  1. Hi Im looking for more info of "shelf life" parameters / storage conditions of parachute fabrics/webbings/lines other than the 3,5 years (MIL-DTL-6645J ), Im trying to learn & understand where that 3,5 years come from. I found very little information on degradation over time for raw materials on the shelf. On the military side, the government allows for shelf life of raw materials of 3 years or 5 years depending on the contract. On the civilian side there is no reference to shelf life on the regulations.

The degradation of Nylon or other synthetic fibers is insignificant when sitting in a humidity and temperature controlled environment.

Real damage UV lights (artificial fluorescent lamps or other), I already read the Wilcox study.

I know every manufacturer specifies their own "service life" depending on their experience and preference.

    Any info would be appreciated

    Nico

  3. Hi, the TS135 on the structural jumps, said you cant go with less than 264 fully equipped (20% over te MOW), wich means the max placard weight is 220, regarding the minimum operation weight its fixed by the manufacturer, any opinion about this??, the minimumOW needs to be more away posible for some light girl scenario??.....or close to the max to help the drop testing campaign. Any technical opinion will be apreciated.

PS: Perfo Designs said VLC Varies with Landing Condition

    Thanks a lot

  6. Hi everybody, other than the pin extraction force on the skyhook document and the stagging loop 1" shorter than the loop, and the 1/2 to 3/4" of loop excess over the pilot chute, there is any other measure info of the UPT Sigma reserve loop ?, around there.
    Thanks

  7. Hi manufacturers, there is any tech info about this?, PIA or MIL standards about raw material stored in shelving, has a maximum useful life? in this unused condition.
Nylon has any degradators in addition to abrasives or UV rays?.
I Know military has his own limits, but Im talking about civilian parachute manufacturing.
    Thanks

  8. Hi, question??, in a tandem equipment the drogue its part of the TSO, so the main drogue release ripcord as part of that system (1st or 2nd one) are part of the TSO right??

    copy of TS135 paragraphs...

    MAJOR COMPONENTS:
For purposes of this document a parachute assembly normally, but not exclusively, consists of the following major components:
    a. Deployment control device such as a sleeve, bag, diaper, or functional equivalent.
    b. Deployment initiation device (pilot chute, drogue, or functional equivalent) and bridle.
    c. Canopy(s) including suspension lines, reefing device, and connector links (if used).
    d. Riser(s), when not integral with harness and/or canopy.
    e. Stowage container(s) or stowage pack(s).
    f. Harness (es).
    g. Primary actuation device (ripcord or functional equivalent).
    h. Reserve static line.
    i. Drogue canopy and bridle (if used with reserve and/or emergency parachutes).
    j. Drogue release device (if used with reserve and/or emergency parachutes).

    DROGUE PARACHUTE ASSEMBLY & RELEASE:
For reserve or emergency parachute assemblies, incorporating a drogue, the drogue release shall be tested at an equivalent force to the drag force generated at the MOW and MPOS.
The human release force shall not be less than 5 lbf (22.2N) and must not exceed 22 lbf (97.9N). The release shall meet the human-factors requirements of 4.3.3.
