    Big suits

its exhausting because it pressurizes so hard that going from laying in the suit to 'popping,' bringing your arms to your side or trying to touch your heals should be a new work out. its more exhausting to do what you want with a more rigid wing, laying in it is a different story.

    Big suits

ridiculous. the venom is the strongest pressurized suit ive flown...exhausting to fly from 13k. my v4 has more arm pressure than my apache. and what 111 said

    Big suits

ive owned a p2 v4 venom and apache x, in that order. i have flown everything else, rebel, x2, alien suits, etc etc. if you're looking for a big suit dont waste your time with venom or x's...(x3 is an exception for obvious reasons) go straight for the apache. super easy suit to fly, never missed a pull or grabbed a handful of suit and range like you wouldnt believe. fly it with trackers or leave everyone behind. my buddy went from a p2 to apache with no issue...i took a bit more conservative route (first sentence) and never had an issue either. the venom is long gone, tho i could never sell my v4. in short, jump everything you can get your hands on before you decide for yourself
  4. Depends on what you want out of the suit. In my experience with swapping back and forth with my buddy is the p2 is faster and much more nimble while the r bird is much more floaty and not so nimble...I prefer the p2. And dirtbox I wouldn't say the r bird flies with v4's, x birds etc more like they are flocking with the smaller suits...equal pilots those suits are gonna be long gone

