  1. Glad you liked it made dealing with the PC every time it crashed worth it. Next time I shall be asking for directed shots as it was difficult to maintain continuity through the film. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  2. It was me, as you'll gather from the end credits if you wait that long, yes about 20 secs. First tried to kick it out then chopped my leg wing and tried some more, then aurm wings to really give it some. But as you can see it was now throughly wound up tight. So I chopped it, 2nd mal in 1000 jumps so not too bad but 2 more than I would of liked. I was watching the Alti and I hit my hard deck so got off it. First jump of the damn boogie too, still got it all back and was jumping again the next day thanks for Andy Fords repack that evening. Makes for nice vid, I have my other mal on video too and that was also my first camera jump. Glad you enjoyed the film. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  3. Glad you like the film VESA but 2.5hrs download I appreciate your commitment, still with current weather there's not a lot else to do. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  4. Anyone who want to see the wingsuit flying from this years Herc boogie, I have put the film on the skydivingmovies.com ftp site. Its 10 mins and 49 mb so pretty big but has a range of sequences which most should enjoy plus my cutaway in the credits section which is quite interesting. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  5. I dont recall Fordy handing that footage in and besides it was an off landing, remarkable how many off landings required full on swoops The Jet sequences works quite nicely. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  6. Hope you all like it, its 49MB and 10mins so sit back and enjoy. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  7. Glad you like, it was pretty difficult putting together as the shots were not planned but a compilation of jumps so giving it some thread was pretty difficult. I think it's not bad but the next time I will insist everyone cleans there lense's, some shot's could not be used as there were bit's of mank on them. There are some very wide shots and the reason is to show the sheer volume of fliers, with a large range of flight skills some of the groups were pretty spread out, but we also have some great tight shots and at the end of the day we are only at the infancy stage of skyflying, so we are all learning. The hardest thing is matching soundtracks effectively to the footage and knowing when to break from the shot, but I think its not too bad, but we'll see how people like it. Thanks for your comments. I hope you enjoyed my mal at the end the swoop by fordy into the bikers. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  8. Spy38w, it was not actually me quoting iceskating stuff as i agree its totally irrelevant to this situation which if you read my post you'll realise not the one above, which actually talks about it by manbird. Anyway aside from that, the best zipper mod I have seen is a simple loop connected to a split ring (key ring type) the loop hooks over your thumb and it works sweet no danger of Velcro wearing out or bungies breaking, just slip off when you unzip the wings its straightforward and if you use elasticated material it is very easy to pull down at pull time without pulling your normal loop for the wing down with it as it stretches off over your thumb easily. Cheers Fraser First let me say that I am not a Birdman, yet. I am planning on going up to Deland for my maiden voyage soon though. I think the ice skating issue, or try spinning yourself in a chair with your arms out vs. in makes sense, but not when compared to the aerodynamic forces that will have more effect than the CG/Arm effect illustrated by the chair/ice skater... just one point of view though. 9. At the Herc Boogie I was fortunate enough to meet an american guy, cannot remember his name but could find it, who was on the very flight you are talking about. I am not going to state the obvious but he told me the following "We did not notice anything which was kinda strange as he walked up to me and asked if I could swap seats with him, I was in the co pilot seat and I said sure, so he walked past me and previously he had not been able to sit in the copilot seat as his rig and the front mounted video recorder were too big to allow him to sit in the seat. This time however he sat down fine and we both passed as I climbed past him.” I am not making any comments but those who believe there safety are in there own hands are right however, we are humans and tend to make mistakes, that’s why a back up is useful. If everything was perfect and canopies containers were perfect and your 100% why have a reserve or AAD because things happen. That’s why we look out for each other. I am all for self preservation by knowing your gear and how to fly, however at the end of the day most accidents are traced back to human error not pure equipment failure. So an extra pair of eyes looking out for you has to be a good thing. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  10. have not been in any radical flat spins to date in my suit however at the 2001 wingsuit festival in Sweden Martin Rosen managed to replicate just this, after going into John loken's burble. Again same as Kim reported balling up took him out of the spin after he had tried everything else. I am an aerodynamic engineer and understand the momentum theory thoughts and increased rotation as the body goes into a ball, however the key here is the direction of the momentum. By tucking up the direction is changed and the momentum does not follow the direction change efficiently hence the spin should dissipate. Ok thats enough train spotter techy stuff for one day. Jope the waethers better in the rest of the world than the Uk. