  1. Plan to hit Moab in late September for the MOAB boogie. The off site jumps and general scenery made that last year's jumping highlight for me.
  2. Reminder: Kimmie is not a neighbor, unless you consider people 6 miles away to be your neighbors. And this is the same old bat who complained about traffic originating from Centennial Airport THIRTY-NINE MILES AWAY. That's my bad. King Airs and Pilatus don't climb as well if they're full to the brim of cheap Denver Jet Center gas.
  3. If you have a Precision or Icarus canopy both of those manufacturers recommend psycho packing (some of their canopies) which is much easier in my opinion. PD does not recommend it. If you can find someone who is knowledgeable to walk you through it you could always see how that pack job opens for you. Good luck and blue skies!
  4. I switched to an Infinity Party Bag halfway through jumping a Stiletto 150 and then a Fusion 150 for a season. I had two spinning malfunction cutaways with the standard bag and nothing but beautiful openings since going semi-stowless. I have since changed to a Curv and have only a semi-stowless bag, also with wonderful openings. While I realize it's possible to have a spinning mal with any bag I think semi-stowless is less likely to create that situation.
  5. When the Labour party in the UK needed to elect a new leader last year they had an election and counted the votes. Just sayin But then how do they gerrymander and distract people while two opposition sides that are really the same retain power?
  6. I flew into Saint Paul this morning. It really cleared out nicely (minus the wind) but other than I-94 the roads were pretty bad.
  7. I've seen that setup from manufacturers for sponsored jumpers before. It's a flat sheet that holds 3 or 4 packed setups and rolls into a duffle bag for carrying and storage. The one I saw was made by NZAerosports for a test jumper in Colorado.
  8. I love how the police handled it towards the end of the video.
  9. I flew last night and intentionally went higher than normal for a good view. It was really incredible.
  10. I normally jump a Crossfire2 139, but I can also fit a Spectre 170 into the same rig (Curv VC3). I ordered a second set of risers, deployment bag, and pilot chute so I can switch between the two as needed. I thought I might switch canopies during a day of jumping but have found that whatever is packed and hooked up the night before becomes the canopy for the next day. I would love to have two rigs but it's enough to keep up on the maintenance for one AAD and the repack cycle.
  11. The box I opened was filled with newspaper clippings my grandmother saved and a box of dated handwritten letters that went back and forth between my grandparents. They wrote each other almost every day from the day he left to train at Fort Riley, Kansas until his return and detail both what was going on in the war effort and what my grandmother was dealing with managing a ranch in Nebraska. I will carefully read those and keep them until it's time to pass them on to my kids. I just don't want to hold onto the Nazi stuff.
  12. I'm really not sure who to ask about this stuff, so I'll throw it at a group of random skydivers and see what y'all think. Last year my grandmother passed away, two years after my grandfather did. They left several residences including a gigantic chunk of land in the middle of nowhere where they lived after WWII. After they died, my parents and my aunt auctioned off a ton of ranch supplies and later decided to sell the entire property. My family went and packed up personal items including a few boxes that no one had opened until a few nights ago. My family had gathered for the holidays and we pulled them out of storage to go through them and divide the items between relatives. My grandfather spent five years in Europe during WWII serving in the 7th Cavalry and later in the infantry (I think 9th Division, not sure). He never spoke about the war to anyone after returning, including my father and brothers. When we opened the boxes two nights ago we found a ton of leftover war stuff, including arm bands, medals, belt buckles and other items covered in Swastikas and issued by German armed forces. I'm assuming they were kept as trophies, but can't confirm anything, and don't know why they would be saved. Obviously I can't ask the source, and don't know anyone with whom to discuss it. The bottom line is that I don't want to hold onto any of the stuff, but am not sure what to do with any of it. Friends have commented that there is a huge market for it, but the thought of selling it to some neonazi to be worn as a badge of honor is disgusting. A few of the items have names, but I'm not sure how to go about contacting anyone, or that they would want to be contacted. Would it have any value in a museum, and if so does anyone have any idea what museum and how to contact them? Should I just dispose of it as I really don't want it in my house? I'm open to any input. Maybe I could just sell the medals for their weight value and burn the rest.
  13. If you don't have a car, how will you get to Casa Grande for sushi?
  14. At a school with that much pent up sexual frustration it's good they have guns as target shooting seems to be their only release. The behavior there is probably just like the behavior at any other university...they just lie about it a lot more.
  15. Anthony Jeselnik summed this whole situation up pretty nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FLGEr1zJYo
  16. Christmas Eve, my entire extended family gets together at my parents house for Dominos Pizza and sparkling grape juice in wine goblets. I don't remember when it started, but that has happened since I was a small child.
  17. Kallend, the Schrodinger reference is likely lost on the majority of the populace in this country. For future reference I would say that you know that Carson is lying strictly on the basis of personal experience with a higher power. It's the only way you can influence people, win elections, dodge difficult questions and avoid taxes.
  18. You could go to www.penisland.net and order promotional pens to tell everyone about your discovery.
  19. I have a Crossfire2 that was built in 2014 and a Spectre that was made in 1997.
  20. Really? That's encouraging. Anyone with an infinity with black hardware that's seen some action already? I believe that Velocity - like Rigging Innovations - uses Wichard for black hardware. Other manufacturers may use them as well.
  21. My former chief pilot has a hilarious story about hauling a 300+ pound cadaver in a Cessna 210 from the Pittsburgh area to Northern Florida in the middle of the night. Turns out the fuel selector location is an important thing to note when loading.
  22. The deployment bag, bridle, and pilot chute are part of the container system and come with it.
  23. I thought cavitation was something that happened in water with air bubbles being created by spinning propellers... What kind of bubbles would you get with an airplane moving through air? Are we talking about something like a skydiver's burble here - bubbles of low pressure air? Cavitation is the leading cause of pump failure in fuel systems to deliver high temperature and pressure fuel to turbine engines. If the pump quits, it's only a matter of time until the engine stops. It may be a different area of study, however.
