1. All valid points, but i just dont think this leg kicking business is a real answer. I dont think it would have prevented any of these canopy collisions. Theres a large blind spot to everyone under canopy. it would be impossible to acknowledge someone in that blind spot. If legkicking makes you feel more comfortable go for it...I just dont think its the answer to the problem. i think we have all been taught the answer, its just a matter of complacency.
2. i prefer to yell at other people under canopy if they are a factor.
3. horrible logic....if they didnt see them, they probably didnt see them kicking thier legs.
4. hope you get it going soon, would love to jump there when im out in Cali....beach landings at Pendleton would be sweet.
5. i like neptunes because they will tell you your decent rate in ft/sec on the display. Its helpful to know this information as you learn more about canopy skills. Theyre all accurate. Though if its mounted improperly and the sensor is obscured, you may have some crappy readings that may be read slightly off. But if your not swooping, it shouldnt matter.
6. get ready for a bunch of bullshit drama.
7. Its easier to get more jumps in at the ranch. they typically fly 2 otters and jumps are cheaper at $23. I think an average weekend day they put up around 40 to 50 loads
8. my safire 2 149 was a pretty tight fit in my W8. i dont think a 170 would be a good idea.
9. She could have easily been standing in front of a blue screen reporting. And not actually there.
10. Not at all. I believe an airliner hit each of the twin towers. I don;t believe that jet fuel burned hot enough and more importantly in a symetrical enough pattern as to simultaneously melt 47 steel columns resulting in a perfectly straight down freefall .., (wait for it) ..twice in one day. Fire is chaotic and random. The buildings each fell in an orderly and structured collapse. The force of impact can do alot of damage. Weve all seen the video, the plane goes right through the building. It didnt need to take out all of the columns. Just a majority, and the rest was coming down with it. How did you expect it to come down? Tip over?
11. it was a pretty calm day, on that load and at that moment, the winds had picked up to about 20mph out of nowhere, caused most of the load to land off.
12. kinda on topic... so ill share this photo. http://www.skydivingstills.com/Skydiving/2011/Weekend-Pics-6-5-11/17389991_2S2pR5#1321996940_SBJ9Dq4-A-LB
13. then people with 300 jumps have no business stowing sliders behind their heads? i think pulling a cord and stuffing the slider in a pocket would be less distracting the collapsing the slider, ensuring the tabs are hooked properly, then sliding it down the risers and reaching behind my head to find a rubber band or magnetic flap.
14. I pullout the door all the time, the prop blast makes for a quick opening. I usually don't loose more then 100ft of altitude. And these are on a Safire and crossfire which are known for long openings
15. the crossfire 2 does not not have the number 2 on the logo, but it will have it say on the label.
16. Most people who have died in car accidents, were driving perfectly good cars.
17. i talked to him about it this week. this is the seems like the most reasonable option.
18. Do you still have the issue with the slider pushing against the back of your head with the slocks?
19. well the performance isnt really the big deal. i just want the slider out of the way. and to have my wing reach its optimum shape.. I have a wings container and Wings wont endorse any type of stowing system on container, So my rigger wont put anything on for me. It seems like my options are either removable slider, or stay with collapsing it.
20. My main concern is performance, does being able to remove remove it affect performance vs stowing it? Itd be nice to know before i spend the $300+ on it.
21. Is a removable slider worth it? (not a full RDS) is there much difference between stowing it ?
22.
Some MOTORCYCLE RIDERS feel that their prestige comes from not only the skill with which they can RIDE, but from the fact they they routinely survive what is generally considered to be the deadliest form of MOTORING. Each new fatality raises the "coolness factor" of RIDING and therefore the "perceived coolness" of each surviving RIDE. In a sort of passive-aggressive reaction to a new fatality, this type of person openly mourns the death of his fellow RIDER, while secretly harboring a reaction of, "Yes. There's another one that I'm better than".
We can play this game all day long! 100% right on that..Theres 1000s of swoopers out there, maybe 10 a year die from it. Theres a science to it. some people simply fuck up, as is the case with most fatalities.
