Place to jump near Sofia (Bulgaria) and Valencia (Spain)

Not a problem - in slow flight, both engines throttled back, the 45 degree rule "should" apply. As long as your pilot friend can fly straight and level. Maybe the same probability as hitting the tail of a King Air B90, follow similar procedures and cautions. I made a couple of no suiters, just a pair of shorts, from Ed O'Brien's (D1123) 337 N2617F (at Morningstar Beach USVI) back in '83. You may have seen a previous post of mine on the same subject. Have fun, you'll love it.

Does anyone know who this is? An old friend in South Africa is asking, now I'm curious too.

Take your own gear. You'll probably enjoy jumping onto a tropical beach from an Mi8 or An-2.

Have you ever jumped with the notorious, or famous?
jimp replied to hardarch's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Well, I didn't actually jump with him, but Felix Baumgartner was the pilot of the helicopter used at competition in Germany I entered last summer (Ecureille B3-B OE-XBF). -
Jumping in Astana and Almaty if he's in either of those places.

Some years ago I crewed on a Carvair (appropriately registered as C-GAAH). Got to fly it too, but never got to jump it.

Your biggest problem will be getting stuck behind hundreds of old geezers driving slow moving Winnebagos going the same direction you are. That might not be a bad thing - the price of gas is $6.00 a gallon or more, you'll get better mileage at slower speeds. Have a great trip!

Contact Barry Cyr at www.skydivebc.ca Check the calendar for August, it looks like he will be in Carcross 15 to 27 August. It's a fairly laid-back operation centered on fun and comradeship; you'll have fun. Maybe you did your tandems with him on one of his previous trips? Ummm.. where are you in YT??

Rode the plane up with Lew Sanborn
jimp replied to Bignugget's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Back in '99 at the World POPS meet in Chilliwack I was on a 4-way scrambles team with Lew and Harry Leicher (and another guy - name I can't remember). We came 5th. He'd only been jumping for about fifty years at the time. A great skydiver and a terrific guy. -
http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/1767.shtml And go here. Gear is no problem - Nutzi can fix you up with a rental. A wonderful friendly small club atmosphere. And the view on the ride to altitude in the Airvan with its picture windows is just divine!

Sad news. Shirley was (also) very active in the Christchurch skydiving scene in the '60s. Newbies like me all looked up to her.

There is also the Skydive Dubai desert dropzone for those taking aff and those who do not meet the 200 jump requirement for the Palms. Call the number on the website, some one should be happy to give you the information you need about Christmas activities.

Round canopies and county specific rules and laws?
jimp replied to anj4de's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The clip was recorded at Loginovo drop zone near Yekaterinburg Russia, so I expect they employ the Soviet made version (PPK 3) of the Czech KAP 3. (Gotta love that An2!) jim -

On the last pass the PPK 3 is set for 3 seconds (love that radial engine rumble!)