  7. i purchased the contour mount for my helmet, got it in 3 days. drilled 2 holes and boom this sucker is shootin video! with the helmet on my head and the camera on the mount, i got into an arch and had a buddy find where to drill the holes. the lasers on the contour that tell you where the camera is aiming make it too easy. havnt needed to adjust it after the initial mount. (had to shrink the photo a bunch to get down to 300kb)
  8. i just put in 4 jumps and 30 minutes in the tunnel with my new revolve and i didn't even notice it was there! no fogging...ever (so far.) extremely light, great quality, fits perfect, and the face shield flip up is a one finger job. i also liked wearing earplugs with the provided/student helmets but always hated em once under canopy...this helmet cuts wind noise considerably so no more plugs for me! i dont have much experience with SDing helmets but from experiencing average motorcycle helmets and top quality ones, i know what a 'run of the mil' helmet can do to your head at speed, and this helmet is like a knife through butter in the air. good job bonehead!
  9. i ordered a boneheads latest full face, the revolve. i havnt flown it yet, but i like what i read about it. 3 reviews here http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/738.html home page http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/m8/302--the-revolve-helmet.html there's a fellow on here who was 'beta' testing one. im sure wouldnt be hard to find.
  10. really awesome man! i'm watchin it for my third time in 2 days! whats the injury report on those gnarly swoop incidents? oh yeah...is there a live download link>?
  11. ahhhhahahaa...i've watched it like 5 times since last night!
  12. I think it's funny when people think that there is big big money in packing in the first place.... I mean, get real. gotta justify it somehow dont ya "nahh baby i promise theres a minimum of 12 jumps a day at lodi.....you know how many parachutes that is!?" HA!
  13. thanks again for all the new input! and no worries teb...i understand my spot in the skydiving world at this point in time. dangerous sports require extreme attention to detail...racing is no different. you ever crash at 120mph because your tire pressure that cold morning dropped 5psi...and you forgot to check it. the little stuff means everything at the limit and gear checks is something that is engraved me now...thanks for tryin hard for that last positive too such a shame that happens at the dz. thieves would show up at the track once or twice a season...but its such a great community. if that happened, we'd usually pass around a box during the riders meeting and you'd get a couple hundred people donating $20 bucks to help out a fellow racer. i already live in a total tweaker town (eureka ca.) i will never lock my car and i never leave anything i give a shit about in it anymore. earlier this year i had a $2200 rifle stolen out of my car when i was buyin ammo in town to go shoot! broke the window and didnt even open the door to set off the alarm. if i leave my car with something in it...the dog stays in the car too. have fun stealing her! i still have a terrible hate for thieves...so maybe ill get bored and set up a sting at nights...oh i'd love to catch me a thievin tweak...if its a fellow jumper i'd probably take their picture and send it to all the drop zones!!! and no they wouldnt be getting away THAT easy either as far as getting jobs and people "taking" jobs...im not too concerned at the moment...sure i love skydiving, and i'd love a job involving something im actually passionate about, but i also know what happens when something becomes a job! teb, im glad you mentioned injuries too. not many like to hear or accept that part of this sport (racing too,) but i realise i definitely need insurance!!! i've been thinking about it awhile but havnt really been calling around...so if anyone has suggestions on insurance companies, im all ears! not lookin for check up bullsh*t...just something that will cover broken bones if such a thing happens. skyrider, great news! skycamefalling, much thanks and i hear ya on the weather...on the rainy days i can always head back to san jose for my bed, but i'll sit out the rainy days too. i dropped my rig off when it was raining and i ended up choppin it up with bill and some jumpers for some time! ik ived talked about it so much...its because i miss it way more! but here is me at my best...competitive racing is something thats in my past though...time to move forward (picture attached)
  14. we must just use difference signals.....i mean, he was australian in l6 he gave me check alti, track that way, do a 360, check legs, alti, dock, alti, come here, track that way, and then pull at 5. the jump plan was always pull at 5 and the 2 dytters were set to go off at 6k....so for my last 5-6 seconds im well aware of what i need to do :) thanks for the advice and kind words. i do already own a rig. its waiting for a reserve repack, new aad and main inspect. i might not be doing things the most conventional way, or by the book, but im going to show up and do what bill says is okay for me to do! he wont let me do anything i shouldnt be. and paying for coaching jumps shouldnt be an issue, just means i can only afford a 50 pack that month.
  15. its free when you're jumping right? anyway, i've got the $$$ stashed to be able to pursure a new venture in life and i hate my job even though its good money. ive got nothing keeping me where i am other than that false sense of security a roof and deadbolt can give you . im 23 and i want nothing more than to just to let go of everything and experience freedom...and ive already got the ball rolling. a couple years ago it was living out of a mobile home racing motorcycles...but that drains money wayyyyyyy to fast and extremely hard to make a career without being close to the right people, even if you are fast. i experienced skydiving earlier this year and did my aff very soon after and i saw that people get along the same way racers do, soldiers do, or any death defying community...and i love that kind of connection. i gave my landlord my 1 month notice...im outta here the end of the month. im going to move what little im keeping into my fathers house in san jose. get a few good last meals in, a couple extra nights of awesome sleep on my tempurpedic bed, and then live out of my car for as long as i possibly can! it looks like i can afford 50-100 jumps (if theres that many loads in the winter) a month for a few months...i'm hoping to become a familiar face at the dropzone and hopefully prove to bill im worthy of a job when the weather gets a lot nicer. thats a wishful goal, but what my main purpose of this little journey is to suit up in a wingsuit! just 191 to go ive already met a few of you lodi jumpers on this website, and looking forward to meeting everyone...so if you're making some jumps in lodi around jan feb and march, id be more than happy to jump with you! tho you'd probably be doing me more of a favor, haha. heres my last 2 jumps i made in septemeber...damn its been way too long! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7loRbVUSUBw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZbKugZpUk4
  16. welp i gave the guy with the prestige/falcon215 a call this morning and ended up sending him the money. i should have it at a rigger early next week. i hope all is good with it....im ready to jump out of an airplane!
  17. haha, good lookin out falling! with the money i save i could get my b license and lots of tunnel time!
  18. good lookin out guys, thanks! so i just saw this bad boy posted and for cheaaap! should i stay away from something this old? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=100776;d=1
  19. before leaving the DZ i asked my instructor what i should be lookin for, for my first rig. he said a 190-210 should do and i've actually lost ~10 lbs since then. i was stickin my landings on the 210 but maybe the smarter thing would be to stack some more money and go do some testing before i buy...ill let this one get away from me. itd be easier if it didnt match my jumpsuit
  20. ive saved enough $$$ to justify looking for my first rig and i have come across a one on the classifieds here. i was just wandering what kind of specific things i should ask about the rig and is it common to jump the rig before purchase? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=99532&d=1 it does have RSL, AAD ready and he clarified its a g4 not a g2. is the 160-200 usually exit weight? im 180-185 before gear so that might be an issue...im no set on this rig, its just the ones for sale at my dropzone all say student on em anyway, if the consensus is to go ahead and ask to jump it, what should i offer? thanks a lot!
  21. thanks for the heads up on gettin gear at lodi. i gave bill a call for a price range and he said anywhere from 3.5-6k....what should i expect for ~4k? skycamefalling, it didnt happen to be this sabre 210 did it? http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y160/drkstrrcr/IMG_0154.png
  22. thanks for the warm welcome everyone and for the info about lodi...tho im guessing that plane is safe now im lookin forward to visiting the drop zones in the area once i get my own rig though. i tried hitting up the one in cloverdale, on my way home, and they told me i had to be B licensed or do my aff there in order to jump. small world, leben! thanks for the offer as well, ill be taking you guys up on that! reno, if you see anna maria there, tell her she needs to get back to flip with his jump suit! keith (the australian) was my instructor...nice guy. he let me crash at his place while doing my AFF. he got a biiig bottle of jack out of it, natually. oh, if any of you lodi people know someone selling a 190-210 for a 5'11-6' frame let me know! cheers
  23. i currently live in eureka but i plan to move around the dublin/pleasanton before this year is up. none of my friends seem very interested in skydiving...so thanks for the offer, i'll be sure to get in touch with you next time im headin that way!
  24. hey everyone! im 23, former motorcycle racer, i completed my aff about a month and a half ago over at lodi, i had a great time and met some good people! i put in 15 minutes tunnel time over at ifly a couple days before my aff, and im really glad i did...the last couple jumps we just played around! unfortunately i live about 6 hours away so ive been saving for a personal rig rather than spending $2-300 a week for a couple jumps. i've got rig questions, but i'll go put that in the proper spot awesome site and thanks to all you that contribute!
