Nothing personal intended.... as he embarassingly clicks her profile to read: # of jumps: 5 DZ.com posting status: Pooh-bah Coincidence, or some sort of memory imprint? I may have earlier looked at your profile, but I REALLY did not even think about it/any one individual! How weird is that? I do know that a lot of us in here participate for the social interaction. No slight or insult intended!! coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

P.S. ... I know that my picture attached to my posts are just TOO SEXY & SKY-GOD-LIKE to be probably true too, but they are... yup, that's me... in all my :::ahem::: glory! Anyone else out there wanting to claim it as their own, be my guest. Not that I'm counting on THAT any time soon. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Then "out" them! Tell us who it is. If you have "warned" them, and you are 100% (that's ONE HUNDRED PERCENT) sure it is your picture & not theirs, then that is despicable, and they deserve the personal shame and embarrasment they would receive in your making this known. I would give them a deadline stating that you were gonna do this first, and get an acknowledgement from them, than allow them the time to comply. ANother idea if you do not like the confrontational type approach would be to write to one of the moderators and ask them to intercede, if you feel strongly enough about this matter (as you apparently do). coitus non circum - Moab Stone

How Many Posts does it take to get off of "Newbie" status??
Scrumpot replied to Scrumpot's topic in The Bonfire
Not based upon my experience & the types of responses I have had to date on some of my previous posts. I had been, at least up unitl now, only posting when I thought I had something of VALUE to say (just click on my profile & check it out if you like). However, based upon some of the less than flattering responses/PM's/consideration I have had, it would seem to me that MANY others do not share your view ...I guess they would rather prefer the opinion of a 5-jump "Pooh-bah" or 30-jump "Veteran" instead? So, yup. ...Here I am now, here, ...posting *CRAP*! Am I gaining any respect? coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

Funny, for 8 years now (at least just in skydiving) I have thought almost exactly the opposite... Keeping my mouth shut until I truly did have something to CONTRIBUTE! --It certainly is a "new world order" now adays I guess. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

Well, I have just done just a litlte research, and here's what it looks like.... In sorting the membership roster by post #'s break-points are something like this: (remember I DON'T really have enough time for this!) 0-49 you are a Newbie 50-299 you are an Enthusiast 300-699 you are an Old Hand 700-999 you are an Addict 1000-? you are a Veteran I stopped there. ANyone wanting to do a complete research maybe, can go here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=user_list;sb=user_posts;so=DESC; and let us know... coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

I just don't have the time, but I sure am getting tired of being considered a "NEWBIE" on here! ...I've been around these forums since before it even WAS "DZ.COM" (anybody remember Sangiro's Synergy?). Somebody please help ---Aggie Dave, maybe you know So, how many posts, or posts/day does it take to "move up" off of Newbie status?? Maybe I should just say "hi" to EVERYBODY ever posting anything for 5-6 days straight. ...Would that help? What is the "next level" status anyway? ...Maybe I don't want that either. -Maybe I should just give it up? coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Off the step (or wheel if not so equipped) and away from the strut! Sorry, just couldn't resist that one. -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

You don't need him to "send it to you", JT. For instance, here.... Here's yours, all re-done just nicely too I might add! I've cropped & resized PLF's as well. However, yikes ...The resolution on even his original was just horrendous! HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Have you known before? (dumb question alert)
Scrumpot replied to Michele's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is a common "phenomenon" actually, and is in no way unique to skydiving. ...It's pretty simple really. Take the person who flies (commercially) a lot. Many people, almost EVERY time they get on a commercial airliner, at some point during waiting or boarding get this "sneaky twinge" (maybe it's as they passed that flight insurance kiosk or somethin') It's basic human nature when taking part in ANY activity that involves any level of (even perceived) risk. They board the flight (as they have for sake of this example: 100's of times before), and everything goes as "normal". They pretty much just simply forget that "twinge" they had earlier as they deplane. Next time though, on the return trip, the plane has an engine flame-out or something and an emergency landing.... Immediately they think: "I KNEW SOMETHING WAS GONNA HAPPEN on THIS FLIGHT!!" coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Just love how we can have "lurked" on here for quite some time, maybe even have a decent jump experience level too, and still be called a "NEWBIE". Then some "kid" who may have been only on here for a few weeks (with simply an astronomical "post-to-jump" ratio) is called an "OLD HAND"! ...Just seems a little "wierd" looking at sometimes. --Not "complaining" (before someone jumps on my case - I DO know how these boards "work"), in fact sometimes I just get quite a little chuckle out of it is all, when I look at some of the "stuff" (for lack of better word) dispensed by one of the "ENTHUSIASTS" or "OLD HANDS" (etc.), only to click on his/her profile to see they have maybe 23 jumps. Just plain "interesting" is all.

How do you introduce the person you sleep with?
Scrumpot replied to narcimund's topic in The Bonfire
The person I'm "sleeping with" (that term never made much sense to me either) I call my girlfriend. I certainly don't "sleep with" my wife any more! coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Gotta love Casa Boogies at the Point! ...Woo-hoo!

In this scenario (given earlier) wasn't it an engine-out emergency bail-out on initial climb given? At what AGL does your Cypres become "active"? I had thought that it was somewhere higher than this (I honestly can't recall). Regardless though, considering that this is basically therefore a "hop-n-pop" (albeit with a bit more of added stress perhaps), and you haven't been otherwise in freefall for greater than 6-10 seconds, I doubt you would reach either velocity or altitude to fire the Cypres if you immediately pitched your main in this situation (bail-out), "snivel" or not. ...More food for thought / debate? coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Actually, I've found that on the "profile summary" (the brief one when you click on somebodies hypertexted name) MANY times location shows up as "no location entered". However, when you pull up the "FULL" profile, indeed location IS in there (I am one of them)! I can't seem to find out why that piece of data does not carry through to the "brief" profile, but it does only seem to be for just RECENT (as you point out) conscripts! Pull up my FULL profile & you will find that I am in Columbia Maryland & my home DZ is DelMarVa in Laurel, DE. However, just clicking on my name (which shows my profile summary) and it says: "NO LOCATION ENTERED". I don't know of any other way to enter my location other than in managing my profile -and indeed I HAVE put my information in there! Maybe Sangiro can further clue us in? Blue Skies all! -Grant (the non-anonymous, apparently sometimes "anonymous"!) coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I realize this... this is why I said "safer" instead of safer.... really I only meant HIGHER! My point was that neither I, nor the others in the plane (including pilot) believed this to be a plane-incapacitating situation. Being on the way to 11,500 and asked to get out under 2,500 is a bummer at best... I might of added that I have done several Hop 'N pops from below this altitude and felt safe
