  1. Anyone tried the new Icarus wingsuit canopy? I'm curious what you thought of it compared to the Pilot7, Horizon, or Epicene.

    http://www.icaruscanopies.aero/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=146&Itemid=676

"The ōm-7’s multi stage controlled deployment sequences will allow you to fly your wingsuit and experience worry-free, soft, on-heading openings. Peace of mind to conclude your wingsuit flight. Namaste"

The ICARUS WORLD ōm-7 is a 7-cell, semi elliptical tapered canopy specially designed and engineered for wingsuit pilot, but it's also suitable for all skydivers looking for the reliable performance of a contemporary 7-cell canopy.

His hybrid* construction (ZP, F-111), 2+3+2 nose configuration (external inlets partially closed, central inlet fully open) and parabolic low distortion reinforcement tapes allows the ōm-7 to deliver all you would ever wish for from a top-notch wingsuit canopy:

    • Soft, on heading openings
    • Low pack volume
    • Great flight performances
    • Powerful flare

The RESULT is a "fun-to-fly", enjoyable, practical, easy to pack, outstanding 7-cell wingsuit canopy as well a parachute with enlightened performance for all other facets of modern skydiving.

    * Optionally available in full ZP

Probably avoid skyhook. Jury's still out about whether it's a good idea with wingsuits as far as I'm concerned. It could mess with AAD deployments. My wife's vector doesn't have it for that reason.

    Can you elaborate???

  6. I don't have a fly site :( but was jumping a small acro suit.

From our video it looks like maybe the bag got stuck in one corner coming out then got twisted around, I was stable/symmetrical during pull time.

  8. I reached out to Sunpath with some questions about this container. One of them being that when i'm not doing working (belly) jumps that I like to wingsuit-and what their thoughts were about me using this for both.
Their response was "This container is designed specifically for Wing Suit applications and we would not advise that the container be used for any other discipline"

  9. I have an Infinity I-33 (bought new a few years ago) and it was ordered with a Pilot 150 in it (got the OK from Velocity Rigs). It was tight, but it worked. I've been jumping a Zulu 132 in it for awhile and it fits nice. (all standard ZP). I recently started wingsuiting and went back to putting the zp Pilot 150 in it, works just fine. I have also flown a Zulu 120 in the same container and it also fits fine. I was originally told by Velocity that the rig I ordered could fit a 117-150. Hope this helps!

  11. Straight from Aerodyne:

Aerodyne Research, LLC The Zulu is a fully elliptical canopy which offers exceptional performance with harness input. This means you can execute beautiful 90 and even 180 degree turns using only harness input. It also means, if you are asymmetrically loading the harness because your wing suit is challenging you during opening, that you can spin the canopy up during a wing suit opening.

We had a lot of the test jumps on the Zulu done by one of our most experienced wing suit jumpers, but we cannot really recommend it to any but the most experienced and talented wing suit flyers. You need to be able to fly your wing suit throughout the opening sequence with near perfect harness symmetry, and today's ultra high performance wing suits make this quite a challenge indeed.

Aerodyne recommends the Pilot as a perfect canopy for wing suiting. It has great performance when highly loaded, but offers very forgiving openings. And for those who prefer a 7 cell, we've been testing a 7 cell Pilot which we hope to release in the third quarter of 2015.