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  11. Two ways you can do this Fordy puts his foot in with his knee outside the line of the suit leg then pops the suit across as he straightens his leg up and it works for him. Personnally i pull all excess slack down from waist etc with legs straight and curl toes up to get in the bootie and then finally keeping tension on the suit pulling it down towards the foot, zip up. keep an eyeopen for stitching pulling away on the bootie if its taught as the fabric on the base of the bootie can tear. Birdman are aware of this, in flight if the bootie comes off its fine to fly as long as the zip is still intact. As for exits otter are nice and easy with bigs doors and once you get happy you can go out in a lot of orientations yoiu just have to remember to keep it all in and remain symmetrical. The hardest to exit was ironically an exit from a Cessna 182 as the step was getting in the way and you had to avoid catching the suit on it. The main thing is not to fight the exit but fly with it, I have used the classica dn Skyflyer and made 200 bird jumps know and never had a problems with exit. Had one cutaway at the herc boogie which was a bit annoying as it stopped me jumpinjg for the day but that was my own fault for not keeping my legs together on deployment and I think assisted the back to tumble a bit. Hope you enjoy the suit. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  12. I meant to say I remained level with the Herc not John, as he went straight up and I was craning my neck to keep him in shot. Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  13. John gets above the HERC, how do i know I was filming him and I remained level with johnfor this shot twice, the best version is in the edit that i shalll be sending out tonight to Craig and over to Birdman. Johns perspective is also in the vid though from a different jump which he did not get so high on. Enjoy Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  14. Currently burning into MP2 format before sending out, also being very good and getting permision for all the sound tracks just so its legal once it goes on the web. Let you know shortly all details. Cheers Fraser
  15. I put mine in my socks by my ankle seems to get clean air and provide good data. Cheers Fraser Dont just talk about it, Do it!
  16. I filmed John Loken on two incredible exits and one of the shots was nominated in the HP film comp at the boogie very cool footage, i shall be posting some stills from the sequence when i get round to it. Plus some MPegs but I just moved house after getting back from the boogie so got to reconstruct everything before any geeking.
  17. How long is a piece of string, different countries have different policies and were there is no policy it is dependant on individual jumpers experience, currency and overall ability. With the number of recent post from people looking at buying Skyflyers as a first wingsuit the number of jumps and currency is likely to be very important. The traditional guideline from Birdman was 500 on your own after reading the manual and fewer if taken up by a BMi however if Jari is about he may clarify this. But to be honest it all depends on ability, it like asking how many jumps to sit or head or 4way or CRW. Cheers Fraser
  18. I jump a Samurai the airlocked canopy from Brian Germain, Brian designs it PD manufacturers it i have jumped both the Vengeance and Sam and prefer the Sam, sweet opening and great surfs overall the canopies are quite similiar slightly flatter glide and higher recovery arc for swoops on the Sam I jump at 1.75 on a Sam 105 and its great. Cheers Fraser
  19. No cost released yet, but you might have to pay two slots for taking up so much space in the plane and having to mod the aircraft door to let you in and out! :) Seriously though at what point does the skyray become a hangglider?
  20. Craig, I have found whether your exiting on your left right, backwards sitting or standing that once you drop out the AC if you angle your body as you would in a side slide you can clear the aircraft and inflate your wings very quickly and safely without having to wait ages, obviously do what your comfortable with and be aware when you jumping a new ac the best way, the most fun todate was exiting a C182 in NZ and working my way over the wheel step without catching or hitting anything. Cheers Fraser
  21. I got a Classic II second hand and have made about 90 jumps on it now as far as performance goes it flies very nicely and I can stay with GTi flyers and skyflyers alike without them having to slow down dramatically. Those people I know who have gone straight to the GTi have had no problems under the proper instruction, but the classic is still very good and by all accounts there is very little between the two, obviously this is dependant on flying skills. Skyflyer very soon:). Cheers Fraser
  22. After the mutiple threads on landing wingsuits etc etc here is a guy who has planned to land on ski's this winter check out the details.http://www.digitaldog.co.nz/wingsuit.html If he's out there or anyone knows this guy lets hear from him, I be interested to know his forward downward speed, and I am sure craig will wont any GPS readings stats etc :) Cheers Fraser
  23. In short none, I only have 80 wingsuit jumps but have never had any problems with deployment, I know you can have the corners moded on the container to make a straight release on deployment, but I have not had a need for this. A longer bridle may be reccommended and certainly if I was basing with a wingsuit this would be be a definite mod plus of course a bigger PC but that goes without saying for BASE. Other than that had no needs to Mod anything. Cheers Fraser
