  1. I cant spell worth shit. LOL I just guessed on the spelling.
  2. If anyone is interested in jumping a terydactyl, there will be one at Skydive Dallas July 19-21. Was very interesting last year. We also had a parafoil and several rounds for anyone to try out. Was cool to see a square, round and triangle parachutes in the air at the same time. Dee
  3. Same here in Tx. Different licenses have different style sequences that you have to perform. For example, D license I believe is a figure 8, front flip, back flip, rt barrell roll, left barrell roll w/in a set time.
  4. I am a younger skydiver so I cant comment on experience. I can tell you though, that there is an older gentleman at our DZ who started jumping less than a year ago. He just does his own thing. He does some hop and pops and some solos and even a few 2 ways. He doesnt feel the need to get into the bigger formations because of his later start and like you said, little bit slower responses. However, he does pull a little higher to make sure that he has enough time for anything. He jumps a nice sized main and does great on landings and he isnt in near the shape that you sound. Overall, he just loves to jump. He lights up whenever he comes out to the dropzone. No, you wont be out competing with the four way teams. But, you could definately participate in a sport that you enjoy. We all have our strengths that we capitalize on and we all have our weaknesses that we compensate for, no matter what the age. If you enjoy it, definately think hard about going for it. D
  5. Try watching your dad, stepmom and brother exiting before you.... LOL
  6. Uh huh, I see how you are. Trying to make a fellow sis feel guilty. It aint working... It aint working It aint working. (if I say it enough, maybe it will be true) It aint working... i dont feel guilty... Nope... ummmm maybe Dee
  7. Seventeen is quite a nice number. The time will also depend on how many rounds they do. Most of them try to do 6, but if weather moves in they will sometimes only do 4. At least, in my limited experience with TSL.
  8. I can't wait. Will he be back Sunday? If he is we need to try and get him then. LOL
  9. I know freaksis... we need to get him and good. After several thousand jumps he deserves to be pied at least once. LOL
  10. Bill, The safire that I am currently jumping, I do not own. My safire is larger. I have the option to buy this safire which I do like, however it was suggested by my rigger and a couple of the instructors that I should demo the stiletto. The one thing about the safire that I do not like as well as some of the other canopies I have jumped is the flare. I had mine modified by hooknswoop and the one I am jumping was modified also, so the flares are better than they were before. I do want more responsiveness while playing up top but dont want to sacrifice the landings. I have been told that the stiletto will offer a little better landing because of the differences in the canopies. Now, I realize that the stiletto is higher performance. I would like to know how much more tho. Stories differ here.
  11. CJ I have actually been jumping a 40 square foot smaller safire since I was up there. Love it a lot better. The stiletto is the same size as the current safire. How is everyone doing? I am hoping to get back up there in August. Who knows tho. LOL
  12. I got started in the sport on a dare. My brother wanted to do a tandem for his 21st birthday. He managed to talk my dad and stepmom into going also. Then he dared me. Being the whole brother/sister thing, How could I refuse? LOL I got a little motion sick in the plane (C-182) but didnt want to go back down. By the time the door opened, I couldnt wait to get out of that damn plane. LOL However, the instant we left the plane, everything was alright. It was the most awesome thing I had ever done. I have been in the sport for 2 years now and moved halfway across the US to jump at a bigger DZ. Yeah, I am hooked. What kept me in the sport was the people. You are simply a skydiver at the DZ, not a doctor, lawyer, clerk or dz bum. We all have a common goal. To enjoy ourselves in a sport that we all love and to share it with others. The changes in skydiving are tremendous. The advancements in containers, canopies, etc and even in the training and skill. I enjoy the aspect of continuously learning. Nothing is stagnant in this sport. There is always something to learn.
  13. When did you guys move up to Paxton? Wow, I didnt realize that. So there is nothing at Rantoul now? Man, how things change when you are gone. Good luck on the riggers ticket. Guess what? I packed my first reserve last week. Only 19 more to go... LOL
  14. I started jumping at Rantoul, does that count?
  15. No, not from the landings. Had one hum dinger of an opening. So hard that it loosened my leg straps and my neck got caught up on the chest strap. Have bruises on the legs and neck. Was so bad that I looked up expecting damage to the canopy and when I landed, very well and in the pees, I had the dz rigger inspect the canopy. Ouchy momma. LOL
  16. Hey CJ How's life up north? How's the school going? Have you gotten your riggers ticket yet? How's the gang there in Rantoul? Catch me up!!! LOL
  17. I am wanting to get a different canopy. I currently jump a safire and have been demoing some others types. I jumped a sabre2 and wont touch one again. (still have the bruises) One of the dz instructors and one of the riggers suggested that I might want to try a stiletto of the same size. And yet another instructor thinks I should wait because I only have 250 jumps. The overall wing loading would be 1.45:1. And have been landing my canopy consistantly. (well, since hooknswoop did the mod to it) I have heard so much about elipticals and am cautious about what to do. Any feedback would be welcome. freeflydeeva

    New Quiz!

    That is hilarious!!
  19. You won't be able to get your money back unless you get a refund. Lenscrafters is the prime example of big adverstising to pull you in and then screw you when you get there. From someone in the optical business, there should be no reason why you shouldn't have had the glasses in a week if they couldnt make them in their house lab. Definately get their regional managers name. Keep going up until you get the service. If they won't provide the name, go to the mall management. All stores in a mall have to provide store manager names and regional manager names. If you create enough noise high enough you will get the service.
  20. Hey gale, from one fast faller to the next. These guys are right. It is hard enough trying to learn how to skydive without making yourself unstable. Let the jumpmasters do the work. They are getting paid for it. LOL A good jumpsuit down the road will help alot. Just make sure to get some opinions from others before you order. I didnt and mine doesnt slow me down enough. Blue skies!
