Not sure what kind of flying you're looking to do, but we host Elsinore EXCEL Tunnel Camps once a month at iFly Hollywood. Great for skill building for anyone fresh off A-License, 4-way fanatics wanting to work on technique, or people looking to get some solid belly skills before rocking through a USPA Coach or AFF-I rating course. We have a bunch of freefly tunnel coaches here as well, depending on what you're looking for. The tunnel is small, up to 3-ways for belly and good for individual coaching for freefly, but it's CHEAP. $600/hour. Happy to send you some more info if you're coming through this way.

To be fair, it's not my team that needs video - we have video. But a pickup team from Elsinore is heading to Chicago in September and needs some love. Thanks for posting, Spot!

I lived in Austin briefly and ventured out to Skydive Spaceland with my boyfriend to check it out. Professional and friendly staff gave me a great DZ briefing, and everyone was really great with my questions. Definitely would have called Spaceland a home away from home DZ if I was still in Texas!

I went to ZHills for the Christmas/New Years boogie last year and it was an absolute blast. Multiple Otters and the SkyVan turning, helicopter jumps, a gigantic landing area - it was quite the change from my home DZ. The setup is great, the facilities are awesome, camping is free, fireworks, great bar, the food is amazing and two words for you: Pirate Ship. You have to see it to believe it. If you can only take one trip down south this winter, check out the Christmas/New Years boogie at Zhills. You'll have a great time, pinky swear.

I recently had the chance to venture out to Elsinore for the 10th Annual Chicks Rock boogie. I've heard nothing but amazing things about this dropzone and the people that jump here, so I was totally pumped to get out there and spend some time in the sky. Let me just say, this was the best boogie I've ever been to, and I'm in the business of making boogies happen. Most of the people I was jumping with were jumpers from Elsinore, so it was nice to get a feel of what the place is all about, beyond how many amazing people came from all over the world for the boogie. There were at least a couple hundred jumpers there and plenty of organizers - I think I counted 10? Maybe more? Point was, there was always someone to jump with, and the level of talent they had there was something I've never seen before. It was pretty cool, as a newer jumper with 200ish jumps, to be on skydives that actually worked. I turned more points in 8 jumps at Chicks Rock than I ever have at a weekend back home. And the parties. Oh the parties. Elsinore knows how to entertain and they do it right. Night swoops, costume parties, photo booth, plenty of delicious adult beverages for everyone... it was a great time. Looking forward to spending more time here in the future!

I did a tandem at Temple when I was in town for SXSW last year, went home (CSC) and got my license. This year I brought a handful of people two days in a row to do tandems. Mark was awesome in helping us get everything coordinated and we had a seamless experience for a bunch of first time jumpers who were in town for SXSW Interactive. Phil jumped with most of my friends and he was the perfect balance of professional, friendly and welcoming. I know two of my friends that jumped mentioned they're interested in doing AFF in the future, and I have no doubt that Phil, Wendy and Mark have a role in their positive experience, beyond the skydive itself. For funjumpers, this is a smaller DZ, but they have great planes. CSC leases out their PAC 750XL from November-April, and from April-November they have a Grand Caravan. Friendly vibe, definitely made me feel welcome and possibly transformed two tandems into future AFF students. I can't wait to come back next year and bring more people out to introduce them to our sport!

Spinning line-over malfunction. I looked up at my canopy and instantly thought of the flashcards we go over in ground school that show us the different malfunctions. My first thought was "what is this called and how do I get out of it?" I tried pumping the brakes, nothing. Pulled the cutaway handle and by the time I had reached for the reserve handle, the RSL had already deployed the reserve. I tell you what, the velcro on the brakes on my reserve was TIGHT. I did the rest of my reserve ride taking deep breaths and thinking "holy shit I did it" and landed, standing up, smack dab in the middle of the landing area. It was a glorious thing!

Graduated two weeks ago! Hello A-License and LOADS of beer. Had my first cutaway on my 15th jump - that was a blast... Blue skies!

Do you mean Freefall University at Chicagoland Skydiving Center? That's where I just graduated from - great instructors and awesome DZ to call home.

Did a tandem where I actually learned something last weekend. Definitely got me pumped up for AFF. Looks like I'm not waiting until July. CSC is awesome - the group there is great and so willing to help and teach. Ground school Friday night, camping at the DZ and getting going on my solo jumps on Saturday. Looking forward to AFF - anything you wish you knew before you started?

Hey there everyone! Just wanted to drop by and say hello - I'll be starting AFF in July *fingers crossed* and am thrilled to find a community as resourceful as this one! I did my first tandem in 2005 at Skydive Space Center in Titusville (can you say STUNNING VIEWS?) and I knew I wanted to do this for real someday. But, as the story goes, I was in college/working at Disney and funds were tight. I went again this March at Skydive Temple outside of Austin, TX and I was reminded of how much I LOVE this sport! Now that I'm graduated and employed, I can't wait to get certified! I'm in Chicago now - does anyone know of/have a preference towards Skydive Chicago or Chicagoland Skydiving for AFF? Seems like a passionate crowd here - I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Skydive Elsinore is located approximately one hour away from both San Diego and Los Angeles metropolitan areas, nestled in the scenic Elsinore Valley, home to Southern California's largest natural lake and next to the beautiful Ortega Mountains. Skydive Elsinore was established in 1959 and is the longest running skydiving operation in North America, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2009. Skydive Elsinore prides itself with having the friendliest staff in the industry. Skydivers locally, nationally and internationally are treated second to none. Everyone who walks onto the property leaves with a smile on their faces. Skydivers commonly refer to Skydive Elsinore as their "home away from home". Skydive Elsinore's unique layout was carefully planned to offer skydivers ease of use. The 8,000 sq. ft. covered and carpeted packing area with cool misters, offers skydivers UV protection for their equipment and comfort for packing. Adjacent to the packing area is 1.5 acres of plush grass which is the main landing area.The landing area is carefully maintained and is nicer to land on than a well manicured golf course. The aircraft loading area is adjacent to the landing areas. No bus rides, undue sun exposure, or long walks make for the most comfortable skydiving environment possible.
