was just reminded that you were but i got confused with the unsorted data here on the ppc website. http://www.paralog.net/ppc/showevent_compact.php?event=U.S.%20Performance%20Cup%202011 i guess the organizers are working on it to present the results any minute. You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  16. only a true champion would admit that simon! applaus!! still, your win was well deserved!! You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  17. in fairness to the organizers and i have a lot of respect for that, the people that didn´t get a single score recorded got their registration money back as omnia told me. well i think that is a great gesture! still i understand what you are saying.... You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  18. they should be up soon i am shure the organizers are already working on it. you always see the final scores and ranking on the ppc website for the individual events and also the results end up being presented in the worlwide ranking for each disciplin. pretty cool, you can see all the data of the jumps in numbers and graphs, as well as the suits used for it. here are just the scores so far recorded but in randomly order http://www.paralog.net/ppc/showevent_compact.php?event=U.S.%20Performance%20Cup%202011 what i can tell you is that in open class simon repton from wickedwingsuits won the event followed by scott callantine both in their s-birds. robert pecnik in his vampire 4 became third and dave barlia in his apache fourth. speed in open class was won by scott callantine from seattle in his s-bird followed by tony uragallo wearing an apache and third was jarno cordia in his havok. in intermediate class (speed) cate heneghan dominated in her phantom2. and joel hindman flew furthest in intermediate class in his phantom, 2568m! awesome flying guys, i had a lot of fun just hanging out in elsinore this weekend. You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  19. seems what your flysights are doing to your sleep is my jetlag doing over here.still stuck in japanese time.... so actual scientific facts is what you are using now...you have mentioned glide ratio is independent of weight (as well as lift producing area and wing loading) . now with that being said, what is the scientific reason in your opinion that people stay up in the air when they do time? and how is weight now making a huge difference? and just using basic formulars at what weight differences does it start to get unfair? 2 kilos difference? 20 kilos? where is the line that the heavier guy can beat the lighter guy in distance but can´t do it in time? i am really interessted in your answer here, cause you can show us the difference between "scientific facts" that are used correctly, describing an actual process, like flying..... and just throwing in some physic terms that are only half way understood. you went to the field of actual scientific facts, now please explain the laws that describe why time is more unfair than distance and speed, but do it properly. so my friends alexey (first) and paul (third) are "heavy folks" thats funny, don´t let them know please make an educated guess...how much heavier are they compared to tony, harry kloska or myself? so you are saying these guys couldn´t do good in time cause they are heavy folks? come on say it, we won´t tell them and if thats not the point you wanted to make with the hungarian comp example......what actually was the point then? You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  20. but maybe show us tomorrow...its always a good thing to get at least a little bit of sleep before competing take care and cu tomorrow You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
  21. Looking at the statement it IS your opinion not a fact. i agree that speed allows a really fat person to get a good result cause an outstanding glide ratio is not really needed there. only a good distance over time ratio (no matter how big the distance covered is) distance is a different thing as you should know. havn´t you noticed that its more or less the same names scoring good distances AND times? where are the "sensitive to gravity" ones (i am shure this is a very politically correct term
  22. thanks for proving my point. as i said, every disciplin needs a certain skill, a good timing, the right tecnique, the right equipment. it can´t be said one disciplin is way easier than the other. that is a well known fact and that was my whole point in previous posts. whoever says one disciplin (of the three well established ones) is supereasy and takes barely any talent....well, pick a gps tomorrow and enter the top ten. shouldn´t be a problem right? that is what makes these event so much fun. good results are not accidently happening. the fact that we see good and well respected flyers like robbie and tony archiving good results is not pure coincidence. it´s all their experience that comes into play. if that wouldn´t be the case, why would we do this competitions? you got confused with diving and fall rate. the FALL RATE on a good speed dive is similar to the FALL RATE of an aff student, but an aff student DIVING at a glide ratio of 1.5? .... i would be impressed if you could show me this happening somewhere. You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"
