  1. A spine specialist might advise you to rest and avoid any strenuous or impact activities over the next few weeks or until symptoms resolve. They might also tell you that heat/ice and ibuprofen may help..... if symptoms persist or get worse x-rays or other imaging may be necessary. Either way you should refer to your PCP (primary care physician/provider). *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  2. Again +1 *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  3. +1 funny how in 5 or 6 posts it goes to a camera witch hunt, and by the end, the guy hasn't got the basic skills to skydive. +1 I see nothings changed with those camera witch hunts.... only gotten worse. Oh well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzdXoFJbQ0c&feature=g-upl&context=G2748bbbAUAAAAAAADAA *I am not afraid of dying... 4. Yeah F that guy too!!! He actually believes that the shadows from the planes and canopies are stunting the growth of his 'organic' crops. For those that don't know... he also keeps cutaways that land on his property. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  5. I'd jump somewhere else. I agree. But having said that, I have to add that after giving this issue some more thought I now stand at a point that says: - Having a structured progression program has GOT to be a good thing overall. -I'm still reluctant to agree with the costs associated with meeting the requirements of having to have paid Coach jumps. $$$$OUCH$$$$ While I agree that it is too pricey... I gotta say, so far I mostly hear the students giving good feedback on the structured progression. *I am not afraid of dying... 7. Does anyone here happen to do Lasar hair removal? If so please let me know.... I have questions regarding the machines and procedure. Also interest in anyones experience/opinions on it. thx! *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  8. Here's another... a vid of me using the same technique on my old canopy... I initially tried kicking out of the twists but kept twisting up. I then used my hands to twist the risers, taking the twists out of the lines. From there I pretty much automatically spun out of the twists. Technique is at the very begining of the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-FoTdfQ8FM *I am not afraid of dying... 10. Turning is easy once you get the rest stable. It'll just come to you. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  11. It can be frustrating... My best advice is "90's" When starting to learn keep everything below the waist at 90 degrees: hips, knees, feet/ankles. Keep your arms in what ever position is comfortable for you. The only time I bend or put my elbows at 90 or more degrees is if I really want to speed up in my sit or for taking docks. You will eventually find that it is much better to make your sit 'smaller' to speed up or catch up than it is to stand. Learning how to move forward is also important to learn early on. Keep your arms straight and put them just behind you, then bring your knees a bit closer together and put your feet out in front of your knees, this will give you forward motion while facing forward. Learning how to 'side-slide' is also a great way to gain horizontal distance but that is something best learned later on. I used to be anti-tunnel, but I've learned that it is a great tool for learning how to be precise in your sit. Also, tunnel coaches will rarely lead you astray with their advice. So, if you have access to a tunnel it is $ well spent in perfecting your sit. Good luck! *I am not afraid of dying... 12. I've heard good things about the Pulse... but I've heard better things about the Safire2. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  13. I've heard a few people say that. I have a hard time believing that g-forces can be accelerated high enough under canopy, as to not allow the average jumper to lift (or especially) flex their arms enough to reach their cutaway. Until I see or read proof... I call BS. For those who knew the gentleman please forgive me, but i cant rememebr his name. A guy was jumping one of the ultra small canopies a few years ago (46ft i think), direct deployed off the door, He had line twists, he spun a couple of times, within about 2 or 3 revolutions he had blacked out. Unfortunately he spiralled in and died There is a thread on here somewhere about it . I believe the one your thinking about happened in Tennessee... I jumped with the DZO who knew him and told me the story as well. I don't think he ever intended to land that canopy, and the plan was to chop it from the get go... but as you said, he ended up in line twists after deploying from a hop & pop and blacked out nearly right away. *I am not afraid of dying... 14. That's not entirely true... with no engine you cannot accelerate without losing a level flight path. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  15. A plane with no engine only gets once chance to land. With NO acceleration corrections, the pilot has to be spot on. If at 3k it looks like the plane may not make it back to an actual designated landing strip... I'm out. *I am not afraid of dying... 16. In other words... jumper 2 is a moron who did no homework and jumper 1 got some quick education. It's still just another analogy. There's no reason why jumper 2 can't be as safe as jumper 1. It's all about the individual and the steps they take to educate themselves in becoming a more aware jumper. Taken the right steps, camera flier 2 can be just as safe as flier 1 and vice versa. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  17. I'll say thanks on behalf of everyone, and you'd be right on the tunnel time....
  18. Yes, but pulling handles and stuff while make memories for us when we will be old farts like half the age of Twardo, and we will have more interesting things than "remember when in 2012 XXX jumper got his feelings hurt by the DZO..." to write in the "scary old stories" thread *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  19. yeah I fixed that, but some of it, like the hybrid sting footage was still before the fix. I agree it is pretty irritating. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  20. just another f'n SKYDIVING video :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-FoTdfQ8FM&hd=1 **no camera jumpers were harmed in the making of this video *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  21. I tend to get PM's mostly from people who want to tell me they agree with me... but just don't want to be seen doing so in public. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  22. No, he's right. This website has long since outlived its usefulness with proper education. Agreed... While you can still find some useful information here, too many threads end up this way and it's truly PATHETIC!! Ultimately dz.com is for entertainment only. These guys that run around here that seem to think they are the only one's worthy of commenting on posts, belittling other posters, etc... are a joke. As for the topics in this thread.... The OP f'd up and put it here for discussion/learning purposes and now he regrets it, and you can't blame him. As for 'pulling someones reserve handle' to reprimand them, it is a completely childish action. Any/all dz issues should be able to be resolved with a 'talking to' by a qualified employee of the dz. If not, ban the jumper. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

  24. I'm sure more details will come out. -How many people were on the load? -Did he in fact have a new canopy? -Was he on manifest as a high-pull? -Did he frequently board the plane with loose straps? Unfortunately the 2 most logical explanations for "the chest strap was completely undone while the leg straps were at their maximum slack" seem to be: intentional or complete noncompliance. The chances of a jumper falling out of a properly routed and cinched harness is next to none.... I can see the chest strap being "completely undone" if it was accidentally misrouted... but the leg straps loosening to "their maximum slack"?? I could shake my empty rig in the wind for an hour straight and the leg straps are not going to loosen to their maximum slack. I don't know man.... really I'm just wondering what exactly happened like everyone else. Either way it's a very unfortunate incident. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
