Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has struggled with how to respond. He repeatedly made clear that he does not support the demonstrators’ arguments or their tactics, but he has also defended their right to protest and in recent days and weeks has sounded increasingly exasperated, especially in the wake of growing complaints from neighbors about how the protest has disrupted the neighborhood and hurt local businesses.

The mayor met daily with several deputies and commissioners, as more business owners complaining and editorials lampooning him as gutless, the mayor’s patience wore thin.

I got a text at 1:05 AM EST.

Yeah, doing this in the middle of the night . . . what could go wrong?

I guess we'll find out in the morning.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Good riddance to bad rubbish.:)
Edited to add: This is the kind of good things that happen when I unplug for an evening and relax by a nice open fire in my backyard firepit.

i thought you were looking forward to a good bloodbath? now you're wimping out...

I didn't say I was wimping out. Just think you sound like a teenager quoting Rage Against the Machine...

the bodies will start piling up soon enough. the trigger happy police will do their bit for the revolution...

You really need to start cutting royalty checks to Zack De La Rocha by now...

the main rioting is booked in for a year or two from now when the police shootings will have built up to 'tipping' point...

I'd wager the Police Dept has better marksmen and other anti-mob gear.

If you want to play with the PD, they'll "play" back.

this isn't 'play' - time to get real...

Assaults on Cops=Lots of dead protestors...

no doubt - we'll get there in a year or two. meanwhile the occupation builds up as the economy goes down. the 1% will of course try to keep hold of their wealth so expect an attempt to start a war or two to distract us...

You really ought to write Sci-Fi novels.

    >Are you going to compare OWS to the Army of the American Revolution?

Well, the US revolution actually accomplished something - so the OWS is a lot more comparable to the Tea Party.

The Tea Party has endorsed Congressional Candidates who have subsequently won office. OWS has not.

Yeah and as a group... those nutters have shown their inability to govern.. but they are great at destroying the credit rating of our country. With their slash and burn mentality, they will have VERY far reaching results for this country for the rest of this century... very great harm.

Yeah...because borrowing and borrowing (the Libtard Mantra) is such a great idea...How's about cutting the size of Gubmnit first? Nah, gotta subsidize some other Solyndra clones first.

"I am really disappointed with the city," Siegel said at the protest near City Hall. Oakland has become "the most hostile city to the Occupy movement. Where else are they having 600 police officers take down some tents?"

"Hostile?" Tell that to the business owners (read: productive citizens) who have had human waste strewn around on sidewalks near their stores and have had their windows smashed or had to endure other acts of vandalism.

    Whiny OWS Pussies.

A SWAT team of over 25 heavily armed police [define "Heavily Armed"]officers swarmed and arrested an Occupy spin-off group of anarchists in Chapel Hill N.C. who had taken over a long-vacant car dealership[Owned by someone else, vacant or not] and suggested the space be used for a free clinic, kitchen, child care, library, dormitories and other uses so much less scary than the SWAT team that we are left speechless[aw... poor baby couldn't use that useless BA in English to compose coherent statements?]. The police said they felt they had to take the semi-automatic-wielding action [um, what?] because "the group used large banners to obscure the windows to the business...[Which means the criminal squatters could have been harboring weapons or other contraband]" Sorry. We're still speechless.

Please provide a link to any post I have made indicating that I get entertainment from the suffering of others.

Has nothing to do with it

So your comment was as irrelevant as most of your posts.

The Irony, it seems, was you calling someone a Nasty SOB...(and not getting a Warning, for that matter)

No, but doing ok since I made good choices when all hell broke loose.

I did GREAT under Bush, I was laid off under Obama. You can try to claim that it was Bush's fault.... But that is just trying to pass the buck.

Did I agree with Bush spending money like it is water? No... But I also don't agree with Obama doing it. You seem to be mad at Bush, but be OK with Obama doing the same thing.

How much longer are you and your ilk going to blame Bush???? Obama has been in control for almost 4 years now.

I know that you will not respond with anything close to an actual answer but instead with some attack... But every once in a while I feel I need to at least TRY to get you to engage in thoughtful debate..... It always fails, but it is always worth a shot.

Don't ASSume.... Unless you understand how we got to the TRILLIONS in deficit since 1981.... you will now and forever be... without that CLUE we have been talking about.

Your Hero's Saint Ronnie and the Bush Family have taken us down this course with their ruinous agenda of making the wealthy VERY WEALTHY. Clinton did get it to a point where there was a chance... but when W tanked it all with his GOAT FUCK STUPID policies and spending largesse and wars of trying to swing his very little dick around.... unfortunately YES.. this president has been saddled with those disastrous economic decisions... no matter how you want to obfuscate about it.

    Wow...you're full of Misandry...

What DO you do for a living, anyhow?

Lets just say it has nothing to do with living off of human suffering.

I alleviate suffering. They come to me in a shitty situation. I get them out of said shitty situation...

Like a Doctor, I slice away gangrenous parts of one's life.

Whether or not he's legally culpable, in moral terms, He's morally culpable for having not screamed it to everyone in the Pennsylvania Criminal Justice system. He is no longer ethically qualified for a position of prominence or prestige.

So then, is everyone who is ever given second-hand info on accusations of abuse, obliged, under penalty of losing their job, to scream it to everyone in the criminal justice system? Making sure your boss and your bosses boss, and their bosses are aware is not enough?

    Again with the hyperbole.

Until we know exactly what was seen and by whom, exactly what was done about it and by whom - most everything is a rush to judgement.

My guess is that firing Joe was seen by the board as a way of looking good to the throngs that wanted immediate action even in the possible absence of facts.

BTW, as a boss I was involved twice in sexual harrassment allegations (not against me, but between employees). In the one case I followed up some time after reporting and was told it was under investigation and I would be consulted further if needed. It was also made clear no information would be shared on the results. Should I have went to the AG's office, my congressman, and the police at that point?

You're not sitting on a $50M empire. You're not the face of said $50M empire to the world. He should have done more.

With great power comes great responsibility. He failed to act responsibly.

Surprised at the rush to judgement on Paterno; and even more surprised by the hyperbolic editorials.

From what I've read, which is all anybody but the eyewitnesses have to go on, Paterno was not a witness to or present to any abuse. He was told by a 3rd party, and reported it up the chain of command. Haven't seen anything yet on whether or not he ever followed up with his boss, or confronted the abuser directly. There are a lot of possible scenarios in which Joe would be out of the loop regardelss of action being taken (or not) on the abuser.

Yet still we see sensationalist editorials using words like aided, abetted, ignored, looked the other way. It appears from the currently available info those are false accusations.

IMO, the people that ought to be held up for the most intense questioning (other than the actual abuser) are the eyewitness and the topmost official that decided not to take action to remove the abuser. Though again, we don't know the details. Did the eyewitness say something on the spot (like "What the fuck is the matter with you?"). Did he intervene, or at least intrude?

It'll be interesting to hear details on exactly what transpired from the time the abuse took place to the present - if such details are ever made public. Until then, at least IMO, it is premature to hold anybody other than the abuser and the uppermost level of leadership that let it lay (if that is what they did) as responsible.

Cannot wait for the Winter weather and the NYC Dept of Health to put an end to these Libtards' little flight of fancy...

Hey...get in line! I made the call about winter coming on several weeks ago. ;)
We'll see how they deal with frostbite and other discomforts, esp. when a blizzard hits. How much would you bet they'll be running for cover inside the buildings that house the very people they are trying to protest against? :D

And the NYPD will accommodate them at Riker's Island for Trespass. Lady Justice, I love ya!
