  1. I just want to say that you & your daughter are in my thoughts. I think it's wonderful that she is doing so well fighting the lymphoma! I'm so glad she will get to do her tandem
  2. Hi, Bill You are right - people do care.
  3. This was the first American Boogie that my hubby, Steve, & I have been able to attend since 2004. We had such a great time! It was hot out there, but it sure was fun, wasn't it?! I ended up getting 13 jumps in, and Steve got 15. I was aiming for more, but I got a late start on Thursday and then wilted in the heat of Friday afternoon after only getting 4 jumps in. Oh, well, there's always next year!! I didn't get to meet you, Wendy, but wish I had as I read your posts here on dz.com all the time. I did meet Mary (FlyAngel, I think?). Love the zippers in the arms of her RW suit. I've already talked a little to the folks at Action Air about putting some in for me on my Flite Suit. Wonderful idea! Karen P.S. The food was really great! Whoever arranged for the Mexican food booth to be there on Fri & Sat gets an A+ from me!
  4. What a beautiful story! Very touching, and I love the response from Mr. Jennings when asked if he was afraid during the jump: "Your fear goes away," he said of the moment after he jumped from the plane. "Well, remember that it's my first time, but that heart has been through it a hundred times before." What a wonderful tribute to the young woman who died and to her & her family that were so generous in donating her heart! Thanks so much for sharing that! Karen
  5. Steve & I will finally be able to make it to the boogie this year! It's been 3 years since we've gone & we're both really excited about it. We even have Grandma watching our daughter overnight Friday so we can really enjoy ourselves. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Karen
  6. I'm going to jump in here again. Tommy, there was nothing wrong with your post. I understood what you meant, and I don't know you except through the forum and our few emails to try & hook up together to jump. I have friends that are closer to me in my heart than any blood-related family member that I have. My husband is the same. In fact, my husband, toddler, & I are going to spend a portion of the holiday weekend with my family and then spend Christmas day at the home of our very good friends. I find nothing "sad" at all in this, nor in your situation. I wish you & your family a very Merry Christmas! I'm looking forward to our jumps together in the New Year! Blue skies, Karen
  7. Hey, Tommy! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas! And we still need to hook up for some jumps at SkyDance. Let's plan something for 2008!! We were up there this past weekend, and I have a new dive plan for us to try. It's called the 3-way from hell j/k, it's actually a really fun jump with lots of opportunity for each person to fly (& screw up lol) hope to see you soon, Karen
  8. My husband & I love doing this 2-way warm-up dive, which we named "Neal's Drill" after the DZ Manager at Skydance that taught it to us not too long after we got our A licenses. We've been doing this dive for 6 years now . He told us we'd get better the more we did it Ok, so it's a linked exit, one outside, one diving from inside do a closed-left-accordian a right closed accordian back to a round do a left open accordian do a right open accordian back to a round one jumper does a 180deg and the other jumper takes leg grips on them then the jumper that turned does a 180deg back to a round other jumper gets their chance...does a 180deg, and the first jumper takes leg grips 180deg back to a round. It's a simple dive, but both partners get a chance to fly. Blues, Karen
  9. hi there - Are you jumping out at Skydance in Davis? If you are, you are more than welcome to jump with my hubby Steve & I! We almost always do 2 to 4-ways. Nothing fancy, we make up a routine from the 2-20 way formation book and go from there. And if there are others around that want to get in on the jump, then that is great too! We're out at SkyDance at least once a month, sometimes more (depending on babysitter availability :) ), so shoot me an email or PM me when you are going out and we can hook up. Hope to see you soon, Karen
  10. Your babies & you are in my thoughts! Take care, Karen
  11. Cute! How old is your daughter? My daughter is 11mos and we just started "swim" lessons at the local YMCA last month. Babies sure do love the water! Lots of splashing and kicking and smiling. Maybe you could enroll your daughter in a "baby & me" class near where you live. I'll bet she would love it! Karen
  12. Our neighbor has let their dog shit on our lawn for at least a year & we have just cleaned it. A few weeks ago we took the latest poop and placed it all over their driveway so that it wasn't in one tidy pile, but all over instead. Problem solved. Hasn't happened since so I think the message was quite clear!
  13. It wasn't me, but a friend of mine. We were doing a 3-way belly, he was at the tail end of a cold, and he sneezed in freefall. Talk about gross! He was wearing a half-shell Protec and the snot instantly dried all over his face. His new nickname for the rest of the summer was "glaze", as in a 3-day old glazed donut which he bore a remarkable resemblence to when we landed. Karen
  14. After 22 years of marriage, and at age 42, I'm 11 weeks pregnant with our first
  15. kudos to you, Dan! Glad you were able to find the Pro-Track's owner. Hopefully if your lost Dytter ever shows up at SkyDance, someone else will do the same for you
