  1. I buy a lot of "organic" fruits and veggies, but I don't really care about the label so much...as if a certifying body gives it legitimacy. Love buying at the farmer's market or going out to the farm and buying. Can't wait until I can start gardening again, temporarily a short term renter "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. These are all findings of fact by the trial court, it appears, and so not at all likely to be reconsidered on appeal. This at least alleges a misinterpretation or misapplication of law, which could potentially be the basis for a successful appeal. I don't mean to say that it would or will be successful, but at least it goes to a potentially appeal able point. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. Well, speed limits aren't enforced so what do you expect. More like they chose not to enforce any drug laws, despite obvious flagrant public use. Probably because we were tourists, (predominantly) white, and spending a lot of money in the city. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. I was in Chicago all weekend this past weekend. No gun, walked everywhere the entire weekend (5+ miles per day, easily). Saw no violence at all. Saw illegal behavior almost everywhere I looked, but no violence. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. I have quite a few rigs w/ Spectra ripcords that I repack. It really is not difficult to get the Spectra ripcord back though. Yeah, sometimes it takes a couple tries, but not a problem. I would not tie something around it, as it is not a big enough problem to solve and the solution may be worse than the problem. I am w/ FCAjumps, I tend to be conservative and the metal ripcords have such a good record and such well known parameters that I would personally be in no hurry to jump a Spectra reserve ripcord. 6. Well without having the manual in front of me, and without pretending to answer the question definitively but just to add one more piece of information--I believe the UPT manual states that the correct pull force for their reserves should be between 8 and 15 pounds. If my memory is correct if would imply that they are internally consistent because adding the seal would still keep it legal, I assume (without any testing). Just for the record, I've always considered the low recommendation of 8lb. to be awfully low. I would repack a reserve that tested at 8 lbs. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. The number of insured has increased ~16.5 million since ACA was passed, according to the numbers I have seen quoted. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Well, it won't make soccer exciting for you, but this is indeed A step (many more needed) towards real change. Think I saw the Swiss prosecutor said Blatter was not a target or their investigation (which doesn't mean he isn't a cooperating witness or an unindicted co-conspirator, to say nothing of the US investigation, which hasn't said either way). 12. As long as it is a consensual encounter and the person agrees to give up that information it is fine. I personally don't interact with cops unless I am being detained. They have to have a legal reason to detain me. At that point I let them know I don't answer questions without an attorney. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. All of us are going to die. Some are going to reach a point in life where they are comfortable with that. Others may never reach that point. I am ok with dying. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Wish this thread had an [on topic] tag on it. Fascinating subject without it getting derailed by the usual crap. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Based on what has been released so far, it appears the US arrests were all of officials with CONCACAF and CONMEBOL and are in conjunction with the selling of TV rights and regional tournaments. The US already has plea deals with Chuck Blazer and two of Jack Warner's sons. The organizations involved have offices in the US, so it is both easier for the US to investigate and to assert jurisdiction. The corruption in the awarding of the World Cups for 2018 and 2022 are the focus of the Swiss investigation. Of course the $150 million alleged is peanuts compared to corrupt practices of many business here at home. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. Decreases crime as well...not just drug crime but property crime is down since legalization: http://rapidcityjournal.com/news/opinion/columnists/local/frank-carroll/carroll-legal-pot-making-a-difference-in-denver/article_c29c8960-299e-5511-84ff-22e374de6928.html "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. 1st off, I can write a report too. It doesn't mean it is even close to factually correct. Yes, it only used the official crime statistics, which are actually collected in this case...Facts are stubborn things. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. A 2013 ACLU report noted that on average, a black person is 3.73 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession than a white person," even though blacks and whites use marijuana at similar rates." Such racial disparities in marijuana possession arrests exist in all regions of the country, in counties large and small, urban and rural, wealthy and poor, and with large and small black populations, concluded the report, touted as the first to examine marijuana possession arrest rates by race for all 50 states (and the District of Columbia) and their respective counties from 2001 to 2010. 19. Not really true. Once a case has been decided it cannot be refiled. Legal doctrine is known as res judicata. It can happen that the same plaintiffs can file against the same defendants alleging a different fact pattern. A new set of plaintiffs could file against the defendants with substantially the same fact pattern. The same set of plaintiffs cannot file against the same defendants alleging essentially the same fact pattern. It is a defense MH could make in pretrial motions or it can be something the judge could rule on his own. The plaintiffs will claim they are different plaintiffs and/or are alleging a different fact pattern. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  21. Pretty much all the packers I know use them, including me. Just much easier on your hands to use it, which is important when you are doing nothing but packing rigs all day. All of us CAN pack without them, but why would you when 1. it saves your hands and 2. you have it on you all the time anyway because you are using it when you pack tandems. I'd say ~50% of fun jumpers I know use them, but that is just a shot in the dark figures. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Mine was Can you tell us the circumstances? Were you DUI or otherwise engaged in illegal activity? It is fine if you don't want to. As for the original question, I do not know the numbers. I suspect that there is a larger percentage of alcohol treatment that is self-referred rather than court referred, due to complicated factors like the relatively social acceptability of being an alcoholic vs. a drug addict, the lack of criminal precursors necessary to acquire alcohol, and the ability to access insurance benefits for treatment. There is still a fair amount (but again I don't know the numbers) of court ordered alcohol treatment. Of course my experience is in public health, and people w/ good insurance who self-refer would tend to go through private providers instead of public health. People who are court ordered would tend to go through public health. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. Ending the "War on Drugs" isn't likely to hurt the treatment industry. Addiction will still be around. I mean, alcohol is probably the top substance that people seek treatment for right now, and it's legal. More legal drugs would likely mean more people seeking treatment, though possibly(?) less who would be court-ordered to treatment. Probably not. People who are court ordered to treatment are usually there because their drug use is contributing factor to some other problem (e.g. bar fights, or poor parenting) and not usually an outcome of the drug use itself (although that sometimes happens too). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. You have no idea of that outcome, it's an assumption based on hyperbole. Past is prologue. Interesting comment, Professor. There were North Charleston folks quoted on the news this morning that there have been several police shootings where the suspect was shot in the back. All were declared "justified." None had video. Hmmm. Go figure. In highly charged situations, video is often a good thing. I have heard claims that an irate female smacked her face into the wall enough to leave a mark, then called 911 to say she had been hit. She may well have been hit, but video would have been of great use if she was simply using the authorities as an instrument of malice. Similarly, the procedure, after shouting "HALT!" or "FREEZE!," is (generally) to hold fire unless the opponent either attacks or accesses offensive means (axe, flame thrower, firearm, etc.). If the opponent is facing away and keeps their hands in sight, fine. If they reach for something out of sight, waiting for them to turn around to see what it is can be fatal, and shooting to stop is warranted. In this case, video is critical. If the individual who was shot had their hands in plain sight at all times, the shooting was not justified. If they grabbed for their waist, whether it was to go for a firearm or to divest themselves of some illegal substance, the shooting was justified. In matters of life and death, hearsay is notoriously unreliable - regardless of the source. BSBD, Winsor Meanwhile, a bill introduced in the Texas House of Representatives would make it illegal for private citizens to record police within 25 feet. House Bill 2918, introduced by state Rep. Jason Villalba (R-Dallas) on Tuesday, would make the offense a misdemeanor. Citizens who are armed would not be permitted to record police activity within 100 feet of an officer, according to the Houston Chronicle. Such bills have already been ruled unconstitutional, but it won't top the states from continuing to pass them... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
