  1. Should have called it light lines and dropped the 22 second title intro. To be honest a very dull video no offence there are some great speed flying vids out there but gliding down snowy mountain on your own was a bit dull. Rather watch a BASE proxi or flocking video any day or even an amusing dog. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  2. Most realistic from looking at this would be a reserve pin that was not fully in and on impact was enough to dislodge it. Its been seen enough times on people exiting in doors and if the pin is close a slight nock on the door as they take grips releases the pin and reserve is initiated. If the RSL was knocked it would need to be under tension with little to no slack to initiate. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  3. Tailors or sewing shop should be able to help you, I replaced all zipper holders with split rings and you can put a blob of glue at the end of the teeth on with side which will stop this ever happening. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  4. Most aspects already covered. 19000ft in a fast climbing aircraft with a rapid exit should be fine. However you physiology is affected by multiple factors including age, body fat and if you smoke being some of the most significant. BPA dz likely to mandate free streem O2 for this though its going to all depend on climb rate in reality. You will find some fairly clear rules. If you start looking at higher 25k+ your into pre breathes demand breathing or full pressure systems. Full pressure breathing kit is not readily available to civilian jumpers for the real high altitude 35k+ domain generally down to liability concerns. If things go wrong at these altitudes your time of useful condciousness drops dramatically 5-10 secs at 40k. You also start factoring in cold which can be -60c. However 19k you should be fine. If you want any other info pm me. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  5. So you did get a response so why come here and try and spread BS. I have bought from Birdman, Tonysuits, Jii wings and PF had a good experience with all of them. As everyones aware any company has challenges from time to time with build time generally due to excess surge demand for new suits and high volumes. They cant simply outsource as the skills take time to replicate and if quality dropped it would hurt them. So they have to balance stock volume against custom builds and risk of delay. Basic logistics and market vs skils pool dictates. But coming on here shouting doesnf really change much. Those who are truely inept fall under the bus. People dont pay good money repeatedly for poor service. So if any company is consistently rubbish it will go under. Anyway enough of this just looking forward to my new wing arriving. 6. You need to be able to swivel head around all axis to clear airspace, during flight, deployment and post deployment, you need to be able to look down at chest mounts and up at deploying canopy, over shoulder etc pre deployment and in flight to be aware of other flyers . On top of this you may wish to look down to carryout emergency drills, you also may wish to be able to mount a camera, with as reduced a snag risk as possible, have decent protection from impacts and be light weight so as to reduce loading in flight and on deployment. You would also like it to be affordable. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  7. A few thoughts from across the pond, as a basic courtesy if I am going to buzz a tandem, I ask the tandem master if he is cool with that and what colour his canopy is. I also explain that I will buzz no lower than 4K and from either right or left, so he is not mid spiral etc and knows which way I am coming from. This conversation usually takes all of 30 seconds. Some TI do not want to be buzzed and will let you know in no uncertain terms. however most would rather you engaged and asked before than surprised them with 150mph dive across them. Some people are also very proficient at targeting their wingsuit accurately others are not, so if a TI does not trust you its not happening. As for students I generally avoid them as they miles away from my airspace and if they I near it, I still avoid them as they may just toggle a turn last minute at you without realizing your approaching them. 8. How many fatals have there been skydiving from pulling after collapsing wings? Symmetry I would hope was a given taught from day one as it is critical. However I wont be teaching new students to pull in full flight it opens far more issues up with head down deployments as the shut of upper wings with leg wing open. As for losing 1000ft what are these people doing? Taking 10 secs to deploy. So your flying a large or medium suit typically at 30-45mph and you collapse you wings as you pull. Basic acceleration does not lose you 1000ft umless you are seriously pissing about with your BOC. Maybe 200ft but not a 1000ft unless your reading a book mid deployment 45mph back to terminal takes 5-8seconds. Carrying your momentum and AoA will continue for the 1-2 seconds you deploy. If you are hurtling down mountainsides in stream beds and dodging trees then I am sure every foot you recover at pre deployment climbout and flare are critical however this is avery different environment to skydiving. That said it makes sense to develop these skills if your end goal is ultimately BASE however I dont see many pre training jumpers using F111 7 cells. Most are flying 9 cell zp and are still mixing up there jumps. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  9. The age old debate, Kudos for raising this. A couple of additions which I think maybe worth a mention. Firstly altitude, what is your hard deck if you are above your hard deck, you pack for yourself (are competent) and jumping a modern well maintained kit then I personally would attempt a 1 shot clear whilst still above my hard deck. Having had 2 PC in tows and cleared both; 1st Pc in two Teflon cables fitted instead of curved closing pin resulted in PC in tow on first jump after Modification. I reached around and physically pulled bridle and cleared it. Second instance PC in tow behind my Viper wingsuit, had not shut down leg wing as much as I could, I shut it down shook left then right and cleared it. If I was below hard deck I would be doing full procedures cutway and pull reserve. However I always take an extra 1000ft altitude over personal hard deck, 5 secs extra freefall time vs time to deal with any issues is not a hard personal choice. I jump standard kit for all my jump whether freefly or wingsuit or any other discipline, however if your flying a very long bridle as some do then this could also be something to think about with avoiding main reserve entanglements. No time to think what you might do in these situations you need to have decided before and have that muscle memory drilled for each scenario you can think of.
