  1. I guess I'll go try and find some 25 lb cans of soup tomorrow since thats what I usually work with...LOL www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  2. Soup cans? Too funny... Go buy some small bumb bells (2-5 lbs size) from Big 5, or a set of the strengthening "Bands" work great and they are cheap. Start out easy and work up, as you find it easier to do the reps by standing on the bands and lifting them up from your sides with your elbows locked straight. Bands come in a set each for more resistance or sold seperately and easy to store at home. Also work on doing calf raises (pointing you toes) with many reps. Weights may be used here if you wish to, but not needed for endurance. This will help you to not have your legs get fatigued when making those long flights. Good luck! 9. Hello Lurch, Please dont think just because you have gotten in 200 jumps that your ready to try a wingsuit! PLEASE get with a BMI and let him know how current you are, and maybe do a few jumps WITHOUT the wingsuit before you put one on. He can give you pointers on what you may need to work on BEFORE you jump a suit, and it may take a number of jumps to get where you need to be before you can put one on. Please don't think I am douting your ability, just go about jumping a wingsuit the right way. Though I am in California, let me know if I can help you in any way? 11. Hello Luis, I'm a BirdMan Instructor/Dealer in the Nor Cal area and I'd be happy to help you with what ever it is you need in the way of a BirdMan wingsuits or Pantz. 14. Please remember the number of jumps you have means nothing! Though I have seen people that are well qualified at 200 jumps, there are MANY people I seen that have NO business even thinking if jumping a wingsuit. What you want is to be able to do is handle any type of situation the Wingsuit may put you in if it requires an emergency procedures! Please DO contact an Birdman Instructor if your thinking of flying a suit at 200 jumps and be safe. You'll love it! Here's a pic of us flying over Monterey. I'm on the right in the Skyflyer, but you may not want to start with a such a high performance wingsuit. Blue Skies & Long Soars....... Eddie www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  15. Hello Nathan, We are gathering this coming saturday at Lodi to do some flocking dives, and you are welcome to join us. We will try to set you up with similar experienced fliers in order for you to have someone that falls the same as you if we can. We have a growing list of wing fliers (about 12) that mainly gather at Lodi because they have an Otter, and the quick turn around times they can give. Feel free to contact me if you wish at [email protected] Eddie www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  16. Thank you for you opinion Bill, But it is just that, "YOUR OPINION". His question was" what are the requirements" and every Instructor has their own...... >You wrote; >I think that open face helmet might just _prevent_ a few >spins to begin with. Tell us all in what way does an open faced helmet have anything to do with "preventing" a spin? The only thing a full faced helmet prevents is being able to stick your tonuge out at them for legs out, or do you just yell at them also? >You wrote; >I've never gotten hit by a spinning student (1200+ AFF >jumps) but have gotten hit on exit and at pull time. We all have gotten hit on exit and at pull time, but if you have never had to agressively stop a student that is going into a rapid spin, then I'd say you have been pretty lucky I guess huh? I have had a few over the (1500+ AFF jumps) >You wrote; >Since I'm getting paid to teach them, and an open face >helmet helps me to do that, I consider it my job to avoid >those hits without resorting to a full face. We all concider our job as an AFF Instructor a VERY serious one, and the safety of our students and ourselves shouldn't be taken lightly. We want to see the student progress and enjoy what we love, and also jump for a long time and being safe keeps you able to do that! Again, thanks for your opinion! Ed
  17. Chromeboy, You may want to check at your home DZ if there are any, but I can tell you from experience (AFF 1994) that you will wish you had a full faced helmet on some of your jumps if you ever get a student that spins! The feet and elbows start to come around fast at times and it's a good idea to have as much protection as possible, to avoid getting knocked out when you have to tackle them, and have to rely on the one thing a SMART AFF instuctor should have, and thats a Cypress. You can never tell how good a student will fly untill you jump with them. It's nice for a student to see an Instructor smiling at them, but use a open faced after you have seen how they fly!
