  1. Out of pure curiosity the following questions.......anyone know exactly what type of material they are using for the wing? How large does it pack compared to that of a competition velo? What sizes will they offer it in? Or will PD scale and build the size you request. Recommended WL? Any idea what price point it will be at? Ian Drennan perhaps could enlighten us all? Or will everyone have to wait to find out until PIA 2013 in March or perhaps even later through their local CP guru? The "Schumann wing planform technology" is essentially the tail being straight/flat therefore allowing it to create more lift at speeds? Or am I totally off and my googling skills just that shitty? hah For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  2. So this canopy is apparently a strictly competition canopy ONLY? They recommend only sub-terminal deployments. Also from what it sounds like this is by INVITATION only? Is this due to the fact that they want people purchasing their Competition Velocity canopies prior as they put quite a bit of money into research and development and is still relatively new? Or perhaps they simply feel that only the comp velo can prepare you for this canopy. Thoughts? Are canopies becoming like elite exclusive credit cards or high tier frequent flyer programs that are by invitation only? http://www.performancedesigns.com/peregrine_info.asp & http://www.performancedesigns.com/peregrine.asp Side note....the logo looks similar to the Koenigsegg's CCXR no? haha For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  3. Just to correct the figures.... They are actually building a 16.5 ft wind tunnel out at SD2 (desert DZ) which is still the world's largest, but by only 0.5ft and a planned opening in March. The NEXT wind tunnel that they plan on building will be located at the palm DZ, which from what I've heard will be 22ft in diameter. Also, despite the fact that even their previous boogie requirement being a minimum of 500 jumps AND D license there were still about 5 or 6 people that landed in the ocean during their winter fest boogie. So yea, they are slightly hesitant to drop it to anything below a C-license. Indyz....spot on $30 USD or 110 Dirham from the palm depending upon the route they choose to take. 4. Here is a picture of my setup at the moment. BASE rig isn't packed so I didn't jam it in there and have to rearrange things inside... tight fit but it works. My G3 helmet does not fit inside with 2 rigs so I just put my ROK in the black sack just for ya to see how everything looks inside. Under the wing suit (red/white bag) is my jumpsuit and under my weight belt is some clothes and accessories + gloves Also on the side of the case it has a location for you to engrave your name and address in case it does ever get lost or go missing. In terms of overweight I don't pay since I'm a Gold member for star alliance which has a limit of 70lbs per bag, of which I've never exceeded. United charges $100 per bag over 50lbs so long as it doesn't exceed 70lbs In terms of locks just buy some locks that have the TSA approved logo and no hassle whatsoever. Just make sure you buy the wire locks as the hard ones won't fit. Pictures below and YES, I'd highly recommend the Pelican 1650 you can't go wrong unless being overweight (50-70lbs) range is a huge concern for you. 7. When I was looking into gear bags as well I thought the same as you, protecting my rig when under hundreds of pounds of weight when traveling such as checking in on planes. Personal opinion is that there is nothing better than a Pelican Case. Weighs 20lbs (1650 model) empty, but is water tight, dust proof, crush proof, and simply rock solid build. Largest size Pelican you can buy for checking in without being oversized as airlines have a maximum 63 linear inches policy. Mind you with that much gear you WILL be over weight, so being a frequent flyer on a specific airlines helps you to avoid overweight fees. Fits my BASE and skydiving rig along with jumpsuit, wing suit, weight belt, gloves, spare clothes and accessories. Helmet I have a case that I always carry on board with. Hope ya find what you are looking for! For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  8. Prices are not so absurd for them. Slightly over 17% of Singaporean's are millionaires or 1 in 6 are millionaires. http://blogs.wsj.com/searealtime/2012/06/01/singapore-no-1-for-millionaires-again/ http://www.bethetop5percent.com/2012/1105/singapore-is-1-for-millionaires-again/ For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  9. Yes, that is correct. Usually everyone has to come to Thailand to jump or the next closest DZ in Australia. Apparently there is a lot of response and feedback so they have opened another option for tandems which is $999 SGD or $820 USD to do a tandem and one flight in the tunnel. Also new news is that D licensed skydives may also jump during these 2 days and land on the beach in singapore, but costs $2,400SGD for the helicopter load to 10k for 3 people. 