  1. Theory: They wanted footage of her sitting near the open door by herself, before she was hooked up to the tandem master. So she needed her own rig for safety in case she fell out. And then once that task was done and the door closed, they removed the student rig and hooked her up to the tandem master for her jump. thanks for the answer my roommates and i were asking that exact question.
  2. according to the DZO it will cost total around $1500 for this new program which is about $400 more where it used to be which was around $1100 **these are rounded numbers to keep it simple and with gear rental My math: it used to be: [(27+25)*16]+(115*2) = 1062 i do not know the math for the new program but just subtract
  3. This corse as related to money is only $400 more total to get your A license that is however with renting gear didn't do the math without renting gear. I jump there and have done the math because i was wondering this as well. so for $400 more you get coaching. the coach jump is going down pay is going down. they have been trying to get more coaches on staff so the students will not be waiting around for prolonged periods of time. also they are getting more rigs for students to again prevent them from sitting around on the ground. also i believe it is 2 full jumps number 8 & 9 and 1 hop & pop number 10 5 canopy course hop & pops and the rest are coach jumps 3 or 4 way jumps as the last 2 jumps (2 coaches 1 student [don't have to pay for the second coach DOZ covers that] or 2 coaches 2 students) the canopy corse is included in the total price.
  4. Reasons why i love boulder: Beer Location, location, location I love boulder came out here for college and if i could afford living here i would but i have to move just out side of it after i graduate. on a different note my roommate got a ticket for climbing one of the flat irons the day they were put off limits and got ticketed but got off with 24 hrs of community service.
  5. here is a really good video of both it's of Bear Grylls performing a cut away you just have to click on the parachute malfunction button down the page http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/man-vs-wild-survival-101/
  6. see it depends where you live. here in colorado there is a micro brewery a stones throw away in every direction (most micro brews in the nation) but if you can get it i would recommend just going out and trying them all you will find exactly what you like me i like Avery's White Rascal http://www.averybrewing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51&Itemid=75
  7. first of all my roommates and i talk about this all the time. we have a zombie apocalypse and a red dawn plan. i would go with a machete because you can have one in each hand and they can put people into the ground just as easily as a katana if it is real sharp. maybe i would have 1 machete and a combat ax something like this http://sogknives.com/store/F06T-N_fasthawk.html
  8. where did you find that and it depends on which i see first
  9. Talking about your stamina is being sensitive... sensitive to her physical sensitivity
  10. So a few of us are planing on going out to Lodi for spring break next week and we are worried about the weather at this time and not being able to jump because of rain. i was wondering what people think about it and if we should just go and not be worried about the rain?
  11. I grew up in NY and i would say don't move to Manhattan if you don't have a job lined up it's crazy expensive. i would move to Queens or Brooklyn.
  12. personally i think that knowledge of your gear and knowing how long it takes for it to open is very important. also you can't control what people do however you can recommend what to do through experience. I know my personal canopy takes around 1000 feet to open (icarus omega) and knowing this i like to wave off at around 4000 feet knowing that i will probably have my pilot chute out around 3500'. i have also created a hard deck for my self at 2000' giving me 1500' to make a decision to keep my canopy or to get rid of it. now i am just over 100 jumps so i feel comfort know my limits. Limits is something that should be stressed more then min deployment alts. i know my personal limits and abiding by them keeps me safe. now this is not to say that i will not go lower. for my 100th jump i led a tracking dive and deployed around 3000' but i knew that i was going to deploy that low and i understood and was prepared for a malfunction but personally i don't do that often because i know my personal gear skill level and i know my limits and i plan on jumping for years to come so i live by these guidelines and those should be stressed more then trying to tell people when and where that are allowed to pull

TM "no" Student "are you down to DTF?" TM "ummm.... wait what?" Student "are you down to DTF?" a few min latter TM "ok sit on my lap" Student "With pleasure" when they landed she again asked "are you DTF?" he walked away
