1. It was a Mig-15. I have never seen a video of it, only still shots. He was incredibly lucky to get away with that one.
2. Thanks to all that have replied here and via PM. Most have recommended the same guys, so I have sent e-mails to get everything set up.
3. Yes, at the time I was still racing. I changed jobs shortly after that, but I was told by that insurance company that I would never be able to get coverage through them again. I was basically blacklisted. They said I could not prove I was no longer involved in the sport. I told them they could not prove I ever was involved in the sport. (I never admitted to them I was racing) It did not seem to matter. Luckily no provider since then has given me any problems. I was worried for a while that I would be placed on some sort of list that would flag me every time I tried to get insurance no matter what company it was through.
4. I agree completely that changes in the health care system are needed, but Obama care is so far off the mark it isn't even funny. Anyone involved in activities deemed as dangerous can already have major issues with health coverage. What happens when an insurer will not cover anyone involved in motocross, car racing, skydiving etc? I can see that happening sooner than later. Will we all just have to pay the huge fine for not having insurance even though we can't get it, or will we have to pay out half of our income to afford insurance to cover us? I had a previous employer that funded employees health insurance 100%. Somehow their insurance company found out I raced motocross (even though I never filed a single claim with them) and the insurer dropped me like a hot rock.
5. Any ideas on who I should ask for as a coach? I'm in Texas so I know absolutely no one out there personally.
6. I am a very new skydiver with two tandems, and two static line jumps under my belt. I will be going to the bay area for work in a few weeks, and will be staying very close to the iFly tunnel there. I plan to book at least 30 minutes of time to work on the basic so I will be better prepared for my AFF and solo jumps. Any good tips on what I can do to get the most out of this? This will probably be the only shot I have at a tunnel for a long time.

Free Airplane!

I just found out a friend of mine was part of the company that built the later XP variants. I don't know if he had a hand in any of the early part 103 birds. I am waiting on a call back from him. If he can help, I'll give you his contact info.

I saw that, Aerolite seems to have a problem with poor surface balancing. My Citab had balancing and never fluttered a bit even at the redline bottom of powered loops. Linkages have NO slop for sure, but aileron control is much better near min speed than cruise speed. seems weird. I think Ill add balancing anyway, I can fabricate that easy enough. You might do some tuft testing to see if the airflow is detaching at higher speeds. The could be causing an aerodynamically induce flutter. Some vortex generators could be used to solve that.

Check to make sure there is absolutely no slop in any linkage, pivot point etc. Try gap sealing the control surfaces and be very careful flight testing afterward as that can sometimes cause more flutter, but that is rare. Also look to see if there are any signs of the control surfaces being static balanced with weights. You might have had a weight pop off somewhere down the road and didn't know it. If you still have issues PM me. I have a bunch of friends that fly ultralights that could probably help. EDIT: If you look on the BRS website, they have a listing of people that were saved by their systems. One of them is the same aircraft you have and cause of crash was listed as flutter. There are other part 103 aircraft made by the same company that were lost to flutter, loss of control, and in flight breakups. Sounds like yours is not an isolated case.
10. Welcome to the Forums! Hang out and have fun! Good to see some new blood in Texas! Thanks. I look forward to getting licensed and jumping some of the more scenic areas of TX. Texas...SCENIC?!?! Welcome to the jungle from another Lone Star Loon! Well some areas are better than others. At least there isn't much to hit here if you have to land off site. As long as you miss the wind farm you're good.

12. Hi all. I made my first tandem after years of putting it off last Sat. at Skydive Westex. I plan to go back for one more this weekend, then start my static line program in the spring after it warms back up. Looking forward to a new adventure, and new friends.