10. $1,388 SGD or $1,130 USD for package 1 $2,588 SGD or $2,120 USD for package 2 I wonder how many people will actually show up for this!? I guess since it's such a speciality jump and granted they do throw in some tunnel time, but still very pricey! Available Packages for the tandem skydive for mass public on 15th dec and 16th dec over the duration of the indoor Skydiving World Championships! 15. Have tried it with a modern system just a few months ago. Used it while I was in a tracking suit and my friends were in wing suits. We were able to communicate well enough and was able to "pick" me up for a rodeo first try. Tried it on a Freefly jump but was almost useless as there was too much noise despite the volume being maxed out. Under canopy was great and clear though. Also was able to listen to the radio on some jumps too. (Speaker was only in one ear) For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  16. Huge event happening at Elsinore from March 16-30th called FlajFlaj 2013. Essentially it's a Swedish/Norwegian Freeflying and angle camp only (no belly) open to all skill levels, but just be sure to hurry up and pre-register as I think it closes at the end of this month. Although I think the camp might be full by now, but worth asking just in case. Last year there was only 1 day out of 2 weeks of jumping that we got weathered out.....aka perfect! I was there last year and had about 80 people in the camp and averaged 40-50 loads everyday during that time. 2 twin otters and a caravan. Most people averaged 70 jumps within those 2 weeks. https://www.facebook.com/events/273755766074065/?fref=ts The price for Flajflaj 2013 is split into two currencies to avoid problems with changing exchange rates. For Flajflaj 2013 the price is 7750SEK AND 1690USD This gets you: -All coaching and organizing during the event (minimum 10 one on one jumps during week one and A LOT of organized jumps during week 2) -50 jump tickets (additional jump tickets at discounted rate, 21USD) -12 nights of accommodation in the bunk house (Hotel upgrade possible upon request) (Bunk house availability is 25 beds, first come first served) -¼ of a rental car during the entire camp (rental car value up to 700USD) -Canopy coaching with dedicated canopy coaches -Access to team rooms for video debriefing and the possibility to leave gear over night -Weekly videos, party's and the freefly experience of a life time :-) Contact Peter Nilsson to register at [email protected] For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

  18. Unfortunately no full time/active DZ's in Indonesia. Your next best/closest bet will be Bangkok with 2 DZ's (re)/opening soon or 1 DZ in Northern Thailand open now, (hard to get to though) Indonesia has some competition events held roughly once or twice a year right outside jakarta from a CN235 & sometimes C130's with only 40ish people inside.....!! All competing 4 way FS. I think 90% of the teams that compete are military so you kind of have to know someone or be in the military of some sort to be "invited/qualified" Feel free to pm me if you want any additional info For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  19. Unfortunately there are no currently full time open dropzones in South East Asia other than 1 in Northern Thailand at the moment. Unless you get to know people that is..... I've found that many army people are quite nice and inviting and more than welcome to do some "training jumps" with them free of charge provided you have enough experience. 20. Politics, under the table money, and which people you know has a lot to do with things around Thailand, but will let ya know if I hear anything about it. 21. Guess no one is going, that's cool I'll hog all the organizers to myself! Anyone find it a bit intriguing regarding the fact that this boogie is 500jumps & D license only? Never have heard of such a boogie with such high requirements. At first I thought it was due to the landing area current construction at SD1, but was told that it should be completed before the end of December. Does this also mean that SD2 will follow the same requirement during the boogie and no organizing going on at SD2? Regardless, sounds like one hell of a boogie! Was really hoping that a few friends of mine could join in, but apparently can not due to the requirements. 23. The next warmest & closest place for you that I could think of would be Skydive Dubai during that time frame. Shoot them an e-mail and see if they could provide that for ya. It's quite the international DZ with talent pulled from all over the world and I could only assume that they would have someone qualified there to assist you with your ratings. 24. Could this possibly mean that the GoPro 3 Black edition will be phasing out the Sony CX cameras for us skydivers & even videographers perhaps for tandems? (video only not pictures) Obviously they used to be 2 completely separate categories, but now that fine line seems to be blending/merging ever so quickly. 25. I'm not sure what JM1 and CH2 is, but I'm sure you could do that at Skydive Empuriabrava in Spain (closest and WARMEST to the UK that I can think of during that time frame) as I'm sure there are many people knowledgable about BPA there as well as qualified instructors.
