  1. Thanks guys! I am actually hoping this move doesn't happen, but I may have no choice. I think it's going to be quite a culture shock living that close to DC when I have lived in TX all my life. I don't think a lot of my views will fit in too well....
  2. Total of zero. Again... This makes the sixth straight weekend that the winds have been too high to jump.
  3. Thanks. I'll definitely drop by if I end up that way.
  4. Sounds like I am going to miss being 15 minutes away from the DZ here....
  5. It looks like I may be re-locating from Texas to Chantilly VA. I found one dropzone close by but it appears to be pretty much a tandem farm only, with no AFF course offered.
  6. some of which include, daytime flight only and no more than one passenger. Light sport can fly at night with the correct endorsement. Since he held a PPL it shouldn't be hard to get. good point. but then the LSA would have to have approved lights too. some, like mine (trike), do not. been wanting to get some, but damn! pricey. What type of trike do you fly? I have been looking into getting one of those things. Most of the guys around here fly Airborne and Air Creation stuff. I fly a Solo Wings Aquilla (made in South Africa), 582 rotax 2 stroke, 64 hp. cruise speed 45 mph. very happy with it. i purchase this one used, had 60 hours on it. i added a BRS. i have a radio, and gauge pod. i really like this one because the hang post has a "bend" in it, so the passenger has much more head room. very, very, very, fun to fly low.

  9. Yet another reason that one should go to Houston...
  10. Houston should have received one. The museum in New York is a joke. If they didn't give it to Houston , then it should at the very least gone to the NMUSAF.
  11. I really like that show too. No added drama, and they actually build really top notch stuff. They are very well respected in that segment of the shooting world. The only other shows besides that that I watch regularly are Flying Wild Alaska, and the UK Top Gear. If I watched "real" housewives, I'd want to shoot someone.
  12. I hear ya. At least the fires didn't go through Stanton. Hopefully this weekend will be better.
  13. I wonder if some of the small Alaskan cargo outfits might be interested in these as well. Any guess as to useful load?
  14. The tunnel is definitely worth while. I haven't done the sky jump.
  15. I find that often times women who are highly educated, and career driven are the ones do not want kids. I work with a lot of women who hold a masters or PhD , and most of them do not have, nor want kids.
  16. Yes, but until spring is over and the wind quits blowing 35kts every Sat. I have no choice...
  17. Good deal. Maybe I'll run into you there one of these weekends.
  18. Which DZ? Westex or Eagle's Nest?

    Power naps

If I go to sleep, it has to be fore several hours. Power naps leave me feeling disoriented and almost hung over.
  20. Update 3/25/2011: Sorry I have not been keeping up with the up dates. Between the doctors, my physical therapy, fund raising, emails, phone calls and everything else, I have a hard time keeping up with it all. Sorry. I am doing fine and I should be discharged from the hospital on Sunday or Monday. Amanda is doing very well for the most part. They rotated her and her bed to a 45 degree angle for about 40 minutes today which is very good for her. My physical therapist came running in to my room the tell me about it and what a big step it was for Amanda's recovery. Amanda is also down to 30% on her ventilator which is also really good. Amanda did have a surgery yesterday on her hands and unfortunately it did not go really well, but it could have been even worse. The doctors had to amputate half the length of her fingers and thumb on her right hand and the same on 3 fingers on her left. They were able to save her thumb and pinky on her left hand. In technical terms they amputated the Distal phalanges and the Intermediate phalanges. She goes back to surgery this morning around eight to try to fix all the fractures in her face and around her eye. I saw the x-rays and the doctors have a lot of work. I pray they do their best work ever. I asked the doctors today about how long it might be before Amanda is awake and talking. They guessed about 2 months. Amanda has a very long, hard and expensive road ahead of her. I ask everyone to pray for her and for those who are able to donate to one of Amanda's funds to please do so. Every dollar counts and the Franklin and Younkin families will forever cherish your support to help Amanda. Thank you all and God bless you. I will let you know how things went tomorrow night. Thank you again, love you all, Kyle

    ATC asleep!

Then there is that Fed EX jet that crashed on landing in Japan because the crew was asleep. So much for auto-land...
  23. I'm not in de nile. I just want my pharaoh share of the cash.