  10. Firstly never accused you of cheating, and secondly I never mentioned google. I suggested you talk to someone on a DZ, yes we can all list you a bunch of pretty well understood and issues and some less so. If your doing AFF you must visit a DZ and hence you could bring your presentation to life by sitting down with a wingsuit coach or flyer and actually talk through the issues and relate them to the aircraft DZ and a wingsuit. That's where I was coming from not a google my answers approach. Their are some very good guidance pieces on national governing bodies and excellent resources like flylikeabrick etc Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  11. Perhaps sonce your trying to learn you could get on the magical internet and do some research or even talk to people in the real world at dropzone. Rather than ask others to do your work for you. You might just learn something then. There is so much information out there that is readily available to anyone that can be bothered. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  12. Councilman24 comments spot on multiple differences in AAD design and operation. Take away read the manual of your AAD not a confusing article for the masses. Also starting articles with statements around 9 AAD fatalities and then failing to qualify a single credible source is not great or any real detail that supports the argument as if in each case the AAD was the real problem.
  13. Squirrel Epicene manual has an interesting point, their words not mine, "It may be necessary to change your pilot chute for non wingsuit jumps". Nice so you fancy a freefly etc type jump and you may need to swap out your PC what a great feature, but all the promo stuff says its good to go. Not very intelligent.
  14. Perhaps Ellen should have got some decent deployment/packing coaching as apparently she was constantly in line twists and apparently you turn up to DZ's and wingsuiters are cutting away all the time ;) Nice marketing but not really accurate. 1 cutaway in 2002 and over1500 wingsuit jumps with around 900 jumps on massive suits. Currently flying a Viper largest wingsuit ever built with a Spectre 120. So the messaging is not very accurate if your jumping a non elliptical 7 cell, of which their are plenty out their already suitable for Wingsuiting.
  15. Seriously bad taste. BM Classic for me in 2001 when I made 1st flight it was scary but the innovation of cutaway wings and integration without stitching into your rig made it accessible and safe. We had 3 flying in the Uk at the time and it was a case of read the manual and get out the door. From this all manner of amazinv things have opened up in both skydiving wingsuiting and BASE. It has probably made the public more aware of our sports than any other of our disciplines as its so close to the common dream of human flight. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  16. Hey man like way dude yeah just hang loose like and do what you feel. ETC what a load of crap. Implications of selecting the wrong canopy can be a lot more serious than falling off you BMX. Lousy advice leads to lousy decisions and opens people up to accidents, saying you can compare 3 canopies after 32 jumps is total BS. These forums are supposed to help people learn and discuss, if advice is total garbage its going to get pointed out. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  17. Stryker This is why I advise you demo them and speak to someone you can actually see and trust. Claiming you can compare 3 different canopy's when you have a grand total of 32 jumps which taking AFF and consols out would equate to 14 jumps is ridiculous. If you have 200+ jumps on each then you might be able to give a decent comparison but 14 really, unless your student kit happened to be a very Spectre or S2 or Storm which I doubt, so a massive 32 jumps experience. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  18. Making decisions on others recommendations is not great. Canopys arent cheap so get hold of a demo and fly ot to see which suits you, rather than asking everyone elses opinion which will vary massively. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  19. Rvonburger. Really you think we will all be jumping without rigs and tracking to our landing net. We must be living on different planets. This is a stunt. However if we are all doing this in 2 years I'll buy the beers.
  20. Interesting stunt, but Why? Purely a spectacle or is this going to advance something what are we missing?
  21. Last packed in UK and several repacks before in UK, the AAD is 98 so out of date and no longer usable, the reserve is 96 so 20 years old next year so marginal. last repacked in 2005 so will need thorough inspection and the container size TJN would indicate a 126-139 main canopy. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  22. I am in Bristol tomorrow, so am going to send the seller and email and see if I can find out some more about it. Good spot. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  23. Had to share as just had an exemplary bit of customer service. I used a new company for the first time www.RockSkymarket.com . I wanted a new cookie plate to be able to swap in different camera setup quickly between jumps so ordered a new plate. The plate sent was the new cookie flatlock design and I had the old one which had been shown on their website. On pointing out the issue I got an immediate response and the offer of a complete new flatlock with the additional plate for free, fedexed straight away from Australia. No quibble, just apologies and quick fix at no cost. These guys kept me informed through out and really care about there customers so if you need a great range of goods/services these guys are worth a closer look.
  24. Am sure this will change deployments forever Love it when solution are invented to problems that don't exist Dont just talk about it, Do it!
