  1. Has better pin protection than anything listed so far. Mine is above and beyond more comfortable than my Vector III, both rigs were new and built to my dimensions. My Racer 2k3 included magnetic riser covers at the base price, less than $1500 new. Reserve packing wise, both are easy.
  2. IIRC (as it was before my time) Scott Miller took a PD Navigator to a swoop contest and didn't place last.
  3. As far as S-Fly, I don't think they're worthwhile. As far as Alien, I don't think they're currently worthwhile because they're new (and expensive). Alien hasn't had time to refine their wingsuits or manufacturing process yet ... PS: If this is not a concern for you then you could add their beginner wingsuit to the list. The Alien Suit I saw in November had pretty bad stitch work. Areas like trailing edge of the tail should be double needed, it was, but it was two distinct passes with a single needle and it was no where near straight and clean. Considering their price, this should not be. It was also heavy as sin.
  4. We're in more than 4, kind of misleading title. We're also in Djibouti, almost went there a couple years ago for work.
  5. Fifth attachment point for more security.
  6. Nitro Rigging isn't listed as a vendor for Skydive Expo, that's a shame considering Nitro Rigging is in Deland.
  7. Which eliminates the "oh today I am going to jump in this or that mode" malfunction. There have been several incidents/unwanted fires due to bad mode selection. And this is purely operator error. Similar vein, you can't fix stupid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=detSZl23Blw
  8. Unless something's changed, you can send your AAD to SSK (in the states or Airtec in EU) and they'll change the mode for free plus shipping or a nominal charge.
  9. Students have managed to have student models fire even under big dopey lightly loaded student canopies. Moving on... I wasn't there and, hell, it happened before I started skydiving. But look up Steve Harrington's death. His AAD still managed to fire, a Cypres. The incident is in an issue of Parachutist around March or April 2010. As to his build and the suit he flew, I have no idea, others in this thread may know. And on the opposite side of the coin, look up Adrian Nicholas and his death due to a Cypres firing low.
  10. FAA's ratings are Senior Parachute Rigger and Master Parachute Rigger; plus Designated Parachute Rigger Examiner (DPRE) which is a Master Parachute Rigger that can examine people for Senior or Master ratings. Basically... Seniors can inspect, make minor repairs, assemble, and repack certificated systems of the type they are rated for. Masters can do the above plus make alterations and major repairs, things that can affect the airworthiness of components of the types they are rated for. Like harness work for instance. They hold ratings of at a minimum of two parachute system types. Note I said type in both cases, there are four types of parachute system types recognized by the FAA: back, seat, chest and lap. You should check out the "so you want to be a rigger" topic pinned at the top of this sub forum as it will give some more insight into this. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=585697;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Also, the MOST important of all of this is if you have to use your reserve, you pay the rigger who packed your reserve save a bottle of booze of their choosing.
  11. That looks like someone cut up some spare pair of boxer shorts.
  12. FAA Airman database: https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/airmeninquiry/ Mind you, people can omit themselves from the public database.
  13. Wind Jacket or the Monster Dogs would do you fine. Thanks! I will look into both. Be aware that the more severe your near sightedness is, the more difficult it is to use wrap around or highly curved designs. If I recall correctly, Oakley won't cut lenses for frames with more than a slight curve for prescriptions -3.50 or stronger. I have greater than -4.00 in both eyes and I could only source flat frame designs from them. The reasoning for this: you get massive fishbowling in the lenses that makes trying to see a pain in the ass. Edit: You may want to look at Wiley-X, Revision Eyewear, or ESS as they make prescription carriers that sit between the goggle and your face. I mention these as an option as they are all approved eyewear providers for the US military and they have developed and proven these systems. Example: http://www.revisionmilitary.com/rxcarrier.html
  14. Just an observation: In places like the US & Canada we have nothing like a Harness/Container logbook, so any mods or repairs to the rig are undocumented. That's not ideal. we dont have a HnC log here wither, but any repairs or mods are noted on the Packing card. The problem with that at least in the US is that the packing card goes with the reserve ultimately, which leaves you with the conundrum of what do you if the reserve is detached from the harness/container?
  15. I want whatever drug you're consuming, because it must be some good shit.
  16. +1 I was wearing multicam in country way before it became an issued pattern. I think you're being silly.
  17. Based on guscabana's post, there are some new ones with EIS. Were you able to see these? The CX190/200/210 that is.
  18. I cede to DSE, I don't jump Handycam or stills, I just know OIS is frowned upon. Sorry.
  19. stratostar: I recognized Palatka's landing area in the pictures and noticed that the seller is listed in Jax, this accurate? If so, I'm interested.
  20. Military had cannons even 300 years ago - you're arguing against a false premise. Ordnance != arms for the purpose you're trying to discuss. Basic accuracy is comparable between mil/civ versions of battle rifles. The infantryman has *some* advantage with burst/auto fire, not an overwhelming one. Civ force has advantages in long-range rifle fire (deer rifles). You beat me to the punch. One of the scariest weapons to encounter is a long range precision rifle and its wielder. It can be used to selectively pick and choose who will die.
  21. Have me beat by 1 year age difference. She's 12 years my senior. Going on almost 2 years dating now.
  22. Everything Sony has announced is OIS (from my reading of the press releases). Panasonic has a cam with EIS. Samsung's press release doesn't mention either way. Stills wise, haven't really paid attention.
  23. Contact Jump Shack and they can custom make any length you want.
