  1. yeah.. it indeed creates a huge distraction even after 200 jumps.. I myself was filming stuff inside the airplane and after a guy opened the door I realized i hadn't closed the chin strap. I wasn't exiting yet but it indeed shocked me that I hadn't closed it after I put it in my head. I think a friend exited with chin strap undone with camera and closed it in free fall when he was starting filming.. Nothing potentially fatal really but a good example of the distraction the camera creates, there's no way that would happen with normal helmet.
  2. if you have camo rig, why not use camo in pants? I'd take 4 with camo instead of ugly yellow/orange/whatever that is.
  3. Acctually, i often take my keys with me. That's because during winter time we drive(1km) to the airport and then drive back. But i keep them in the inside pocket acctually.. =) No jump tickets in use at our dz. But that is a valid point. Lens cap, mobile phone, earplugs, i keep them all in the outside pocket for ease of access with a rig on.
  4. definately cordura on knees and bum. I don't think you'r going to need extra inside pocket. I would suggest a cargo pocket of some sort(outside pocket) instead, you can fit much more stuff there and it's more easily accessible. I hardly can think of use for one inside pocket, I just keep my power tool there. :D I have a pocket on thigh for mobile phone. some kind of low rise or variation is more comfortable. I suggest spandex, i have some polycotton collar with velcro on my other suit and I hate it, gives me rash after a busy day. black can get hot but it's a great choise for obvious reasons. :)
  5. i have both raynox 30xx and opteka 0.3 and raynox is way less wide. Would work on tandems i guess and you could zoom with it if it is too wide for you.
  6. it's exactly the same camera but without internal memory.
  7. How much did it cost? A pic where the box is mounted would be nice.
  8. that might be an issue with your tv's preferences then.
  9. are your codecs up to date?
  10. have you tried asking the manufacturer
  11. I use tonflys 105/100 box. needs a new hole for mounting and making new heading fixing pin(super glued screw works for me). Worth the price i think, I think it's quite big but works fine with top mount at least.
  12. I have a cookie flatlock. not really, but it doesn't take long to take the camera off.
  13. They don't cause bag locks, if you packed a bag lock it is less likely to clear itself by breaking the stow. Haven't seen single baglock at my small dropzone and majority of people use tubes.
  14. It's not just the hole in the slider. Ever wondered why sabre1(for example) tends to open fast? It's the whole design.
  15. Didn't quite realize it was that strong. I remember looking at the mount and thinking it was kind of a snag hazard but then just tought that tape would give up easily. Seems I was wrong. I myself have a sony cx150 mounted in a top mounted box. Will take it on it's first flight next weekend.
  16. The line snags may not be such a big deal when the camera and base are kept in its place by 2 sided tape. (Not saying it's ok to fly a camera too soon, I just bought mine and haven't yet jumped it)
  17. It takes time to get to the terminal speed of certain flight mode. Should you do a fast turn the duration of the turn is slower and it doesn't necessarily have the time to get to the speed. Keeping it in the dive longer lets you take advantage of the gravity fully. It takes 8 to 10 seconds to get to terminal speed in free fall(just a guess, correct me if you know better numbers), for example, and the same idea applies here. Of course the terminal velocity would be lower so it doesn't take so long.
  18. CX110 and 150 would be this year models of sony's flash memory handcams. They are very similar to cx100 by its features, there are only slight improvements, so if you can find cx100 cheap, it will be a good choise too. I just bought cx150 for myself. The only difference between 150 and 110 is the internal memory, which 110 doesnt have and 150 has 16GB. If you use a box made for cx100, you have to drill a new hole for bottom screw as it is a bit closer to rear end of the camera, but isn't really a big deal i think. I also made a new pin(which fixes the cameras heading) from a same sized screw and it works fine.
  19. I too agree that if one paid the full price, the helmet should be as expected.. If the scratches and marks would be ok, one would've bought a second hand helmet.. But I think the quality and protection of Z1 is so poor anyways I won't be using one.. I bought one used, and sold it shortly afterwards.
  20. most definitely not. most likely not. But I have to say I don't know.
  21. You can set it so that it's always on. I think at default it turns off 14 hours after the last jump and you have to turn it on by clicking some button. Check the manual for instructions on how to change the setting.
  22. What's wrong with the PRO Duo cards? I hadn't heard anything. Lots of more SD cards are made than Pro Duo sticks... Makes them cheaper.
  23. is there really a need to make a new thread for those..
  24. You seriously think it's ok in that case?
