  3. It all depends on the dates you are choosing... Right now you can find the same routing for about $350 on a single ticket with a single stop (again that's assuming at least 7 days advanced). Here is what works: 1) Take the very earliest fly available, usually 6:00am. 2) Avoid departing on Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri ( Sat, Sun and Mon are usually the best deals). 3) Book & pay at least 7 days in advance 4) Use the alternate airports ( Chicago Midway instead of Ohare) The route you are looking for is served by American Airlines, and depends on your booking dates you can get away with $350. Hope this helps. Y yo, pa' vivir con miedo, prefiero morir sonriendo, con el recuerdo vivo". - Ruben Blades, "Adan Garcia"

  13. 1. Well, lets see... my "chute" looks bad, my companion, who probably is tracking for his life will be around 200 feet away, ass pointing my way and reaching for his own freaking "chute". Oh wait, there must be somebody above me... Hey you, get down here ! 2. When my "companion" gets to me ? Wait a second, here I am trailing a malfunctioning main canopy and waving to my "companion", come here, I need your help ! Lets hook up ! Never mind the freaking malfunction, we will be fine ! Lets hook arms and sing "Kumbaya" ! Oh, by the way, did I tell you you are my new best friend... I know we are perfect strangers floating in the sky.... I love you man ! 3. The two of you will be floating at terminal velocity, alright ! 130MPH, my ass ! More like 160MPH if we are lucky. Oh, yeah, lets hope my "companion" did not pack him/herself a snapper, otherwise he will be bringing only my arms back to the DZ. 4. Open the chute ? Who me? I just hooked my freaking arms around the other skydiver's harness. I can't even give 'em the finger to pull ! Forget shaking hands after all this (or even patting the other skydiver in the ass), I'll be walking around like a knuckle dragging Orangutan ! 5. Your "friend" is now probably loading at 3.0+, holding to you with one hand and steering with telekenesis. If you happened to have hooked up with a tandem master doing a solo, you will only break your arms.... otherwise, looks like a leg will be gone too ! What do you mean "I" have to avoid the powerlines and other obstructions, I am the one hanging by the tendons ! 6. Again, I ain't steering ! Tell my new found friend ! Of course, now I have no arms to swim, a potentially broken leg on landing... and a small humidity problem which is about to the same "you are out of luck" job as the parachute but in a slower fashion. This is good ! I start preparing after I broke two arms, a leg and almost drowned.... Thanks for the advice! Now I realize that parachutes are meant to open and that I have a reserve "chute"... Did you mention about trying this "reserve chute" before enticing companions into becoming my new best friends? Ok, no twisting the rear or the nose. Tell that to my new friend ! Y yo, pa' vivir con miedo, prefiero morir sonriendo, con el recuerdo vivo". - Ruben Blades, "Adan Garcia"
  14. I must be bored out of my mind!!!! Apparently, some expert on skydiving operations decided to post a new set of emergency procedures! You've got to see this ! http://www.worstcasescenarios.com/scenario.htm?scenarioid=8&cache=1079818026 Well, lets throw away the SIM 2004.... this procedure does it for me... I am particularly fond of point up to let my fellow skydiver know that I am too stupid to try the reserve ! 16. My vote goes to Skydive Atlanta... It's my home DZ.... People are great! Management is safety-conscious and accommodating. With that said, I am a customer of multiple DZs and have no complaints about the places I've been to... but it sure is GOOD TO BE HOME! Thanks Tim & Trey ! Cheers Y yo, pa' vivir con miedo, prefiero morir sonriendo, con el recuerdo vivo". - Ruben Blades, "Adan Garcia"

  23. Damn Clay ! I had to stay in Atlanta this weekend. We had an excellent Saturday run, not bad for having only a dozen regulars at SDA. But I sure as hell missed the crowd at the Mardi Gras boogie. The weather is getting warmer ! I might be heading to Ohio really soon ! Cheers George Y yo, pa' vivir con miedo, prefiero morir sonriendo, con el recuerdo vivo". - Ruben Blades, "Adan Garcia"
  24. About 18 months ago I wrote my first review of Skydive Atlanta. Well, I was wrong when I said 8.5 out of 10 (remember, I was a newbie back then). 500 jumps later (and after visiting a dozen or so other drop-zones), I can provide an unqualified opinion that Skydive Atlanta is one of the BEST DZs in the United States. Where should I start? The facilities are excellent. Huge hangar, plenty of room. The people are AWESOME, the friendliest DZ I've ever been to. You are never a stranger here. Within 10 minutes you will be introduced to all the regular jumpers (whether you are a free-flyer, belly-flyer or a one-man-hybrid flyer like me). Always a friendly crowd after-hours. Stick around for the videos of the day, sit back, enjoy a movie and a few cold ones. Landing facilities are the best I've seen so far. Not a single dip, hole, rock or stub in the landing area. This is the best groomed landing area in the U.S. Had a bad spot or pulled a tad too low? Don't worry! About 4000 acres of FLAT alternate landing spots. I had four cut-aways in 12 months at Skydive Atlanta. I landed with my main and free-bag twice and the other two times the owners had my main canopy retrieved before I landed the reserve ! How's that for service? Moreover, if you land any where near the end of the runway in either direction,(that's about 1/2 mile from the main landing area) you are pretty much guaranteed a comfortable ride back in a car to the landing area. Needles to say, if you have to land outside of the airport, you can be assured that at least two experience jumpers will be looking for you! Either the owners or another experienced jumper will pick you up! No kidding, this DZ has the most caring jumpers you can ever hope for. Aircraft? How about a screaming King Air, anywhere between 6 to 8 minutes to full altitude (that's 13.5 AGL). In over 450 jumps at this DZ I had less than 5 jumps below 13,000 ( and that's due to weather). Slow day? They will fly you in the Cessna 182 to 10,500. Safety? Extremely safe operation. Best of all, the safety mind-set permeates the DZ. Everyone is on the lookout for your safety ! The instructors are OUTSTANDING. No Sky Gods here. You get an honest input to your questions and priceless advice. In summary, I've been jumping at SkyDive Atlanta for over 18 months and miss the place every day that I am not there. The sport could use more DZs like SDA: caring, safe, friendly and committed to the experience jumpers as well as the first time jumpers. I have NEVER seen a first time jumper complain about the service or the experience. Truly a class-act! If your travel takes you through Atlanta, give it a try. If you are considering a first jump in the Atlanta area, this is the premier place to go. Cheers George
